I thought contact was allowed within 5 yards of the los, has that changed? Yup. That's why you need man coverage now, Hall's bend-not-break zone has DBs sitting 5-10 yards back trying to 'read' the route Part of it could be that Hurl and Randle are just in over their head...

Khalif Mitchell. Best available option.

[MERGED] Drew Willy Watch And Fine Discussion
Floyd replied to gbill2004's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Really hope we sit Willy for at least a game or two, this brings back memories of rushing Buck back onto the field and limping through the season with a broken QB. -
By the second quarter, thanks to a Brohm interception the game was basically over. Brohm played three quarters of football against a team that was in prevent. Yes, they blitzed a ton but the middle was open all game and Brohm (and Bellefuile) could not capitalize or even really move the ball at all. 29 years old, one hopping balls, telegraphing throws, no scrambling, no pocket movement... might as well get Brink here. We'll see Brohm for another 3-4 games but I don't expect anything to change.
-
New rules have gutted traditional zone Ds like Hall's... all of those need a rub or a pick here and there to slow down the receiver, can't do that now - so receivers just have too much speed by the time the DB is expected to react That and our front seven is awful.
-
I don't see it... Brohm is a career backup for a reason - hike, drop, pause, telegraph, pause, throw... same in Hammie You think Noel Thorpe is a gimme? Yeah right. Brohm will get destroyed, a shell-shocked Willy might win or... end his career.
-
Same as last year... porous D, average ST but if Willy can pull magic out of his ass, we win. Offence We've all known that Brohm was here only because of MB - sad Flashback: Brohm (Brink) will have to stink up the joint for four games before Marve (Elliott) gets his shot Before that, Brohm will injure Moore OR we bring Willy back too soon and ruin our long-term prospects Cronk and Pontbriand on the field instead of Marshall - ridiculous Still like our OL but refs punished them in 1st Q Defence Etch is gone... now I feel bad for him DL too small and no pressure MLB is not a game changer If Teague Sherman was in and not Randle, we wouldn't notice at all ST Missing Sears and Unamba Where's Jones this year?
-
If Pittsburgh is in tight, maybe you get Maata, Byron and a 1st at the deadline... that team needs to win the cup this year or the next
-
Calgary's logo is a big 'C', Frolik is from Czech Republic... nothing that could have been done. Chevy was doomed.
-
If Oilers D was not such a mess, Sekera is an overpayment - although it could be argued that if Toby is getting 5.5 then its not at all... Same can be said for Green, Red Wings need D help Frolik is a plug and play guy, not a ton of those in the league... that contract seems fair Justin Williams looks like a steal, wish Jets got him - just the kind of guy we needed
-
Very reasonable signings this year... Some 'overpayment' but nothing too crazy
-
$3 million for Justin Williams??? Cheap.
-
Have my doubts that Ehlers and Burmistrov are on the same line...
-
Not saying ODell is necessarily better... I'd just rather have him on my roster than Burmistrov. Because Russians are generally poison and Burmi has yet to prove otherwise. We'll see. Moot point now. I'll feel a lot better when the Jets sign Justin Williams.

Are you serious with this statement? Serious in the sense that Slater, Frolik and ODell were our 'depth' guys last year - all of them filled in when injuries hit I could have said no 'proven' depth... ODell was borderline but he could play. After ODell not many call-up options last year. Armia, Copp, Ehlers, Lipon... lot of question marks - be surprised if Chevy doesn't pick up one or two more, maybe even sign Slater to a 1 year O'Dell only managed 11 games with us last year and 30 the year before. Wouldn't really call that proven either and his NHL games with us was going down not up. It was pretty obvious he wasn't going to get much more of a chance here to play in the NHL. O'Dell signed a one year 2-way deal with Ottawa, his home team. To me that means they pretty much see him as a fringe NHLer at best, with maybe the feel good story of getting a home town boy into the lineup. ODell was injured for a good chunk of last year. Not saying that ODell is the key to a Stanley Cup win... just saying that Chevy is going all in with his 'draft develop' model Right now, I'd take ODell over Burmistrov... maybe he'll prove me wrong. I'd take Burmi over O'Dell every day of the week and twice on Sundays. Not even a contest. O'Dell is not a loss. He is a free agent AHLer who signed with his home town team. 25 years old and a grand total of 41 NHL games played. Like I said, ODell alone, not a big deal - Frolik, Slater, ODell not a big deal to start the season but if two starters go down... Ladd-Little-Stafford Ehlers-Scheifele-Wheeler Perrault-Lowry-Burmistrov Thorburn-Copp-Peluso Lipon-Armia Pretty sure Chevy signs a couple UFAs Completely agree there are more signings to come. But O'Dell is not a loss whatsoever. Never mind the comment on Burmi.... Burmi's KHL numbers are not exactly awe-inspiring... we'll see what Maurice can do

Can't see Buff signing for less than five years...
-
So Bruins can't afford Hamilton who would have been a $6-6.5 cap hit but then sign Beleskey for 4 per year... bizarre. Bit surprised Chevy let O'Dell go... almost no depth now.
-
Jets wouldn't go to $4.3 mill for Frolik...????
-
If Leafs are retaining salary as well, this is not much of a return at all.
-
Damn, I liked Frolik. Kind of hoped we'd land Comeau... Sekera to Edmonton will really up their game. Crawford would make us forget Pavs.
