  1. Jones linebackers make some pretty impressive adjustments on the fly. The only difference that I see is that Mitchell has faith in his OL and Willy didn't.
  2. I guess if you don't like context, it discredits my point. Numbers are just numbers without context. The context of Grigsby's numbers in week 4 is that 37 of his 100 came on plays that Edmonton basically handed to him because they were in prevent defense in the final 25 seconds of a half. So 63 yards. If you want to go further in depth, let's look at what he did with his carries. On first down, he had carries of 4, 3, 6, 7, 1, 1, 4 ... that's 7 first down carries and he's averaging 3.4 yards a carry. He didn't have a single carry over 13 yards. On top of that, if you REALLY want to get technical about it, 11 of his receiving yards were on a play where the blocker actually got called for holding, but there were 23 seconds left in the game and Edmonton just declined the penalty. So there you have it. 100 yards, 3.4 yards a carry on first down and 48 of his 50 receiving yards were gifted to us by Edmonton by prevent defense or declined penalties because they couldn't be bothered - on top of all of that, he was also targeted 11 times as a receiver, hauled in only 5 and his mental error on one of them cost us more points than we scored all game. So yeah. Keep telling me how his performance is not trending downward. MB called two running plays in the first half against Ottawa - Grigsby got his 60 yards in one half Montreal was completely loading the box - Grigsby had a blocking role for most of that game... MB completely abandoned the running game halfway through the 3rd quarter Willy was throwing like crap in the Edm game plus a few of the throws that Grigsby 'missed' were Willy avoiding a sack - Grigsby might be our only guy who made catches that game - everyone was off Your memory is failing you. Grigsby had 6 carries (23 yards) in the first half of that game. 8 in the second. Fair enough... I didn't remember us doing that much in the first half Still, point remains the same - grigsby deserves a few more games before we replace him just for fun
  3. Teams seem to have been averaging 65-70 yards rushing against BC's D... I hope Grigsby gets at least that

  5. Willy's and Grigsby's numbers number both reflect the talent of opposing D Putting in Cotton isn't going to magically change this
  6. Yeah, it's weird that Cordaro is getting an extended look, with RT being a problem position and Jarvis showing pretty well there last year. There's gotta be either some conditioning issues, or something. I'm not down on Knapp like a few on this board. Sure he had a bad game last week, but physical freaks are worth looks across the OL, and I think we're doing the right thing trying him inside. Showed well there in TC, anyways. But yeah, Jarvis not getting a sniff right now when he solidified a tackle spot for us last year is peculiar. Looks like both Howard and Jones played for MB in Omaha... maybe there are pre-conceived notions - Howard was better than Jones back then? Pretty strange.
  7. Knapp and Howard are back in their regular spots so we won't see Howard at RT this week according to CJOB sports report... Seriously...? Smith and Mitchell are going to destroy our right side
  8. Pretty strange post for a guy who usually calls out other posters for selective stats... Willy Week 1 - 308 yds (70%) Week 2 - 307 yds (64%) Week 3 - 256 yds (63%) Week 4 - 180 yds (52%) Look! He's trending downwards too... we should try Brohm. Greaves injury against Ottawa is the main factor in all of this... that and maybe MB is the one who is trending downwards... we'll see this week.
  9. Grigsby tied for second in the league in rushing with an average of 5.2 yards per carry... give the guy a break, he's improved his blocking. As usual, a player gets crucified for one bad play... that hitch was a bad pass, bad catch and bad call... Let's stick with some consistency at RB - I guarantee the running game will be better this week with Knapp back at guard
  10. Knapp had a hard time at RT last year as well - still would rather see him at RG for our running game... Etch might be pushing it just a bit with a 6'2 225lb DT...
  11. We will find out this week if Howard is our new Boatman.
  12. We actually have six starting nationals injured right now... last year, this would have (further) crippled the team. Sherman is playing better than Labbe, LH can actually punt unlike any replacement for Renaud... ever... Bucknor is a huge upgrade over Cauchy and Dan West Walters has done a great job finding diamonds in the rough - but real depth will still take a couple years
  13. Darrin Bauming @DarrinBauming Julian Feoli-Gudino not practicing today after returning to field workouts Tuesday. Assuming Brett Carter would start in his place. #Bombers That is not good... do we even have a backup REC on the roster if Carter of Kohlert go down in the game?
  14. http://www.vice.com/en_ca/read/what-we-learned-about-canada-by-looking-at-your-weird-google-searches-702 Beastiality - top google search for Rider fans... Judging by Google results, if you are in Alberta... Get. Out. Now. And... I just booked a two week vacation to Newfoundland.
  15. #Bombers OL had Dan Knapp moving to left guard, Cordaro Howard to right tackle. Chris Greaves doing some drills, as O'Shea said he would be Hopefully this helps - still not sold on Howard and would rather see Knapp at RG and Neufeld moved to LG but, at least, its something...
  16. I'd say you have to have patience with Glenn more than anything... Wait him out, bend don't break kind of thing Thorpe went 'all in' against Glenn - once it worked and once he paid for it - if KG gets in a zone, he's one of the best Keep him to short passes, make him scramble here and there - the more rinky dink passes KG throws, the more likely you get an INT
  17. Boltus might be an upgrade over Fitzgerald... the keyword being might.
  18. It might help if they went out and found a good TE. I'm not sure what skill set Fitzgerald has other than being invisible. Trouble with TEs in the CFL is that your Defensive Line and Linebackers are usually super fast... Double TEs just means that you can send everyone and keep your DBs in prevent... QB still ends up under pressure and defence doesn't have to worry about the RB running outside
  19. Would love to see... Randle-Washington-Leggett-Johnson-Bucknor/Sears Wild-Kuale-Sherman/Sears Put in Brett Carter for BC and go three NI REC
  20. What's the deal with Jarvis Jones this year? Any word from practice or is he persona non grata now... Seemed like we finally had two reliable tackles at the end of last season and decided to go in a new direction yet again - Knapp is playing exactly like he did last season at tackle, okay but just not big enough to stop the rush - he should be at guard.
  21. I won't jump on MB as much as some... but there are some pretty worrisome trends appearing. - he calls a 'decent' game - like he always has... but he also has always called a game that just isn't quite good enough to open things up when we need it. I'd say three of our four games, MB has lost the battle of adjustments. - Grigsby is getting torched for the hitch bobble... but that play was painfully obvious. Even if he holds on, Odell read it and would have drilled him for a loss. Again, a step up from our last three OC's but that hitch is classic MB... might want to change up the playbook a bit. - MB loves using TEs... I have yet to see these formations succeed - both in Winnipeg and Hamilton. But he loves them so expect more. I actually think Hugh Charles might help this team right now... until he got a raise to $120,000 a year, Charles was considered a pretty good blocking back and a quick out option
  22. I would wait a while before giving LH both duties - we don't really 'need' another national spot right now
  23. Finally watched the game... flashback to our D keeping us in it and our O doing nothing Bottom line: MB got schooled by Chris Jones. Willy doesn't trust his OL and I don't blame him. Hopefully we bounce back - that was pretty boring. A bit disturbing the Bellefuile has been unable to come up with anything special against a strong pass rush.
  24. Like this move... I'm sure this is Goveia's guy - Toronto has produced some nice QBs behind Ray, I have no problem bringing in someone from their system and seeing what happens And another great TD-INT ratio
  25. Kyle Walters is the new Taman... lovin' it! I suspect this is a Goveia move. So, nice to have five QBs on our roster/PR - finally real competition and real scouting... But... a 4th rounder for Brohm, probably something similar for Portis - better than our first rounder I suppose...!
