I would do Suber and our 2nd round pick for Westerman and Anatolin
-
JFG was just one of the options on the play. The call is fine. There were other players running routes. Willy wasn't pressured on the throw. It was just simply a poor read. That one is on him, and to his credit he knows it and he'll learn from it. MB, as much as I dislike like his calls, is not to blame for the pick six. I'm not absolving Willy from blame... just saying that calling in the play - looked like JFG was the primary read - that late in the game was a bad call. Dangerous and even if it works, it relies on YAC. Grigsby actually had just run for 6 yards so it was 2nd and short. Wrong call with most of Sask's LB/DBs five yards off the line.

At this point, I am ready to argue that Messam is better than our starting back. Forget Volny.
-
Westerman was third overall... or was it second? He would be a really nice addition - worth more than Swiston though
-
Total apologies, Goalie... I thought that when you said Willy sucked in the second half, I didn't realize that you were just talking about the last two minutes of the game. I guess I misinterpreted your posts. We're cool.

Looks like the XFL

The George fumble was not on Willy... the pocket absolutely collapsed. Goosen was spun around and Howard was still looking upfield, blocking nobody. That was not Willy being careless... The INTs came after Willy was shaken up. If the refs don't make that ridiculous LOS call (I've seen them let Burris and Ray get away with way worse...) then Willy has a long completion to start the drive. Instead they call the penalty and then the review burnt the next play as we were lining up. Ha, you freak out about the fact that I don't think Washington is our second best DB and then call out the guy who is literally carrying this team. And I'm the negatron... good one. Willy had a 66% plus completion percentage until the last two minutes when we were trying to force the win. We wouldn't have been trying to force things without that fumble on the return. Besides those long hitch passes are classic MB... but enough with this 'Willy sucked' bullshit. This is the real head scratcher, the Bombers were in the lead when Willy threw that cross field pick-6 so he shouldn't have been trying to force anything at that point. Without a ground game he has fewer options to play conservatively so he went with a play he had used earlier in the game with success but this time he telegraphed it completely. You know you're right...! I forgot the 60 yard pass to Denmark and then the corner route to Kohlert... that was halfway through the fourth quarter right? Like in the second half when WIlly sucked...? I get mixed up sometimes...

I agree with most of this post... Unbalanced Offence Grigsby seems to be able to only do one thing each game - either run or block or catch - wonder how long until we sign Hugh Charles... ha Offensive Playcalling Willy is forcing these wins on his own - MB has always been pretty conservative and his tendencies have not changed at all. The INT TD is on Bellefuile as much as Willy... bad call with two minutes left. Make no mistake, with Buck or Hall, we would be in last place in the league. Run D We knew what we were getting into with Etch - give up a lot of yards but hold. It is what it is and has been a lot better than any of us thought. OL Still wondering what happened with Jarvis Jones - he looked like money last year and now is persona non grata. I thought he had great position last year. I would try Hinse next game - he's no gamebreaker but at least is not completely raw like Goossen.

Why is Washington still returning punts?

Any word on Sherman?

Willy is the difference on this team... makes the receivers better and the OL better... makes MB better too but its getting tougher.
-
Honestly, I'm not even sure what that means, it's the nature boy, i get that but not sure how you relate that to my post.

I always enjoy how you just start making stuff to argue about... I think the Rider's line is the best in the league but its also possible to say that Messam would get more yards than Grigsby because he is bigger. If you thought Goossen had a good game, you might want to rewatch it. I like the guy and he had a rough night. Howard got bullrushed and honestly sometimes it looked like he just avoided Chick if he was lined up against him. Morley bailed us out on safety blitzes more than a few times - Morely and January were our best OL.

Messam is 6" taller and 50lbs heavier. Who really cares, our oline sucks, Without an oline, messam is invisible, Seriously he has one good half against the bombers and all of a sudden he's some superstar running back? Please man, there was a reason he wasn't starting and still isn't starting... Dude had one good half, let's not get ridiculous and if you don't think the OLINE plays a role in what a running back does, you are crazy, sask leads the league in rushing, it's no coincidence they have the best oline in the league too. I think our DL may have noticed a difference between Messam and Ford... Call me crazy but I'm not throwing our OL under the bus. Goossen was in over his head and Howard was very average but MB is calling the wrong game for Grigsby. When the going gets tough, MB starts running up the gut - if you have Messam, you get 3-4 yards at worst... if you have Grigsby, you get minus two.

So like, you do realize that I suggested Washington should lose his return job and AKAChip thought I was suggesting we cut him... Nice rant though. -
OShea gives no indication of anything, ha... wouldn't want to play poker against him thats for sure.

Well, I was just talking about the return game... Then again, not sure we miss a beat if Johnson moves into Washington's spot and Suber or Markett are activated. We are pretty deep at DB this year. I don't see any conceivable reason why we would take Washington off of defense because he's struggling returning. Please explain this logic to me. Do people just go bat **** crazy after a loss? So, I guess you missed the part where I said 'I was just talking about the return game'... as in one of the two lines in the post. No but I did see the part where you suggested that Suber and Markett are on the same level as Washington. Actually, I was suggesting that Johnson is as good or better than Washington. But I do think Suber and Markett are very good DBs as well. -
MB likes running backs who can punch up the gut and be quick out options for the QB... Chevon Walker was pretty good at this, Grigsby is playing like a receiver not an RB now... big mistake not going for Messam when we had the chance. Have to give Cotton the start against Toronto but if I was Walters, I would be chatting with Taman about a trade for Anthony Allen - maybe for a 3rd rounder? Yeah, he's fumbled a couple times but he is exactly the kind of back MB likes After that, any ideas? Once Sask eliminated the running game, they just started keying in on Willy. He's not going to finish the season if this isn't fixed soon.

Said it before, the run game that Bellefuile drifts into is very Lapo-like... and for that game, Jerome Messam is the back you need. I cheered for Grigsby but he is done... he pauses now just like Washington pauses on his returns... and then tries too much. Walters needs to find a big running back if we keep trying to smashmouth the ball up the middle

Would really look at inserting Knapp at RG for Toronto... our right side was schooled tonight, tough first game for Goossen. If Watson is healthy, play three cdn receivers. Willy makes anyone in this core look better so why not. But we've got to protect him better. If Buck or Hall were our QB with this exact OL and receiving core, we would be 1-6...
