Starting 3 Canadian receivers next season?
pigseye replied to gbill2004's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
So the ratio doesn't apply to the Bombers? You've made it sound like you are familiar with the CFL in the past, but these rules sound like they are new to you. Let me guess, we'll line up 7 NI's at center. Stegall, Armstrong, Edwards & Bryant.....you have memory issues? All non-imports. Thanks for solving the ratio problem by listing retired import players. Like whoever suggested this idea to begin with, you are looking at the problem from the wrong angle. -

As much as I dislike Etch & Marcel, unless something better comes along, keep them. Two years to implement their systems would leave no excuse for failure.

Terrible idea, if you can't find Internationals better than all 3 of those guys then you are in the wrong line of work. -
We win on Labour Day and the home game against Hamilton easily if he plays. I'm sure there are a few others where we were in second and long all game that he would have prevented. Or if we made the other teams running attack as useless as ours we could have won probably all our games this year. Calgary ran wild yesterday on us, but time of possesion in the first half was 16 minutes to 14 minutes for Calgary. I think you are making things to simple here, it's not about just the running game against us, it's about us turning the ball over at times, it's about play calling, it's about a lack of a run game so teams could send the house and beat our qb up cuz they knew we couldn't run. It's not as simple as just picking one aspect and saying that's the problem. It's a lot of issues.. Lost 6 or 7 by a touchdown or less and in most those games turned the ball over a heck of a lot of times, more than 1 or 2 times that's for sure. You don't think those turnovers played a bigger role? Yeah sask ran wild on us, so did a few teams but 6 or 7 games lost by a touchdown or less and turned the ball over a ton of times in those games? Don't think that played a little role at all? I'm not a huge fan of using stats because it doesn't really tell you the whole story but... it's been pretty proven that if you don't turn the ball over, you win. We don't turn the ball over in those games we lost by a touchdown or less and we more than likely win, even if the other team ran the ball down our throats. lol, of course I agree with you but too many times people just look at one aspect and say that's why we lost. Nobody can predict the future and doing one thing better won't always give you the results you expect. Butterfly affect is all I'm saying but some would have you believe that you can disregard other problems as not being substantial contributors to wins and losses and I call BS.

Cuz everything is so black and white, Riiiiiiiight? It all effects each team identically.. no different situations or variables.. The denseness around here is amazing.. Oh for sure but that isn't the point, the point is that you can't dismiss a weakness, like run stopping, without discussing the ripple effects that it has on all other areas.

Willy was tossing picks because of the lack of a running game.......the double standard around here is amazing.

You do realize that this statement also supports Willy's stats as a passing QB. It's easy to argue that because we did lack a running game, it became harder and harder to keep up a good passing game, and I think, as the year went on, that was proven. Conversely, teams running wild against us made it easier to pass. Why doesn't O'Shea see this simple reasoning?

Cornish with over 100 yards in a quarter and a bit, that's still the elephant in the room. I thought our running game was decent along with Marve's scrambling.

Bombers Make 7 Roster Changes vs Stamps

Those 3 stood out to me. -
Break out the long undies. Win or lose, I'll be happy if some of the replacement players look good for next year.
-
O'Shea coaches about as well as he handles the media, newb.
-
Damon Allen anyone...........

Cotton & Sears are great examples of personnel mistakes but, I would say he put his faith in flawed systems and stuck to them while Rome burned around him, gotta be more flexible is all.

Very interesting article about the oline and schemes
pigseye replied to blitzmore's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
I said it before and I will say it again, this team has Bellfool and Etch stink all over it, I don't see O'Shea or Walters stamping anything so they better get their **** together because relying on those two jokers is a sure fire career death sentence. -
Bombers will start new WR Jerrell Jackson vs Stamps

For a dude that size, he has great wheels. -

Please...no more Ralphing on here. As for JJ, 6' 190 lb, they are getting closer to what we need but still a bit on the small side. Gotta find a kid like BC did in Tuinei out of Oregon, 6'5", 220 lb with wheels. -
lol, or Trestman's for leaving.

The max protect schemes worked for Montreal because: a) They had a QB who could throw into tight coverage effectively The running game was effective enough to keep the D off balance Don't forget the Super Slots. -
Just imagine if we started the season 0 - 9 (instead of finishing it that way), rookie HC or not, imo O'Shea would have been canned.
-
I've said in a number of conversations with friends that starting 5-1 was the worst thing that could have happened to this team because of the fanbase. People were saying in May they'd be happy with 6 wins which is exactly what we have but because of our start, the overwhelming majority of the fan base got unrealistic expectations about the remainder of the season. lol, because 0 - 9 is so realistic.

Bombers sign NI receiver Ezra Millington

Als fans liked him, Popp too for that matter but he had serious injury issues, I'm surprised he's even still looking to play.
