  1. Nope, not the answer... but neither is Slater Big difference here. Slater is a 4th line center, Jokinen is not. Jokinen wouldn't want to play 4th line minutes. It's just how it is. In Nashville i believe he is the 2nd line center even. He was never offered a contract here and rightfully so but no way he would have accepted 4th line minutes. Not a chance. Can believe he would have all you like but reality is, he's 2nd line center in Nashville getting 15-20 minutes a game, here? he'd get 7 or 8 minutes a game. Not worth it to pay him that much to be a 4th line center. Plus he really wasn't very good at winning face-offs and that's actually one of the things slater does pretty well. Didn't realize you and Oli were so close... I think offering Jokinen 3rd-4th line minutes and a transition to player-coach would have been a very attractive deal.

  3. Nice article http://arizona.sbnation.com/2012/12/29/3814924/cameron-marshall-arizona-state-football
  4. I would have liked to have seen Grigsby moved to SB when Moore went down... could have easily had two back sets with pass option and kept the D off balance.
  5. 5'11, 215 lbs... already like him. Played through injury, north-south cuts, breaks tackles, pass protect I like everything in this scouting report. Why did it take so long to find a powerback.
  6. Wylie is not the problem... we stopped moving the pocket and stopped selling playaction. From the sounds of it, that was re-established last game and the results were noticeable. Again, MB slowly slid into a more conservative system... we knew this would happen.
  7. For the price that Jokinen was signed by the Preds, we could have kept him here as insurance or as fourth line. The guy was a good leader on the bench. That was a mistake. At this rate, Petan and Morrisey will be back sooner than later.
  8. Might that not indicate that they were unsatisfied with Dyce as OC and went on the search for someone better? Just as likely probably more so! 2010-2011 Riders has Doug Berry (running game) and Bob Dyce as OC's . Howell is a great idea for OC. I mean, he played for the Blue and has coached our outstanding receiving corps -- good enough for me. Was thinking, we should drive a Brinks van down to Walby's house and see if he will coach the O-line. He was a great player! Also, I wonder if Blink would coach the running backs -- he was incredible! --- and then move Pierce to assistant HC. Pierce bleeds Blue and Gold so he stays of course. I'm thinking for DC we see if Juran Bolden would be interested. He loved Winnipeg!! I guess you're being funny... but Howell deserves as much or more consideration as Jarious Jackson, Maas or Steinhauer...
  9. Markus Howell... not bad, hadn't thought of him. Maybe Dyce as OC and Howell at STC
  10. I blame Todd Bertuzzi.
  11. The CFL has changed to focus more on the run in recent years... Etch has not changed one bit. Hope he had evolved. Back to the GeeGees.
  12. There weren't that many rushing QBs in the Warren Moon era that I can think of... that really emerged in the 1990s
  13. Hard to tell, Cornish is a one man wrecking machine.
  14. We made progress in from 2010 to 2011 too... but then Mack sat on his hands and ran with the same personnel. Walters is just hitting his stride.
  15. Berry took a decent QB in a system that was working... and 'improved' it until we hired Mike Kelly.
  16. Troy Westwood @TroyWestwood The changes with the Bombers LBs have nothing to do with size. Unamba 195 for Dunn 194, Sears 193 for Sherman 198. Glad someone pointed this out...
  17. I gave Walters higher grades because... a. Mack left the cupboard bare b. Walters either hits a homerun or strikes out... seems like all or nothing - much like Taman actually
  18. Can we just sign Thigpen already.
  19. I'm up in Churchill for the next couple months... www.polarbearalley.com If any of you guys get up here, send me an email, we'll go find some bears.
  20. I think most people (myself included) just base their preferences on who seems to be on a successful staff, have a good mentor in front of them, etc. I'm curious - what do you know that makes you say Jackson is too early into his career? Or that Shivers is the same? Nothing really deep... just that they both only have a couple years experience - I haven't seen that translate to instant success very often I think Maas is closer only because he has acted like a coach for much of his backup career. As a player, Jarious' tendency to 'when in doubt throw bombs' scares me as a coach. I actually don't think Khari Jones is quite ready either... Have a good feeling about McMann - admittedly BC does have strong presonnel but he gets results and has a ton of experience, think he's ready for the next step
  21. Lawless reporting that no trades are in the works... which may or may not be true. A bit disappointing, would be selling players for picks right now. Still cheering for Walters but I still think we should have given him a few years as Asst GM and brought in someone with experience. I'd give Walters a C+ right now... Scouting - C+ - great Cdn finds, LH, JFG - moderate import success - Trades - C+ overpaying, maybe has no choice Bucknor deal looking really good don't like the Brohm trade Neufeld trade looking bad Free Agency - B+ got some talent even with Mackstink on us Randle was probably the biggest signing of FA imo feels like we passed on some good guys but hard to know what's behind the scenes Coaches - C swung and missed with Stubler, Etch was best of the rest safe choice with MB still believe in OShea Tracey was a good choice but not working so far Wiley needs to be here full-time Personnel - C+ bit slow with import talent - would have like more competition at camp brought in some stinkers - Kuale, Bryant - but I'll hang that on the coaches Walters has a good eye - Newman (probably), Stoudermire, Cornell, Kromah Couple more years and we'll have a nice Cdn core
  22. Thigpen is a free agent... bring him in already.
  23. Just can't get over the JJ fanclub... WAY too soon to move that guy to OC I like Jason Shivers too but same thing, he needs a couple years to develop Hadn't thought of Costanza, he would be good Still think McMann has the most potential
  24. We should have rested Willy in the Hamilton or Ottawa game... he has been playing banged up for some time and we've never given him a chance to heal. If we have a crap game in Winnipeg next week, the boo birds will be out and, man, am I sick of seeing QBs ruined by that. Brohm and Marve against Calgary. Bring back Willy against BC.
  25. Insightful...
