Pretty much forced to offer Frolik $4.5 mill plus... probably $5.5 Both Trouba and Scheifele are key players but the biggest improvement for the Jets this year was moving Buff up to forward and splitting up Little-Ladd-Wheeler...

What's the time limit to buyout Pavelec? If Hutchinson plays well for the last two games and then IceCaps playoffs, I think we could have a whole new one-two lineup next year... Montoya won't be resigned. If the Jets make the decision based on Hutchinson playing 2 meaningless games at the end of the year then I would seriously question who we have in charge with management. The team will keep Pavelec (sadly) because by the time his contract is done *hopefully* Connor Hellebuyck will be ready by then.... I think three meaningless NHL games and a strong IceCaps playoff run earns Hutchinson the backup role... then we rely on Chevy to find a free agent starter Seems like a better plan than starting Hellebuyck in the 2017-18 season... He's had a magical season and a lot of luck ... I don't see the Jets committing to him yet. He only played because the caps had two injuries, Montoya was hurt and pav just sucks.... The only reason I say buy him out is that the window is closing to do that and we will need cap space very soon - for scheifele and trouba, for a free agent goalie It would be a gamble but Pav is really the only bad contract (maybe Bogo too, maybe not) - buyout prevents the cap hit. just really depends if Chevy thinks he can land Elliott or trade for Martin Jones or something...

Guys with term on their contract are more often moved at the draft than trade deadline day, the reason being there is some certainty about what draft picks are involved. There's a big difference between pick #30 and pick #20. This is true... however, its going to take a lot for chevy to give up on Kane... but I also think Kane will be down on the third line by trade deadline

We should offer them Willy Liindstrom while we're at it.

Anyhoo... still trying to figure out who Islanders could offer for Kane? Okposo, Griffin Reinhart and a 2nd round pick?

The worrisome part with Kane is that his game is not progressing... The organization wants him to be their number one guy but his poor backchecking and bad penalties make him a second line or even third liner. This is now year five - he can now be classified as injury-prone and a problem in the locker room as well as a 30-goal scorer.

Most of those vets were either unsigned or available at a bargain... Maybe they overpaid for JJ - but I don't see anyone that they are breaking the bank for

Just funny how napkin Taman was skewered and then both Kelly and Mack did pretty much the same thing - ran a one man scouting show... Good to see the bombers finally emerging from the stone age

Not a fan of his barking at the refs all the time, half-assed backchecking and his signature 'speed down the outside and try to power to the net' move... When Kane was hurt, Jets played well and Scheifele stepped up... when Scheifele got hurt, the team collapsed - that was Kane's moment to step up

Judging by recent trades... I'd say we could get a rookie (such as Maata), a first round pick and prospect (Jarry?) - just using Pitts as an example... Kane for Toffoli and Martin Jones straight up would work for me though...

Robertson's size and agility seem more suited to HB than CB... I'm really not sold on Bucknor on the outside either, he's just okay 3 NI OL kind of makes the Neufeld trade seem like a mistake now - Neufeld was a pretty good tackle and a terrible guard. Maybe he's our new Centre...? That being said, Jarvis Jones is really really good. Two NI REC seems scary with Watson's injury history... we are not deep with talent at that position.
