Remember when we gutted teams because we weren't good enough in the playoffs? I have to say as soon as MB can be promoted to head coach the better. I like Burke but Joe Mack set him up for a major fall - probably have to purge everything in the off-season if we want to attract top FAs.
-
He's no Craig Butler, but that's a nice hit... wish we could have signed him.
-
Right Guard?
-
He's had a bad injury history but I would jump on that one - he would be an instant upgrade
-
Goltz reminds me of Steven Jyles, Max Hall reminds me of Kerwin Bell... Kerwin could move the ball, just not that well. Just hoping to see Boltus sooner than later.
-
These two guys seem fine to me... a little confused with the Schulte catch and release - and Simmons - and Carmon... Winn... Really wonder what actually happened with Kelly Butler, he played well and then was just jettisoned off the roster... now Douglas seems to be chronically injured. Two things seem really apparent: 1. First with the Taormina gong show and now Boatman's failure, combined with our continued loyalty to Sorenson, combined with the slow development of Swiston and no development of Dunn... DelMonaco is honestly the problem here. He must have some influence over OL decisions... it sounded like he was high on Sorenson and Kowalczuk - the guy's schemes and coaching are not working - get rid of him 2. We need more scouting and more scouting staff - not sure who our regional guys are or if they were over-ruled by Mack... I guess we'll find out with these two new guys.
-
I thought Irving was pretty lightweight with him... more like a therapist than an interviewer. The Goltz impression kind of came from how defeated Burke sounds, Goltz was his guy last year.
-
Burke pulls out 'Every rookie equals a loss' quote...!!!' 'For three years, we've been the youngest team in the league, at some point it catches up to you...' Wow, everyone is piling on Mack. Less blame for him and Creehan though... not sure about that. Burke angling to keep his job... I actually think Miller gives him another year after this one. And, yeah, kind of sounds like Goltz is done

yes, and you just polished the knob of the whole BC system I was just joining in... and yes, it deserves knob polishing. I guess we could start with: Find a GM who listens to his scouts and personnel. That's might be an attainable goal for the BoD... then again, um...
-
Lots of knob polishing for Buono on here! Well, if that's the case, maybe we should start by setting up a development system like BC... Add QB Coach Add another trainer Hire a dedicated scout - not sure who our regional scouts are but BC is pretty loaded with scouting guys Hire a top mgmt trio with CFL exp Hold a ton of free agent camps Heck, they even signed Buck so he could council Lulay on how to play through injuries and concussions! Those guys have it covered!

I wouldn't at all be surprised if we end up with Tate...
-
Actually, we should have done that in the last half of last season... instead Burke fell in love with Buck's dreamy eyes. Now, it seems we may have ruined Goltz before he ever developed - it will take a while to get any confidence. Next up, Boltus! Goltz has been with the Bombers for 3 years. Just when was the right time for him to be developed? It was more than time to get him on the field. How many meetings can he go to if he still doesn't get it? I would have given Goltz another year or two as a real backup... yeah, now it might be too late Developing a QB takes a long time, Durant sat on the sidelines for three years I think and then still had (has) his meltdowns... same with Kevin Glenn, etc... The only thing that might speed this process up is beefing up our QB coaching staff including an ex-CFL QB on staff... but we're probably paying too many ex-employees to do that now.

For the record, I will continue to bash Mack and call for Elliott's return. If 'everyone who knows anything about football' can actually find a quarterback that during even one tiny part of one game looks as good or better than Elliot, I will stop. That might be a while though.
-
Without the injury, Khari would have gone down as one of the greats... maybe a bit of a victim of the Bauer-Ritchie feud too.. Instead I'd say very good with flashes of great.
-
I agree. I think he is wrong about BLM but the theory behind it is sound. If we were going to lose Henoc why not shop him.If I am a team challenging for the cup and end up losing a starting Canuck I would be willing to trade a backup QB especially if there is a risk of losing him.As far as the Lawless hate it is silly.Sure he swings and misses sometimes but He hits more often than not.He can be a bit of a dog with a bone like he was with Mack but was he wrong? He was the 1'st one talking about the disfunction within the Bombers, about walters wanting to draft Edam, about being offered Glenn and I believe the 1'st talking about Rielly. Walters wanted Edem...? I missed that article.

Its a real shame that we will never bring Elliott back for a real shot as long as Burke is here.

Pascucci Tweet: Bombers To Sign CFL Vet RB This Week

AVON CALLING! -
Instead we settled for an injury-riddled QB who somehow happened to get injured again, a QB who had almost zero game time and now plays like he is in way over his head and an ex-NFL QB who had a history of injuries and interceptions and now gets injured and throws a bunch of interceptions...

You missed the part where Hervey made an offer and then told Buono he would up his offer if Buono agreed to not shop Reilly to other teams (Hervey said this happened - not an unnamed source to a reporter). And you didn't include the part where Edmonton was given permission to talk to Reilly before trade and the Bombers weren't. Please stop. Even your counterpoints still make Mack look like he was asleep at the wheel. Bombers and Edmonton both needed QBs desperately. Hervey busted his ass to get one and Mack recruited Max Hall.
-
You could say we developed Glenn and Jones... Samew thing for McManus and Salisbury but they just didn't stick around...
-
How do you know? You don't know what Mack offered. IF he offered anything (I personally think he just thought he could wait until FA...), it wasn't enough that's all that matters. Its just a shame that good players get cut and get nothing while a sad sack GM destroys a team and gets a couple more years of $$ guaranteed.

Boatman was getting KILLED on the left side tackle... No argument there... just saying the line looked better, I mean he was getting torched at RT for the first half too.
-
Drew Willy has looked good. I would want more than just him for Muamba though. Not sure what else, but I don't feel Willy is proven yet and so would want to see something or someone else tacked on to the deal. I was actually thinking something like Muamba and a 5th for Willy and a 3rd... fantasy football though...
-
Starting to wonder about Sask... Rey Williams is gone for the season, Hurl and Newman injured, two losses in a row... one more and I say Taman gets an itchy trigger finger - he wants a cup this year Willy and a pick for Muamba and a pick sounds a bit crazy but... wouldn't surprise me either.
