Zach Collaros has concussion and back injury
Floyd replied to gbill2004's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
We should outlaw blitzing while we're at it -
Wonder if Jermese Jones would consider a comeback:? Or convert retired Doug Brown DT to retired Doug Brown OG? Nate, I'm your biggest supporter here. I'll have your back against some of the haters here but seriously your act is wearing a little thin. Come on. Have a take but don't suck. I was actually trying to get in on the joke against me, Al...didn't you notice the emoticons? So, Dyakowski, Hage and Obby Khan were actually serious suggestions....? This whole thread confuses me. Even the other suggestions on here don't make sense... Dyakowski (who's currently injured) and Hage (semi-retired) were fairly serious. Unless you think our current troops are gonna be able to protect Willy.... I think January-Neufeld-Morely-Knapp-Jones is our best option... without signing anyone. Dyakowski is in major knee rehab, Walters already brought in an injured NI OL in Hinse... He would be an upgrade to Howard or Neufeld... As long as we don't abandon the run game, I think we're in decent shape Hinse? What are you basing this on? Passport for Howard and experience for Neufeld. Hinse 'should' be able to recognize stunts, blitzes a bit better... Neufeld has never been a great guard, I really wanted to see what he could do at tackle.

I'd sign Allen to the PR... would be decent depth at RB or SB

Bizarre.

One more win and our playoff chances are better than last year's...

That could be as much the defensive schemes as much as anything... way better throwing the ball away than interceptions.

Just noticed this guy's TD to INT ratio...

Comparative analysis - How bad is the Bombers OL?
Floyd replied to gbill2004's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Hard to judge this OL before next game, then we will have faced two pretty top notch DLs Without Max Hall and DelMonaco, the 2013 season stats don't mean much. -
The life of an import RB.

The Bombers have been using tight ends more than anyone but Ottawa, but one of Ottawa's TE's is basically a slotback, and they use them both regularly as receivers. The downside with bringing in tight ends in the pass game is that you are encouraging teams to send more guys at your QB, particularly when they are primarily blockers and not really a threat to catch a pass and do some damage (like if we used Knapp there), while giving your quarterback fewer guys in the route, making it easier for a defense to force the QB to hold the ball longer. The whole idea of the double TE set is to have more bodies to pass block and to give Willy more time to find the open receiver. If the opponent continues to send the house this will expose them to one on one match ups against Moore, Kelly and Denmark. The real motivation is ultimately to discourage them from blitzing and to play a more conservative game thus providing dear Willy with better protection. I agree that both TE's would need to be able to slip off the line whenever there was no extra blocking required and be able to catch the ball with confidence. An added benefit of two TE set is that it also improves blocking for the ground game which is another way to nullify the pass rush. Speaking of TE's that can catch and block, do you think Brian Jack would be available for a tryout? Just rewatched the game... Montreal just loaded the box with even more guys when we played double TEs. We also seem to run up the middle in double TE formations so it doesn't seem to help the run game that much... Would be great to see an out pass to Pontbriand but... I didn't think our double TEs worked last year and they don't seem to be doing much this year. MB loves them though...

Re-watched our offence thanks to USAbomberfan.. awesome job MB called a decent game... I would say his 3rd quarter adjustments threw him off a bit - went too conservative... our double tight-end formations are not producing results And yes Cordarro Howard got better as the game went on... Neufeld got worse, looked like he ran out of steam Knapp was actually our worst OL... just did not have enough strength to handle the rush, got suckered into stunts a lot Really liked Grigsby's game - no way he should lose his starting spot... huge improvement in blocking and in a few games, he will really look like Blink - on his good days... That last drive definitely does not get 'old'... Concerns are MB's half-time adjustments and the right side of our OL - that's not too bad at all... still want to see Jarvis Jones at RT though

Trading an injured Watson for an injured Dyakowski. Yeah, that's pretty much the move that will put us over the top...
-
John White almost reached 100 yards last game...
-
He's a WR. He's a WR that was converted to CB Probably here as a return specialist though... Something must be up with Woods.
-
This can't be another DB signing...
-
Bizarre to rally around Washington and leave Woods hanging... maybe he does have an injury...? I'm sure Howard will play better but I doubt he plays well enough to justify wasting the spot on an import
-
Oshea says same lineup for the Esks Cordarro Howard is our new Shannon Boatman... guess we'll see just how well Wylie can pull an OL together Should be an entire night of Odell spin moves on Knapp and Marcus Howard bull rushes, expect quite a few stunts to test Cordarro and Neufeld Grigsby needs to be in this game early or Willy is going to get Odelled And if we leave the flats open like last game, let's hope Bowman has the dropsies. Edit: My apologies to Howard, he did get better as the game went on

But they had been getting 6 yards a carry from Allen... But in Toronto they stopped running the ball for some reason trying to let Durant win it all, they did the same against BC as well, just totally stopped running the ball with predictable results. It's not that the Riders can't run the ball this year, it's that they aren't running the ball. Sounds like us...
-
Nope. So, technically, he is not the same since the injury...
-
Starting Hugh Charles over Anthony Allen was just bizarre... then benching him kind of clinched things - Chamblin overthinking. Once Getzlaf is healthy, things will get better but Sask is just an average team right now - kind of like they were when Sheets was injured last year...

You can say that again. This is why I was SOOOOOO opposed to, when losing out on Collaros, the bombers went after Burris. A few folks here for some strange reason wanted him and were disappointed when he chose Ottawa. I did the happy dance. I still maintain (for me) Zack was my first choice but Willy was my (distant) Second and TBH I'd have rather have had Max Hall back then Hank. Never like him Hank. And poor Ottawa signed him for three years was it? Luckily for them no contracts are guaranteed. Hank sure looked his age here on Friday night at times. If Ottawa was 2-0 with Hank, it would be different as they are winning. But as it stands now & the way it looks, they'll be lucky to win 7 games with Hank. So, if the season is lost by end of August, the redblacks not developing a younger qb is suicidal strategy. Hank was not the problem on Friday... he put the ball where it had to be early, but NONE of his receivers could make a catch or run decent routes. And then Frank arrived... Ottawa's receivers will ruin deMarco too... maybe they should have coughed up $190k for Nick Moore...

Very interesting to see all the Argonauts who are caught standing and watching during the play... Moreso on D but also a bit on the offensive side too - not much second effort this year, something is up over there

How does Parker not get an offsetting penalty... aside from that, he's looking pretty good this game too
