I think that was confirmed by the fact that he blew the Banjo Bowl game last year and had Renaud punt rather than kick the FG to win the game. Well, how was it that Palardy had no competition in camp then...? Except for one kick by Cameron who we then just cut outright...

Injuries are a bit concerning... but then again, lots of ex-NFL injury prone types have done well in the CFL... we'll see i guess.

It would appear that some 'long time football people' tied their entire career to Buck in the off-season... now one of those is gone (without much chance of returning to the CFL... ever) and the other one is just waiting to be fired...
-
I know you're frustrated, but how do you expect them to seriously address the OL mid-season? They've been bringing in defensive backs and receivers. Normally, I would agree about the OL but our guys just seem to have no chemistry with each other or Simpson or even the QB... at the very very least, inserting Simmons or Douglas might help somewhat Any NI OL on the practice roster might be a start... somehow Burke has managed to show that he doesn't think Morely is good enough but then give up on Swiston after one game - might as well start blowing it up now

the media in this town seems to only like good guys. Can't be hard on buck he's a good guy, can't be hard on burke, he's a good guy. Joe Mack though? What an ass, rip him to pieces even after he's been fired. Taman was a good guy... don't remember them being nice to him... Oh, and Mack sucks.

Every offence in pro football involves receivers and QB's making reads...most high school offences do too. If the corner takes a 10 yard drop into his zone, why would the #1 receiver run a 10 yard hook, even if that's the call? The whole game is about reading and adjusting. I understand this. What it sounded like was that Crowton was trying to scheme for every possible defence... this must have involved multiple reads/options as opposed to two or three, just a thought... what other excuse do we have for receivers 'running the wrong routes'...? Everyone all of a sudden can't play football? honestly having receivers and qbs both make reads isn't a bad idea, I just think that with too many rookie qbs and a lot of inexperience at receivers it was probably too much for the group of people there. With a well established qb and a real veteran group of receivers that's been around for a long time it might have worked well. Khari and MIlt always said one of the reasons they worked so well together is that they saw the same things in a defense and made the adjustment. I don't see this team able to do that. You mean... rookie QBs and Buck. Totally agree though... but this comes back to my first point, why are we jettisoning receivers who have just been thrown in and who have played with three different QBs in either half a season or even just one or two games... new receivers aren't going to change much This is just the same move as we've had to sit through for the last few years... we have problems at OL so we sign a REC ... we have problems at LB so we sign DL...

Actually, you obviously don't get it since my post was about Miller. Miller starts with an 'M', Walters starts with a 'W'... I mean I can see how you might mix that up but maybe just read a bit slower next time...

Man, this has just reached the point of hilarity now. The root of the problem this year...? Somehow guys like Elliott, Logan, Hef, Bowman, etc etc etc are all expendable because of injury or maybe they 'lost a step'... yet, Buck just gets worse and worse and worse and yet we NEVER call him out in the media and just keep going back to the well... The sad thing about this is that we've probably lost whatever potential Goltz had... Burke essentially tossed him under the bus again
-
From the sounds of it, Crowton's O involved both the rec and QBs making multiple reads... While I don't think this is an excuse for sucking, I don't really see the benefit of bringing in two (import?) receivers to compete... I mean insert Woods if you want to change things up...? To me, it seems like we're looking at Woods at RB more than SB right now... which is worrisome. Try Carter or Miles... or give DPierce another chance - the guy played with three diff QBs last game... its ridiculous.
-
Burke says that two new receivers are coming... yawn. If we start next game with no changes on defence, I might revise my post to 'fire burke immediately'.
-
What part of Miller needs time didn't you get? We can't fire Burke right now because there really aren't a ton of guys that could come in... I did suggest Mark Nelson as about the only possibility right now as Montreal is (or at least was) in a state of flux so maybe Popp would agree to let Nelson talk... That being said, what you think Miller and Walters will just be sitting around until the grey cup before even thinking about replacements? Official phone calls will begin as soon as teams are eliminated... unofficial scouting, sniffin' around is already underway... lots of stuff happens in the CFL under the radar - ask Chris Jones.
-
I think we have to keep Burke for a few more games if not the rest of the season... Miller needs some time to find a GM and scout potential candidates... Creehan should go now though... Burke can be HC/DC, maybe he'll decide that DC was a better fit for him and we could at least get some value for the $$ Mack has committed
-
Because he was such an awesome ST coach or because you hate Kyle Walters?
-
I'm excited about Woods... but was also excited about Washington and Perry Floyd and and and... Maybe we do coach talent out of players...
-
Are you suggesting we finish the season with 2 coaches because I can't see anyone wanting to come in for half a season or am I misunderstanding what you are saying? So, just as an example, if we asked Barresi to come in as RB coach... you think he would say no...? There are guys out there - assuming that Bellefuille is the next HC - we can probably have a few guys in place by season's end and our top asst jobs filled early in the off-season. Regardless, we cannot repeat Mack's off-seasons where coaching vacancies end up filled in April... The bombers need to have their staff in place before 2014 and really send a message in free agency.
-
In fairness every other team could have drafted either of those guys but didn't. What I don't understand though is how OL was a problem from the first day Mack got here... even in the first year, Mack didn't draft Greaves until the last round... then we never seemed to give Dunn a chance at all... and Swiston who is naturally a tackle ended up slotted in as a guard... Many chances to draft decent OL prospects... instead we end up stocked with NI Rec and Running Backs... Mack just never seemed to have any focus or identity in the draft aside from 'going off the board'... We just were not in a position to gamble on Mulumba this year but we did... the guy already had an NFL contract! Ridiculous.
-
We started over-thinking and rested our vets for the last couple games... lost all momentum...
-
The HAM trade for Wojt was a real killer for me... how that guy was available and we slept through it, I just don't know.
-
We've got non-import Receiver and Career-Special team RB/FBs covered!!! Good job Joe!
-
He'll make a great safety.... hahaha Right on, excited to see Aprile next year. As a receiver...
-
But I'm sure that Ritchie had some crazy contract - like if he had a winning season, he got an automatic extension - that drove Bauer nuts.... that's why when we had a slow start, Bauer pounced... am I wrong?
-
I knew Taman didn't think Berry should be fired but didn't know he was against the Richie firing too. Taman was Ritchie's sidekick - he's not going to turn around and fire him after one year as GM... Look at Taman, if anything, he's too loyal... Bauer was not a fan of Dave Ritchie, I remember that... And Ritchie had this essentially bullet-proof contract that he negotiated post-Reinbold - like automatic extensions or something... Bauer wanted to install his own crew from Day One pretty much and just couldn't... 2005 and beyond, this is more of a Lyle Bauer team than anything else - judging by Taman's work in Sask right now, I wouldn't even be surprised if Lyle influenced some of the QB prospect trades and such. Bottom line is that Bauer flushed a good coach/GM and decent teams with some holes in 2005 and then again, in 2009... for 'his' guys - first Daley and Kelly... There is a total pattern - Bauer puts pressure on his GM/Staff... these guys hold onto vets too long under pressure, Bauer doesn't see results and blows everything up for no real reason. Let's hope Miller has some better football sense.

I just can't understand how DelMonaco has hung around so long... Maybe we finally do him in this week
