If you read the post, you would realize that lack of depth is not Matt Goossen or Stanley Bryant's fault or Bob Wylie's... Like I said, the OL is not great but other teams have problems too... doesn't mean I don't think our OL can't improve... I just don't think they should take the blame for what is more of a Kyle Walters issue... Qb talent and OL depth
-
If you want to sign slow linebackers, that's totally at your discretion.
-
This doesn't make sense... why wouldn't Waggoner be the in-game backup if Bass gets hurt? You're fine with playing Morgan and Loffler but not Waggoner? Waggoner is playing better on ST right now than Burnett... All I'm saying is that if you're using a DI in your backfield, he better be ready to step in at any position... otherwise, carry an extra OL on the roster. Here's a good example... let's say you re-sign Demond Washington cheap instead of letting him walk... there you have WIL, SAM, HB, CB... not quite good enough to start but a very solid in-game replacement...

Benevides stock is falling pretty hard...
-
I guess we agree in a way. I'm not really suggesting he is either... it was surprising that we did not have an import backup when 3 DBs went down or that the coaches did not have confidence to move Leggett back to S and Burnett to SAM in a desperate situation... If Waggoner is the heir apparent at WIL, I'm just saying that I don't see a place for Burnett on the roster if he doesn't fill any other needs.

I believe you win the prize for first poster to even hint at Taman's return...
-
This is actually the definition of trolling... creating an argument over a claim that only ever appears in your own head.
-
Here's what OL depth means... Sorenson gets injured, Groulx already on 6-game... Rottier moves to C and Chris Greaves plugs in... sixth OL is now Figueroa with David Beard their 2015 pick still being groomed on roster This isn't even one of the best lines in the league... but at least Hervey knows how to build from the OL out.
-
I see you're trolling today. Sure why not. Burnett looks fast to me, I think he's fast enough to cover. You don't have to agree. Brandon Isaac is 6'3 200lbs, LIn-J Shell 5'11 200lbs, Pruneau 6' 200lbs, Burnett is 6'1 210... these are 'smallish' LBs that can play SAM. I don't see your argument now... just seems like you've grabbed on to a fairly meaningless aspect of one of my posts and, well, here we are. My only point is: if we're using a DI, then make sure that guy can fill in anywhere... like Macho Harris for instance, great backup/ST signing... That being said, very excited for Loffler to get a shot. Lots of pressure though.

There you go, Frederick activated from the PR, time to cut Hawkins. Roberts-Fogg-Loffler-Johnson-Frederick
-
Yes, everyone knows this (but traditional LB positions are changing fast)... My entire post was about using the SAM position as a hybrid like Etch did with Teague Sherman - basically sending your SAM on a blitz on most plays to make up for their lack of coverage skills. Burnett is a smallish speedy LB - a Lin-J Shell type. No reason he can't play SAM in a pinch. Anyway, Leggett is back at practice so seems to be a moot point...
-
Next up...! Bryant-Bond-Goossen-Chungh-Hardrick
-
Well that definitely backs up my point with Hawkins... and the other DB no our PR. If plans actually are to move Bruce Johnson to SAM... then I question why Burnett would not be the first choice and if he's only a backup to Wild and Waggoner, then why is he here. I'm not calling for his head just want to see the best and most versatile backups on the roster...
-
Either way, going into the season with Neufeld at RT and no proven tackle backing him up was not a great idea.
-
He's close to a Lin-J Shell-type... in an absolute desperation situation, such as this one, he should be able to serve as SAM or Safety. We also have a first round pick that should be getting reps at WIL... or SAM?
-
So Kent Austin can win with a second stringer....
Floyd replied to bb1's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Well, I'm sure well get to see what Eric Tillman can do in Winnipeg... either this off-season or the next. -
As Wylie said, he's excited about the 'best crop' of import OL he's seen... we're very close to starting 4 import OL... If Burnett and Hawkins can't crack the starting lineup with all these injuries, they should not be here. I'd seriously look at the ol' Teague Sherman defence... where you just send SAM every play and leave Leggett to cover for him. Anyone think Waggoner has the speed to do that? Roberts-Fogg-Leggett/Loffler-Johnson-Jones Wild-Bass-Waggoner/Leggett To me, that's the least damaging lineup...
-
I'm not saying start Corney because he's Cdn... I'm saying start him because he's earned it, played with more heart than either of our import DEs so far.
-
Can I get that on a shirt?
-
Looks pretty grim... only think I can think of is starting Corney - who has actually had success getting to the QB... IF Leggett is hurt, I would actually consider Bass-Knox-Wild and then just bring the house for the entire first half Even if he's not hurt, he helps us more at S than SAM. Need to pressure Reilly and hope he doesn't connect with Bowman early.
-
Rookie HCs are not the main problem... its this idea that you can replace the entire top end with rookies that is killing the bombers. Bombers were like this in the late 1990s too - then they brought in Dave Ritchie who was a stable, successful decision. He then brought in Taman, a guy with 12 years player personnel experience... that's how you find a QB. Our success before that was mainly Cal Murphy and Paul Jones... Bring in an experienced team with a decade or more of connections in US scouting.
-
Wow. Posey and Harris out 2 weeks, Randle out 3 weeks, Neufeld 6-game... prob end of his career Roberts-Fogg-Loffler-Hawkins-Jones...? If Johnson is at SAM and Leggett actually injured... Just can't see starting Greenwood after two days of practice... If Hawkins doesn't get another shot, why is he on PR
-
Sounds like Hurl is back too.
-
Really starting to wonder about that Greaves trade now... its great replacing the pick we used on Waggoner but sure could use a stable presence at Guard. In fact, Morley would help this OL... Chungh has taken a step back this year, really wonder if there's too much pressure on both him and Goossen.
-
Penton - Willy throwing darts, Kyle Knox looks great at MLB... Justin Cole probably starting opposite Westerman...? Bauming - Leggett not practicing, sounds like Bruce Johnson at SAM. This leads to the question... why is Burnett on the roster if he can't sub in when our safety gets hurt or our SAM gets hurt. Especially with a first round pick sitting 3rd on depth chart at WIL.
