Chychryn's shoulder issues scare the crap out of me... to have a shoulder popping out that young means IR time of the rest of your career. In terms of Jet's needs v. talent... this would be my top ten. I think forward talent is higher than D... Matthews Laine Puulu Tkachuk Dubois Logan Brown Juolevi McLeod Gauthier Bellows For the second pick... Jake Bean Logan Stanley Niemellainen Riley Tufte

From TSN... Seravalli Winnipeg Jets prospect Kyle Connor became the first NCAA freshman since Thomas Vanek in 2002-03 to hit the 30-goal mark in a season on Saturday. Michigan's Connor, 19, has four more goals than fellow freshman Jack Eichel notched for Boston Univ. last year. Eichel finished with 26 goals and 45 assists for 71 points in 40 games. Connor has 30 goals and 31 assists in 61 games. Connor will carry a 23-game point streak into the Big Ten tournament this weekend in St. Paul, Minn. With an early exit from the NCAA tournament, the 15th overall pick could well make his way to the NHL to close out the regular season with the Jets. It's hard to imagine Connor, the odds-on Hobey Baker Trophy favourite, has anything left to prove at the college level.

He only looked good because he played with this dude named Roslovic.

Which is why I said exactly that in my original post.

I'm just saying its entirely possible that our 1st draft pick makes the team next year... at least to start the season. No sense playing a guy like Laine on the fourth line... unless Dano shows something soon, not sure what place there is for him in the top six, maybe nine.
-
Doesn't make sense to move Lowry to the 4th line if you're worried about the Jets losing size... Thorbs will be on fourth line - still one year on his contract then Lemieux will replace him. What will really make things interesting is if this year's pick is deemed NHL ready - which the top three (maybe four if you include Tkachuk...) seem to be. ESW Connor-Little-Armia Perrault-Lowry-Laine

Correction... Bernier beats a team that Jets could not. 38 shots. He must have realized that free agency is coming soon...

Boston two points behind Chicago... NYR 3...
-
Its pretty clear who the top four are... its that third pairing that is totally out performing ours. Leddy-Boychuk DeHaan-Hamonic

Connor-Little-Armia?

Except they're not... they have more depth on D but their top 4 don't have as many points as Jets top 4 You look at these two defence cores and your glaring differences are more the fact that Stuart had a prominent PK role for much of the year... you replace Stuart with a guy like Hickey... that's a big improvement

Chicago drops a spot in the standings...
-
The sad part is that I don't think most of these teams set out to tank.... Sure, Toronto is in full rebuild... but Edmonton, Jets, Calgary, Buffalo... none of these teams have sold off assets just for the chance to select Matthews... they just weren't as good as they hoped. Nothing's perfect can you imagine if say Pittsburgh just misses the playoffs and then wins the right to pick Matthews? Could happen...

Not saying Hamonic isn't a very very good player... he's top 4 D. But so is Myers. Halak is probably the difference between their stats... especially PK. Hamonic was eating minutes after Boychuk's injury... Not sure how Hamonic is a better mentor than Myers - both are 25/26 yrs and experienced Myers-Hamonic straight up would actually be a really good trade for the Isles... they need an offensive Dman...
-
Tanking is too easy... I'm now cheering for Chicago to fall apart. Dano will be a pretty good player - guy's only 21... only real problem is his back check - then again, that was Ladd's problem too this year... Watched the Chicago/Blues game, Ladd is a totally different player out there, super intense.

Mulumba would be awesome... 26 yrs - maybe a team takes a chance, have my doubts after ACL... All Cdn DL... love it. Only downside would be the posters claiming Mack was a genius for signing him...

Lawless article on officiating and rule changes
Floyd replied to Taynted_Fayth's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
I just meant that since there are more things to challenges there will be more challenge flags thrown... More penalties on kickoffs = more stoppages in play while refs decide who blocked what... already so many calls on special teams... 'Eye in the sky' is not going to work... like the idea if they use it to speed up challenge and scoring reviews, terrible idea if refs start asking for a second opinion all game long... And the offsetting penalties...??? If a guy is offside, why would you call holding on the OL defending against him... what a bizarre example. CFL continues to make rules changes to 'open up' the game that will actually just make it less interesting. -
Leddy and Boychuk are their top D. He's not on their main power play or penalty kill guy... very very similar player to Myers.
-
Myers and Hamonic's metrics are almost exactly the same... Myers scores more I'm having a hard time seeing a trade that makes sense to bring Hamonic here if Myers isn't enough. Islanders are not in any cap trouble, have lots of prospects... similar team to Jets just a couple years ahead. IF we end up with Hamonic, he's probably third pairing - Trouba plays way better when he gets a lot of minutes

Bogo with the slashing penalty with two minutes left...
