Derek Jones and Sherman are surprises for me this year... they seemed to have a huge impact on ST last year and I thought they would challenge for starting spots this year. At the very least, I thought Jones would spell off Bucknor here and there.

Whatever happened to Bartel?
-
So if Neufeld gets hurt... Greaves will shift to RT and Goossen to LG... again, might want to dress 7 OL A few surprises on this DC I have to say - I hope OShea's loyalty doesn't sink him Looks like a roster full of 'grinders'... all we need is Chris King and Tie Domi
-
Really tough to measure OL... some QBs get rid of the ball if they're in trouble, others try to run, others get sacked - its not all on the OL Actually surprised at Wpg's ranking given that Brohm has played two games
-
If I'm Trouba, I play my ass off and go for a Subban contract... $8 million for 7 years Scheifele - at best 4.5 for five years, at worst 6 for six years Lowry - $4.5 for 4 years Hutch - gone Armia- ???

Calgary doesn't seem to let 'personal conduct' get in the way of talent at the draft... D'Aguilar, Smith, Durant - these are top talents that fell to Calgary because of 'issues'... Huff is confident enough in his culture to draft these guys They have a pretty clear strategy - if there's a standout talent, trade up to go after him, other take BPA and gamble on BPA/NFL type in the third round or third pick I can't explain Ameet Pall of course, ha. Mack, I think, tried this strategy but just couldn't quite succeed D'Aguilar is nothing special. Not sure who smith is and Durant has done nothing so far. Should probably use better examples cuz really those are 3 special teams guys right now and that's about it. Quinn Smith - he started for Calgary this week... usually he's stuck on the depth chart behind Mace They're nothing special because those are Calgary's second picks in the draft... of course, they're mostly ST - just like Briggs, Robertson, Richards Their first picks for the last three years are Craighead, Lavertu, Lavoie - all those guys would be starting for the bombers right now Calgary's 3rd picks are Jones, Caron (Tardif at 4th), Varga (Campbell 4th) -
The pressure on Goossen is more from the fact that Chungh is starting...

We're all missing the point... Bombers haven't placed a priority on drafting/developing OL (aside from Labatte and we all know how that ended up) 2009 - drafted two OL and then cut them right away 2010 - only go after an OL project in the 6th round, picked Smith and Woodson instead when BPA was Bomben 2011 - picked Dunn and Swiston, liked those picks and then they never really developed - they were not 'forced' to play early, just never played 2012 - went after a ratio breaking tackle instead of restocking our interior, take a flier on Bilukidi when decent OL are still on the board 2013 - 6 potential starting OL on the board and we take Mulumba 2014 - liked this draft but then we cut Quinn Everett after one year... bringing Goossen slowly 2015 - can't miss on a 1st round OL and he's performing So no draft strategy for seven years and no real focus on development - that and Mack's penchant for picking injury-prone 'steals' At least, I kind of understand what Walters is going for now... surprised about Everett though
-
Really surprised that we dumped Swiston after what 3-4 years of grooming? Do we really expect Thomas Griffiths to be better?

Except they haven't... Pencer wasn't expected to step in right away, neither was Etienne or Goossen or Labatte... but you need them to show up at some point Trouble is that since 2008 different bomber regimes give up on the draft picks of the last guy It's hard to tell what the Bombers' strategy has been in past drafts because whatever it was, it hasn't worked. But they have mentioned before multiple drafts, needing players that can step in right away. Etienne was expected to contribute in the first year, as ridiculous as that seems. That's why they kept him on the roster all year. They could have had Tyler Holmes but were afraid they'd have to wait. What a blunder! The trouble is that our draft this year was eerily similar to a Mack draft... a bit more conservative but some real similarities in consistently going off the board - passing on Waud, Durant Still seems like we pick guys for our current coaching staff and not BPA... At least we couldn't miss with an OL pick this season I'm a fan of picks like Coombs or Edem but those guys were BPA at their position - Richards and Morgan were not -
Demond and Stoudermire are exactly the same returner... put Denmark and Veltung back there

This is kind of an argument for ranking calgary low The Stamps OL shouldn't be ranked 9th. BLM would be sacked incessantly & beaten to a pulp but he's not. The team wouldn't be 6-2 if the line wasn't doing a good job. Thing of it is, only Stanley Bryant the right tackle won't be coming back this season but the rest of the injured starters will be back come playoff time. So, they'll be good to go again. And... those backups who played & are playing well will have a whole bunch of experience & will be ready to be called on again if needed. Sad part is, some of our starters would have a hard time making the Stamps playing roster. The Stamps OL was decimated the past 2 years with the departure of Jon Gott, Stanley Bryant & Brent Jones. Now the injuries this season to Edwin Harrison, Dan Federkeil, Shane Bergman & Brander Craighead who were all starters. Guys like Brad Erdos, John Estes, Gary Williams & even Paul Swiston have stepped in & played well. Considering this was not even close to the OL the Stamps had starting the season they've done a very good job. Depth & talent has got the Stamps by. Why the hell don't we have that? The Stamps basically rebuilt their O Line since the start of this season. Why is it taking half a decade & counting to rebuild ours?? I can tell you why. The Stamps have the best personnel guy in the CFL who we fired in John Murphy. He knows the CIS cold as well as every free agent out there. He has contacts everywhere & he uses them. That's why. It's amazing the talent he brings in. We had him & now he's in Calgary helping to make them a championship team. Don't remind me about letting John Murphy walk... All I'm saying is that I can see how Calgary ranks low based on stats with their injuries. Pretty sure 9th will change pretty soon... like after this week.

Didn't Greaves play Centre a bit...? like two years ago or something About time Goossen sees the field again anyway, I thought he was decent last year - yeah he made mistakes but Chungh makes them too Disappointed that only one import OL was airlifted, would love to see an interior guy

http://ingoalmag.com/features/top-50-nhl-goaltending-prospects-for-2015-2016-season/ Well, that looks pretty good... especially with a still raw Jamie Phillips squeaking into the top 50.

Technically, it was Cohon that made that trade. Besides, Taman isn't the one who traded Mace for Tristan Black... -

Greenwood was basically a luxury pick because they already took Eppelle A team that could just get crazy deep from NFL castoffs is Calgary... -
Crazy how thin we still are at OL... Bomber RT has become the spinal tap drummer of the CFL

Mulumba would have dropped to late 2nd or 3rd round without Mack... signed to Green Bay was too much risk Nothing wrong with picking up Bilukidi where we did -
If my superstar giroux wants to win now, I might - buff has 3-4 good years - philly's d core sucks - with buff it's good

I'll take LH over Pfeffer any day -
You assume they'd take him on without dumping contract $$ at the same time...... Find 2 players that the flyers would give that total 5.2 that the Jets would take. The situation of Buff's contract is going to make the trade tough and a lot of people will be disappointed when he gets traded. This could be moot if he signs. Have to push to get Couturier in a deal for Buff, he is locked in at a great contract level for the next 4-5 years... would eat some of Buff's salary just to make sure he's part of the deal
