  1. Sask OL lookin' pretty rough
  2. Ehler's was clearly drafted for his offense. It makes little sense to play him with bottom of the roster muckers. Why put Petan on the fourth line then... Looks like a 3rd line to me. Slater & Thorburn are clearly 4th liners. Could be... Klingberg and Halischuk are clearly 4th liners as well though

  4. Sorenson probably took issue with contunally getting schooled by Sewell... fair enough.
  5. @DarrinBauming Tomorrow's #NHLJets lineup: 16-18-Ehlers Lowry-55-26 Lipon-19-22 Halischuk-Petan-Klingberg 39-44 2-24 Ellerby-Chiarot Pavelec Taylor Interested to see what Ehlers can do, surprised that Lipon gets the call on third line over Petan Slater over Perrault?
  6. We traded a pick for Brohm... just start the guy so Willy can recover - I mean if there's any game to give Brohm a shot, its against Hammie Hope it works out but not a fan of this decision at all.
  7. are you a doctor? Did you examine him? I'm sure they aren't risking his long term health for a non divisional game. Yeah... the bombers have never done that with QBs...
  8. Have patience, the usual suspects will all be gathered soon enough... Well then, sounds like you guys don't have a care in the world. Just keep skipping thru the fields of marigolds. Who said that? I'm just stating that Durant should be back & that we have as good a shot at a championship as any other team. Hey, personal shots are uncalled for on this forum... just keep it clean please What????? Joke. Relax. Heart pills are on the shelf to the right.
  9. Go Penglers!
  10. That's pretty much what I would say. He had a couple of stops here with us. He is a big man that's for sure. He didn't look out of place out there but for whatever reason never locked up a job. Being non-import likely was the biggest thing going against him IMO. Had he been a national likely would have had a lot more playing time. I'll be interested to see how he does for you guys. He may be able to help out while you battle through injuries and be a serviceable backup later. Also being American, he likely comes at a salary cap friendly price. Non import and national mean the same thing. We finally have a decent football thread and you come over the top with a grammar nitpick....
  11. Please explain - honestly, I don't remember noticing him in the Sask games last year... granted I didn't watch all of them. How much did he play?
  12. Riders have had very good late round draft picks the last couple years. Steinheurer, Vonk, Anthony, Moore, Webster, Etc. Those aren't exactly "very good" picks. You have to consider where they were picked on the board and the overall quality of the draft.IMO Taman have been pretty average in draft performance but has shined in free agency. He certainly hasnt been the abject failure at the draft that I feared so that is a good thing. Anyway, flipping third rounders for fourth rounders doesn't usually amount to a hill of beans as by that point in the draft it is a crapshoot and usually only depth guys being picked. There are always exceptions (Getzlaf and Bagg for two) but I am more concerned about the neg lister. I'm considering everything. I'm not asking them to be stellar players, but what makes them good late round draft picks? Do they stand out in comparison to OTHER late round draft picks? Not really. They fit right in there with guys like Cam Thorn, Shane Bergman, Elie Ngoyi, Matt McGarva, Derek Jones, Michael Klassen, Neil King, David Menard, Thomas Miles, Alex Dupuis, etc etc. Nothing special, just decent young players who can fit in if necessary. And that's all you can really ask of them. But that doesn't make them VERY good. Derek Jones takes offence to that. True. Some of those names, Jones included, probably deserve a bit more credit than I'm giving them. For what it's worth, I think some of those guys (Bergman, Menard and Dupuis) WILL be very good. I'm just not sure they're there yet. I'll never be accused of being a 'homer' but of all the teams, the bombers have had the most success with late picks - probably in part because these guys get more chance to prove themselves because of our depth issues... But the percentage of players succeeding who are picked after the 3rd is super low... Thomas, Filer, Walter, JFG, SInopoli - these guys are few and far between I agree the win/loss in this deal is likely that neg list player
  13. Nothing unusual there as head coaches often pick their own staffs. I know, but Brice is stating that if Etch is still here next year, the blame should fall on Walters shoulders. Which is incorrect. Etch is O'Sheas call but what options did he have, apart from retreads even worse than Etch? Its Walters responsibility to steward the "vision" of the club, thereby attracting quality people. Right now we look like a young, athletic team with a lousy defense against the run and no o-line. Pass the buck or not, its still on Walters watch. Let's not forget that Walters/OShea went after Stubler before he ultimately signed with Calgary... Bombers still rebuilding their reputation in the league.

  15. That is not one of the reasons you are crazy.
  16. Yes, I know its ridiculously early... but Kane-Scheif-Wheeler Buff-Little-Ladd Lowry-Petan-Frolik ODell-Perrault-Galiardi Trouba-Stuart Enstrom-Bogo Morrisey-Pardy All of a sudden we might actually have depth at Centre Maybe over-achieving for Morrisey and Petan... maybe not
  17. This is not a 'must-win' game... the 'slide' we are on is a lot different from the second half of 2011 slide This is a please let Willy get healthy and let's throw Brohm to the wolves game - in fact, I'd be fine with starting Brohm/Marve for the next two games if it means Willy finally gets back to early season form. He's been playing nicked up for a while now. Worst case scenario: We find out that Brohm is not the answer as our backup. Besides, if we can't beat Ottawa without Willy, then we don't deserve to be in the playoffs anyway...
  18. Name one team that switched out their running back for something other than an injury or a problem with ball security. Toronto You win. Don't worry, I'll make a factual error or controversial statement in another thread, you can blow it out of proportion until it overwhelms my original point and then you can win then. I'm a sharer. Its cool.
  19. Eskimos OL was absolute garbage in 2011 - Ray got pounded. 'When in game shape' is quite the caveat... translation - half the time Tyler sucks and sometimes he's serviceable. Knapp at RG worked really well early this season, Jones at tackle worked well last year... just seems we do everything we can not to field a line with that combination in it Please don't get Willy killed OShea...

  22. Cordarro Howard out, Devin Tyler in? Devin Tyler...? What happened to Dan Knapp? One month and Tyler is already better than Knapp at RG and Jones at RT?
  23. Didn't see the neg list player part... that is a wildcard.
  24. Darrin Bauming @DarrinBauming It must be sore. Drew Willy grabs his throwing arm after tossing one 15-20 yards across the middle at #Bombers practice today. STOP THE INSANITY!!!
  25. http://www.cfl.ca/article/riders-acquire-boudreaux-in-trade-with-ticats Feels like Taman may have won another one... Boudreaux is a very very good DL - at the very least, this is a decent trade for both teams Trading Sask's 3rd for Hammies 4ths is a deal - even if it just seems like a 'depth' trade right now Wish we had pulled this one off.
