  1. I don't understand what point you're trying to make... our weakest players are our vets - Thorbs, Stafford, Stuart, Enstrom, Postma Unless you think Chevy can sign a top quality vet... this team will be younger next season and probably the season after that...
  2. Actually, it is. Our most responsible defencemen are 21 and 22 years old. Our tire fires are 31 and 32.
  3. In our playoff year, around this time of year... the Jets were fielding a D core of Pardy, Harrison, Brouillette, Kellerby... and winning. Harrison or Pardy would have actually been an upgrade for this year's 'depth'
  4. Not sure what you think depth is...? Jets have two #1/2 centres - Scheif, Little, two more #2/3 - MP, Lowry and then two more #3/4 with potential - Copp, Petan
  5. I listed four guys that could move into Little's spot if there was an injury. That is called depth. The rest of the guys have not played in the NHL yet but that is also known as depth. As for Burmi, he's also been demoted from their top line... that didn't take long.
  6. Like I said, nothing in the pipe until 2-3 years from now... by then, Enstrom will be done, Myers might be done and Trouba may have left... Sami Niku will be a good 3rd pairing, maybe 2nd if we're lucky by 2018-19 Knee injury at 18 to a borderline guy like Stanley... not good. Kostalek and Kichton have plateaued as AHL, Chiarot seems to be regressing, Jack Glover is a bust Chevy will likely be forced to give up Roslo or Connor to fix our D...
  7. He was hired in 2012 - to improve the powerplay... then fired in 2013. Then went to Vancouver... and coordinated the 10th best PP in the league... before the Jets, he led the Cdns to a 2nd best PP in the league...
  8. Like he'll go Jimmy Vesey on us?
  9. Like I said, the Jets promoted Burmistrov when Little went down even though he'd shown all of his bad tendencies... Petan and Copp are showing that they're ready - maybe if Copp is our #2 C in November and Petan on powerplay instead of Lowry, we have a couple more wins... moot point. Scheif, Little, Perrault, Lowry, Copp, Petan, Connor, Roslo, Spacek, Harkins - that is solid C depth
  10. At this rate, we'll draft Liljegren. Given that we're essentially out of the playoffs anyway, I'd be fine with that.
  11. Trade Trouba for LHD help and then be desperate for a RHD when Myers gets injured again... Russel is Stuart who hasn't lost a step yet... I'd take that right now. If Hamhuis wanted to stay out west, Dallas is probably the wrong location. Chevy has taken the Atlanta Thrashers and rebuilt them into the 2011 oilers.
  12. Lost me there... That's the only serious depth the Jets have - the problem this year was that Maurice kept trotting out Burmi as our next best option
  13. Okey dokey. All I remember is the big deal when Pearn was demoted from the Power Play and Vincent 'officially' took over.
  14. Kris Russel, Dan Hamhuis, etc... there were a few 'over-rated' vets that could have been signed last off-season - these are 'Chevy' level signings that would have helped out our third pairing I have to agree with your Alzner idea... Chevy needs to do something to make this team a contender, especially if there's only 1 or 2 seasons left to convince Trouba to stay.
  15. Nope. Pearn was demoted from power play while Noel was trying to save his job... he lasted another half season
  16. Winnipeg Jets defensive depth... 2011 Buff, Bogo, Enstrom, Oduya, Stuart, Hainsey, Postma, Clitsome, Kulda, Flood 2017 Buff, Trouba, Myers, Morrissey, Enstrom, Stuart, Postma, Chiarot, Melchiori, Strait I guess there's some progress... I guess. Nothing in the pipe for another 2-3 years though
  17. Remember when Vincent was brought in because Perry Pearn was made scapegoat for our league worst power play back in the Noel era...
  18. One of Strait or Melchiori will be in press box. Somehow Chevy's big FA splash was to bring in one of the few defencemen in the league who makes Mark Stuart look good.
  19. No. It will teach us to start questioning Chevy.
  20. Your google quit working or what? Pearn then Vincent then Kompon focused strictly on the power play as assistant coaches Then it was Pearn and Huddy focusing on the Penalty Kill so its probably just Huddy now. Head coach usually installs the overall system, sets the tone, motivates the players and makes roster/line decisions. Looks like all assistant coaches are locked in for another season after this one...
  21. Same as Helle was not to blame for those goals against Arizona... but you seem ready to lay everything on him. Pavs played that Penalty shot in typical Jets goalie fashion... 'deep' in the net, low glove, butterfly Just wasting time playing him now. Get Helle back in permanently and let him develop since he's already here
  22. Still confused as to how Noel got canned but all the assistants stayed... Whatever the root cause, the system is not working... you can see D men missing assignments through the whole season - when one chases his man, the other often doesn't recognize the need or is unable to switch sides - its a mess.
  23. So Chevy's inability to develop defensive depth is a reason that we should sit through another five years of Enstrom coughing up the puck? This is worse than your Pavelec defence.
  24. Can't wait to see Melchiori dominate.
  25. Yup... but if Stuart plays disciplined hockey, no way that pass gets through... everyone staring at the puck like a peewee team. We have one real defenceman - Josh Morrissey... Trouba and Buff play 'rover'.
