Postma sent down for two week conditioning stint... might mean a trade for Buff is in the works?
-
Right, forgot about Adams... then we cut Washington. Problem solved.
-
Would like to see Ryan Smith here... At least Ottawa dumped Price's salary I guess.
-
Ehlers for Drouin in a heartbeat. I'd rather keep Petan.
-
The knock on him was that he was a 'gritty' perimeter player... so far, he looks pretty willing though Problem is that if MP is out, you really only have Ladd or Thorburn to replace him on left side... unless you try Ehlers-Schiefele-Burmistrov, but still...
-
Randle-Washington-Eric Fraser/Waggoner-Johnson-Courtney Stephens Bass-Wild-Leggett/Derek Jones Hall-Laurent-Turner-Westerman 2 OL, 1 REC and 1 rotational FB/RB
-
You mean before Tallon/Bowman showed up... they built that franchise - Chevy learned from them - I'll wait it out. Jets played tighter last year when all our D was injured - that was the difference... this year its back to run and gun. That being said, if your lines are Ladd-Little-Wheeler Perrault-Scheifele-Stafford Frolik-Lowry-Burmistrov Thorburn-Copp-Stempniak (Armia-Ehlers) That's probably the difference to be 3-4 games above 500, or at least get into OT more often
-
Shologan, Laurent, Bulcke, Cappicotti, Laing - one or two of them will hit FA... change the ratio on the DL
-
I think Lowry does crash the net, Ladd not as much as he used to and no we don't want Wheeler parked in front, he's our fastest guy. Thorburn, well, that's kind of the problem... he should be a fourth liner. Would like to see Armia get a shot on Scheif's line - Ehlers is not a good match there, already have Perrault. Would be good to see if Armia is wiling to get in the crease
-
I'm not quite as doom and gloom... still say we win with Scheifele in the lineup - still need one more top 6 winger, Ladd-Lowry-Burmistrov should be our permanent third line Having two LHD on the third pairing is tough but Chiarot has looked better lately, Feels like Ehlers is losing confidence, Face-offs were brutal - but still they hit a hot goalie Don't mind our lines... just need someone to crash the net - someone like Buff...
-
Scheifele would have been the difference in this game... Ehlers not ready for NHL - too many Junior type plays and pauses Jets need one or two more pieces
-
Antoine Vermette got a prime LHD prospect and a 1st round pick from Chicago and was then re-signed by Coyotes... Playoff teams value pending UFAs - they can stack their team without salary cap reprecussions - I'd say UFAs are actually more valuable than long-term contracts If Chevy doesn't end up with two NHL ready prospects and two 1st round picks from Ladd and Buff, something's wrong... If Pavelec can get you another prospect and a salary dump player back, I think that's a win as well.
-
Buff and Pavelec for Gostisbehere, Lindblom, 1st round and 2nd
-
Really thought Buff would end up in LA

Crazy how everyone has written off Durant because of the achilles but is willing to rate Willy high after the knee injury and concussions and Ray after shoulder and concussions... I'd stay away from all of them and Lulay if I was building a team QBs for building a team... 1. BLM - 25 years old, no injury history, worked with 50 different OL last year and survived 2. Collaros - Without the knee injury, he's #1 no contest 3. Burris - Hank keeps on tickin 4. Harris - Looked great, but some questions marks - basically a healthy Drew Willy 5. Jonathon Jennings - BC QB factory, next up 6. Reilly/Crompton - competitors that find a way to win 7. Glenn - he'll win games... and lose them, gives you time to develop someone 8. Willy/Ray/Durant - rolling the dice
-
Part of Lapo's coaching downfall was trying to make Fred Reid adapt to this type of scheme... Andrew Harris or Kendial Lawrence would work pretty well
-
He pretty much tanked after his agent said he should be the highest paid QB...
-
Based on last season CFL QB ratings with half season or more and then the rest plugged in based on games played v. stats Collaros Burris Harris Jennings Mitchell Smith Willy Franklin Cato Glenn Reilly Matthews Nichols

Game 40 : Jets vs Predators - Requiem
Floyd replied to FrostyWinnipeg's topic in Winnipeg Jets Discussion
Only Helle should have got a star... Jets were totally outplayed except for the last three minutes -
That was reported by the Sun when Harris was tearing up the league... fact is he's not going to be the highest paid QB in the league. I actually think he goes back to Toronto - Ray signed a reduced, incentive laden deal - basically Toronto ends up with the situation that I am hoping for in Winnipeg... 1A and 1B - whatever Nichols says he is not a 1B
-
I am assuming that Walters built a contract for Willy that does not guarantee $400k for just existing... (I hope). Basically, in the same way, Tate and BLM's contracts were built, its probably around $250k for base and then incentives/bonus for games started, awards, etc... realistically, you're looking more around the $600k mark. Look at Ottawa - Burris $450k (?) and DeMarco $150-200? Durant $500k and Smith $150? Jennings and Lulay... Not unheard of to hit 15% of your cap for QBs. I would also hope that Walters paid a fairly big bonus to Willy in the first year of his extension leaving space for this year but who knows. But Boltus to Brohm to Nichols is just creeping up the scale towards mediocrity...
-
These are the same old arguments when people said Burris and Collaros would never sign here or we didn't need them... In one breath you say we could never afford him and he wants starters money... then you suggest that he'll go to Saskatchewan where Durant is making $500k Newsflash - Harris would have as much chance starting here as anywhere.
-
I'm confused now... we can't afford Harris but now he's going to stay in Toronto as the backup... but for more money than Nichols... Glenn and Tate I HOPE are getting more $$ than Nichols... and Lulay is making starters $$... Offer Harris $200-250 base with incentives up to $400-450... then worry about the cap if he's cup MVP
-
My entire point is that with Willy blew out his knee last year and sat out the season, we shouldn't be signing the 'best backup'... we need to be looking at a potential starter - as in, maybe he beats Willy out of camp I would rather spend $$ on Harris than signing another Moore or Hurl...

Wonder if Morrisey makes the jump late season? Will be on the Jets for sure next year
