So, I guess I will respond to Goalie. Sigh. Rookies I like are Guyton, Sinkfield, Lawrence, McGuffie, even Swain is doing okay. I would still classify Tasker, Fuller and Stafford as emerging talent even if they are not rookies. I'm not asking to replace Moore or Denmark or even Kelly... but other teams have had their entire receiving core go down and still look 'okay'. We signed Bryant who seems to still be learning the playbook because we literally had no international receiver depth. Its just a bit surprising. I mean we gave up on Urrutia super fast... and Kemp didn't even look good in pre-season.

Just in case you're discouraged by the last two games ...
Floyd replied to IC Khari's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Not discouraged at all. I think we are going in the right direction... every team goes through adversity, I'd rather do it now than the last three or four games of the season. -
That's one line I never really expected to read on this forum, ha...

Bryant looked like he was running in quicksand on that touchdown run...
-
I wasn't totally against bringing in Bryant... but after watching him, he just does not have breakaway speed anymore. Add penalties, wrong routes and the fumble = liability. Just wondering what happened with Urrutia, Haulstead, Barnes... all those guys - how did we end up with just Kemp and McGuffit who was signed at the end of July?

Grigsby certainly has some things he needs to work on, but I would say "The Bad" you came up with is pretty debatable. His speed is not an issue if you ask me. He can beat defenders if he has space to do so. I would also say that he is fine target for Willy, and his size is not an issue. I would trust Grigsby on almost any route pattern if they decided to use him that way. You eluded to mention his obvious struggle with breaking first contact, which will ultimately be his downfall at some point. That's the scouting report on Avon... sorry, should have been clearer.

Friesen just tweeted asking for questions for Kyle Walters... I have two: - What happened with receiver scouting this off-season? Each year, we have found one or two really exciting prospects and this year we have Romby Bryant. What happened? - Grigsby's scouting report talks about hesitating before the line and lacking real speed. He has had some success outside but the bombers are calling an inside game more suited to the like of Avon Cobourne. Will we see a new, bigger back in town before Labour Day? Will we see any new RB this season?

Bellefuile needs to find another Avon Cobourne... 5'8 and 200+lbs MB is calling a game for this RB.... not Grigsby. Scouting Report: The Good: Quick footed shifty ball carrier with a nice style of running on the inside. Built low to the ground, runs with forward lean and gets lost behind his linemen. Elusive, has a burst of speed through the hole and runs with balance. Compact build and puts his shoulders into the defender, working to pick up positive yardage. Decent receiver out of the backfield. The Bad: Lacks the open field speed, cannot run to daylight n or turn the corner and beat defenders to the flanks. Short and may be a tough target for his quarterback to find in the traffic.

You must have been watching the Banjo Bowl from 2009 as I saw no ass-kicking going on last week. What I saw was a defense win the game for an offense that was getting its ass kicked. I watched that game with a rider fan... the worst part was that he stopped gloating after a while... Highlight of that game was the super hot redhead in the Sask jersey

Pull Together... Riiight Now... Over Me...

OShea just made the wrong decision... that Aaron Kelly PI would have kept the drive alive - worth a shot, you never know in this league. He had nothing to lose and still had all his challenges at the end of the game I believe. He's backed off a bit on challenges and isn't maximizing timeouts... but I'm sure he'll get it figured.

I want Al Green as our R&B coach.

We are getting exactly what Etch and Bellefuile offer. Every year, Etch starts off crazy, teams pick up on his tendencies, he starts going more traditional zone, sags a bit and then regroups with a new Crazy Etch plan Every year, Bellefuile starts off with a great game plan that utilizes out passes, running outside, mid-range passes and a few long bombs. Gradually, he retreats to a really quite conservative game plan and has a real tendency to abandon the run - which is okay if you have a scrambling QB like Porter... not as much with Glenn or Willy. We knew what we were getting with Etch and MB - my concern right now is that I haven't seen any really capable adjustments by Bellefuile and Buck, I have a surprising amount of confidence in Etch though.

Are you still wearing your man-kini from last night? wtf are you talking about You know what he's talking about. Its plaid. I feel shame.
-
You know I wondered that last night. Curious to know if he takes RB reps in practice. I don't think he's ever played the position but he was a WR... looks way more like a Bellefuile-type back than anyone else we have right now.

I'm a fan... I can look past Montreal if I want, ha! In fact, I would use that game to experiment with some player roles and see what Jarvis Jones can do at RT, insert Knapp back at RG and use Neufeld in place of Fitzgerald. Get Woods or someone some reps at running back... stuff like that.

Really like the initial post in this thread... great stuff. As for random thoughts... Would love to see Wild-Kromah-Sears... Dunn plays soft (there's a reason that Washington and Peach's tackles are inflated) and Kuale is just not quite good enough, who knows if Kromah still has it but I'd give him a shot Stoudemire at runningback... the guy has some jets and can run over blockers, he is the type of back we need - something to think about anyway Love the idea of rotating our Cdn receivers, right now getting Carter playing time would be better than putting Romby out there Passing on proven Cdn talent is just a bad policy - Laurent and Messam make this team better even if they don't 'fit' the scheme... good coaches find a way to get the most out of players. Sure hope Walters is on the phone with Buono right now.
-
I just think we drank our own koolaid... I'm sure Cornell, Sherman and Jones were on the field for one of the TDs or at least a big play. We're playing 8 Canadians for no reason it seems.
-
Still think Wild is one of the best MLBs in the league... will be nice to have Sears back though
-
We need a power back before then. Look at how Toronto used Steele and Slaton tonight... very nice scheme. Grigsby can't block, Cotton doesn't seem to have much either... at least not for MB's game. Walters needs to bring someone in asap. Lots of other teams have gone through 3-4 back this year and found a solution... no excuses. If we keep Grigsby as a RB/SB and have a power runner, it will work - if not, we could be coming back to earth.
-
A passes to A with a great block by A
-
Totally disagree on the Wild/Kuale thing... I think Wild was nicked early in the game and we lost momentum playing Kuale regularly until he got back - need to rewatch it though Cotton AND Grigsby are a waste of roster spots... pick one and just go with him. I really would look at Stoudemire at RB - has the burst we need.

Toronto should have a good first quarter with all the prep time... should be a good character game for Winnipeg. Kind of like Tuesday games... better than Saturdays for sure
