  1. I would still say that years 1-3 were figuring things out/keep cap flexibility and now we are actually 'on plan' though...
  2. In essence a seven year plan in total then as Chevy was telling us the same thing he is now when the Jets came to town.... Huh. I guess Nate was right.
  3. Not a huge Etienne fan but I didn't see the need to trade him for Willy. No one else was going to offer Drew Willy a starting QB contract.
  4. There is actually no debate - this is a four year plan. Chevy and Maurice's contract expire at the same time. Plus look at how Chevy is structuring contracts... if he fails, the next guy will be pretty free to try something else... I like him. Sounds shocking but I believe the goal is to make a deep playoff run or win the cup in 2016 or 17.
  5. As much as a pain in the butt the ratio rule is, it is what makes the CFL the CFL and provides this forum with grist for the mill. Actually, it was more an 'okey dokey then' to wtf is Maudie Fingerjammer talking about...
  6. As a communist satanist, I take offence to that.
  7. Which ones do you suggest? Who is out there? We have the most connected CIS guy in the league... they can find a couple more guys. I mean I suggest Brett Carter and Anthony Coombs but its not up to me. I just want more than three guys competing for two backup spots... especially when one of our starters gets injured almost every year. You'll rarely see teams add Canadians this close to the draft. I know, I'm not saying we have to sign them today... just saying, we have enough import REC prospects on a roster that is already packed. Hopefully, Paliwoda, Kelly, West, etc... are cut soon - just starting to wonder what is the purpose of signing guys and cutting them a couple weeks later - when you essentially have deadweight on the roster. Basically - we have five NI competing for two REC spots and nine imports competing for two (more like one and a half) REC spots.
  8. Not an option. Once a player has played CIS, they have to go through the draft. If they are not drafted, then they can sign where they like. It is different for CJFL players who can be territorial protections. He was trying to be funny.
  9. I don't care how many points the Sedins put up, Thornton is a better player if only because of how damned big he is and Marleau has a lot more well rounded game than either of the sisters. Anyone who seriously thinks the Sedins are on the same level is crazy in my opinion. What's the point of being big if you fade in the last four games of every important series? Just like having scoring touch that doesn't show up in the playoffs... All of these guys have contracts that no one will touch - at least a change of scenery might spark something
  10. Sounds like he's been cut by the Lions... Connections to Banks and Oshea... another oldie for us?

  12. okey dokey then.
  13. Enough import receivers already... find another NI or two to compete in TC
  14. http://blogs.canoe.ca/theoutwriters/sports/cfl-mock-draft-3-0/ Interesting draft - not sure if its been posted already... can't see BC going with more receivers Overvalues Foucault, Menard, MacDonnell, LDT Undervalues Medeiros, Player, Dhillon, Hillis
  15. Marleau and Thornton traded for the Sedins... callin' it.
  16. I don't watch enough CIS... just internet vid, articles and stuff. I live in the north and don't even have a TV. But I would be up for a CIS thread now that it seems player performance might actually have some affect on our drafting strategy... I am totally bummed out that we missed out on Pawel Kruba though.
  17. Last year you were quite vocal about wanting us to draft number 10 ranked Mike Edem second overall, but this year number 9 ranked Goossen isn't good enough for second overall. I think you're just picking and choosing when you want to believe the rankings and when you don't. No, I just mean that the top 15 guys are pretty much the top 15 guys in the draft... if anything, I wish the grading would include NFL potential. Edem was by far the best talent at his position last year... this year, the best talents are Lavertu, Coombs, Smith, Bailey, Gill... these are as close you get to sure things in a draft. after that, things kind of drop off I would still pick Coombs but it doesn't appear to be in the cards. So, its either Lavertu or Smith or trade down to 5 and 12 - that type of thing There should be a good o-lineman available at 20th... Tchissakid Player, Terry Hart...? We seem to be forgetting that we have players that can step into Centre position and read a CFL defence as well as Goossen. Morely probably would be a better Centre than a guard and, well, anything is an upgrade from Sorenson.
  18. Any word if TJ Jones has even applied for NI status... would be worth giving up a late round pick in the supplemental just for his rights
  19. Rankings are not everything but they are not 'meaningless' - these are pretty experienced football guys putting them together. All the GMs pretty much followed them last year except for Popp and Sleepy Joe.
  20. Marleau and Thornton are probably not going anywhere except a buyout or maybe a bottom feeder like NYI or Florida... maybe Toronto...? Marleau and Thornton locked in at $7 million a season until 38-39 years old, San Jose doesn't have capspace to retain salary
  21. You're Carl Fitzgerald aren't you...
  22. How so? All it does is take away one import backup. Not ideal of course but definitely do-able and worth it if he is better than our other options. Also allows us to keep a couple extra Canadians on the roster. If he handles both duties and gets us an extra five yards every play, it makes sense... If Newman and Bucknor perform, that helps... If Watson, Stephan, Alexander stay healthy... lots of ifs Otherwise, I'd rather burn all three DIs on defence
  23. Don't see how you pass over Quinn Smith for Goossen If worse comes to worse, you can plug Morley or Greaves into the Centre position
  24. Why would Taman get rid of his backup Centre? Watman is not costing them big bucks and he will still get a good player at 8th
  25. Still don't see where we would have ratio flexibility to have an import kicker...
