Speed kills and the Argo offence has it in spades, the Bomber defenders were just chasing all night. Too many smurfs with not enough speed and strength in that secondary. And Cauchy at safety is invisible.

Poor Labbe, even from the bench he gets no respect when in fact it was the golden boy Henoc who missed the tackle on the biggest play of the game allowing Hank to scramble for 13 and a first down. Ratio changer my butt, when he starts making plays in crunch time he will have earned that label.

Loved the comments by Burke, team racks up over 161 yards in penalties, sends to kickoffs out of bounds, receivers drop 3 or 4 catchable balls, oline plays probably their worst game of the year yet the QB gets all the blame. The offense is going to suck no matter who you have back there but there is no point in wrecking the backups this early in the season, the backups will get their shot probably by game 6 if things don't improve.

Might as well fire Crowton now, he lost as many close games with Elliot & Brink last season, changing the QB isn't changing the results.

Case in point......not even Calvillo and that personnel can turn chicken **** into chicken salad.....the Bombers will not do it with what they have with Crowton at the controls. You can't stretch the field with a pocket passer short on mobility, end of story.

Johnson just looks slower because everyone else around him has gotten faster. This defense is just loaded with speed. The one thing to watch for is when they start over pursuing, happens all the time with really fast defences, let's hope that the opposition doesn't catch on for awhile though.

It's possible that the downfield coverage was real tight too, which gave the Bomber dline time to get to Calvillo. The truth is probably somewhere in between. The difference so far this season though is that the defence hasn't been getting beat for the big play. They have been able to keep everything in front of them and limit the damage, which is good to see.

Buck hasn't played great but neither did his opposition and getting a split in a back to back is about all you can expect most times. Take the two best receivers out of any offense and it will struggle regardless who the QB is.

Don't confuse execution and effort. I agree the execution isn't up to snuff but without Edwards and Matthews at 100% in that offence they're pretty short on talent. But overcoming all the turnovers was just a matter of continuing to work hard, had that been last year, they would have folded the tent and lost by 30 points. We should be scared if we have to go the season without TE and CM at their best, that I agree with you.

Fortunately I missed most of the first quarter and those 3 turnovers..........so from what I saw, great game Bombers, the coaches are getting the most out of their players which is about all you can ask for.

Hard to say what exactly he was getting at in that article but I suspect it's that you have to win your home games, especially in the Bombers case, since their road record over the last few years has been really, really putrid.

Is he better than Pierce or Anderson.......at this stage he probably is until we see more of those guys, TE is in his twilight, especially the injuries seem to be catching up with him, wouldn't be surprised to see him not finish the season. We need to find his replacement sooner rather than later and I would have no qualms about Carr taking his place right now even. Don't know that I could say that about the other two we have.

QB and receiver need to recognize where the blitz is coming from and go to the vacated area, it's as much the receivers responsibility as it is the QB's to react to it. It's only game one, this is an area they have to improve in going forward as teams will continue to outman them at the line until they show that they can make you pay for it. One thing I didn't like about the Bomber offense though was the lack of play action and pump and goes, they never seemed to be setting the Als defence up for anything.

About what I expected to see, 2 teams looking very rusty, particularly on offense. I thought the crowd would pull the Bombers over the top for the win though. Draw play on 2nd and 7, I thought we had seen the last of that.........terrible decision to punt from the end zone.

I assume nothing, I'll wait to see what the starters can and can't do before I declare them to be as good or better than the guys they are replacing. We're talking about guys who were only a year removed from being all CFL at their respective positions, so I'm actually pretty pumped to see how good the new guys must be.
