Alex Hall and Linden Gaydosh released by Panthers
Floyd replied to Jpan85's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
You know.. all of your excuses not to bring in Hall sound very familiar to what the arguments were against Odell Willis, who is now one of the best pass rushers in the league. Pretty sure Hall is exactly the DL that Etcheverry likes even if he is 6'10 or whatever -
Do you think Cheveldayoff is doing a good job?

Is this in reference to Ameet Pall? -
You know what a screen pass is right? Every time you were bitching about that in the chat room it was on a play where the als were letting guys get in the backfield then dumping the ball in behind them. That's no on Dunn, that's on Montreal taking advantage of the blitz with a play designed to exploit it. Not much Dunn can do but stop and get his hands up. He's not getting to the qb so try and disrupt the throw any way possible. You don't like it take it up with Etch. That's my point. When you send your LB, he needs to get to the the QB fast otherwise you get victimized by the screen... Wild was good at that when he was OLB, Sherman is pretty good at it, Dunn is not. He ends up too deep for contain but doesn't get any real pressure either. you can't get to the qb fast when he's just back pedalling to set up that very play. The problem here isn't Dunn, it's that the other team sees the play coming a mile away and has a play called to counter it. I know you're not a fan of Etch's schemes - but when executing that play, you need Brandon Isaac or a Craig Butler type, someone who can come in like a bullet and commit to pursuit. Dunn runs, pauses, runs, pauses... the Grigsby of linebackers. I'm just not a fan of the way he plays, would way rather see Wild-Kromah-Sherman(Sears) on the field for the whole game and there's the crux of the issue, you just don't like the guy for some unknown reason. He's a fine player. The problem is that play is designed to put the blitzing linebacker in a no win situation. He keeps after the qb the ball is dumped behind him, he backs off the qb keeps it himself. There's not much you can do when the offense has the right play called to counter the defense you have. The crux of the issue is that Desia Dunn is slow and hesitates... a lot. I don't like that - I'm sure he's a fine person and all. Maybe he is a 'fine' player... just not as good as Wild, Kromah, Sears or Sherman

Weren't you the one who lost it when I said that we were a well-coached .500 team and Esks were 'for real'...? I called you out on the stupid comment about the Bombers. Yeah, I don't know what I was thinking referring to the bombers as a well-coached .500 team
-
The big difference in the fourth is that our OL opened holes and Grigsby hit the line with speed... Montreal had to step back a bit on defence

So I think we know who the better RB is now
Floyd replied to USABomberfan's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
We didn't have a 1k rusher last season. lol, I guess I forgot about that Hard to remember anything from last season other than Burke's 1000 yard stare -
Yet we will still never win in Calgary. Weird.

Yes you will never make a prediction when you play the wait and see game predictions are about what we think ... they are not about "not being wrong" so you can be right we have thoughts and judgment ,,, we don;t need to hide them if we are humble and truth seeking You nailed it... I'm not going to post because I'm afraid of what people might think if I'm wrong.

Still think Stoudermire would make a nice runningback... No...there has to be a couple of guys out there today that have played the position for a number of years that we can take a look at. I think Stoudemire has played a little receiver before but I don't think he's played rb. If we can't find a couple of candidates, then that says something about our scouting staff. I'm all for bringing in a real power back... then again, Stoudermire hadn't returned a punt since high school until last week so why not. Wouldn't put him in for every down but I would at least see what he can do. -

I wouldn't call 4 carries in the entire game the "whole 3rd quarter". You guys need to stop acting like Cotton was given the ball 10-20 times in the game. I'm not saying he's the guy, but you can't judge him on a few plays. And I'm just gonna come right out and say it. Our RB coach is Buck Pierce. Why is a QB teaching a RB how to play? It's no wonder our RB isn't getting better. Grigsby is pretty much getting lucky with his runs. What he excels at is his ability to receive. In TBurg's defence, 4 carries is pretty much a quarter... I think Cotton deserves a look but I don't think either of them are the answer. Grigsby was the direct cause of the last sack on Willy - maybe Lavarius? - he just stepped aside instead of blocking. Didn't make himself an 'out' option either. -
Yep, Goossen is starting to look better each game. Still wish we would have tried Neufeld at RT and Goossen at RG from the start of the season... schedule is getting too tight to try much new now

Kromah likely to make Bomber debut Friday
Floyd replied to Mr. Perfect's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Sure would like to see Kromah get a chance against Sask -
- Morely emerging as a very capable centre - Goossen looked really good run blocking - Double tight-end sets worked better this game

MB is in a tricky spot now... he's gone conservative and teams now know that they can key in on Willy. We never move the pocket, playaction seems to be used less and for the most part, our run game is not a big threat. That being said, if Willy gets some chemistry with any receiver on the fade, a lot of our redzone problems disappear.

I'll wait to see what Kromah and Wild can do against Messam next week before making a prediction

I felt the OL opened things up more once Goossen came into the game... too bad we're back to back Chick after this, if we eased Goossen in, he could entrenched as a starter by October -
Agree with all of Mike's first post... would add Good - Grigsby hitting the line with speed in the 4th Q - Goossen played really well Bad - Desia Dunn's blitzing - either go for the sack or contain... don't run, stop and put your hands up - Grigsby hesitating before line for rest of game - Redzone playcalling Ugly - So Much 'Handfighting'

Some very vicious handfighting in that game.
