  1. I thought Bucknor held his own. Quarterbacks will always try and test the Canadian in the secondary but I thought his play was pretty solid. Had a huge hit too. Very textbook. The guy can play.
  2. All I know is that Kelly made two big plays in the fourth quarter when the game was on the line. One for a first down in the redzone and that deep throw down the side line to seal the deal. I'd be very hesitant to take out a skilled 6'5 receiver.. He's one of the guys that Willy's going to look to when we need a big first down.
  3. Cant argue with his production. Pass blocking needs improvement. But fortunately that's an area that can be worked on. Making that first cut and instincts is god given. This kid is good. I'd keep Cotton around but I think Ford should be the odd man out.
  4. Ottawa came out prepared and motivated after the bye week. They had two weeks to plan out their first 10-20 plays. No wounder they executed and looked good along the way. But as the game progressed the Bombers stopped the ground game, and limited the damage from Burris. So far Willy has out dueled argueably two of the most prolific quarterbacks in the CFL in Burris and Ray and I think Etch should get some credit for that. Like ISO and Adrenaline_x were saying.. After allowing 21 points on the first three drives we limited the damage from Burris and only allowed 7 points (3,3,1) in the last three quarters. Not a bad effort at all!
  5. I think the Bombers will still pull out the "W" but it's not going to be as easy as it was against Toronto. I think Ottawa comes out hard and prepared after having the bye week. I think our offense still moves the ball quite effectively. Especially in the second half. 24-18 Bombers.
  6. Willy Way!
  7. I don't mind it. Gives us more rest time and preperation for the first game of the year. Also allowed us to evolute the players in game situations before making our cuts.
  8. I'am a realist here. If we win more then 5 games i'll be pleasantly surprised. A lot of new faces on the roster and coaching staff it's going to take some time to gel. Hopefully this is the year we take our bumps and thrive towards being a competitve team for years to come.
  9. I had back to back concussions in hockey when I was 16. It wasn't fun. After the first one I came back next game even though I didn't feel 100 percent. To this day very sensitive to light, and my short term memory isn't as good as it was before hand. Really have to feel for these athletes. Up until recently concussions weren't taken very seriously and they DEFINITELY have long term effects on the brain. End of the day, hockey is a sport. It's not worth jeopardizing your long term health over.
  10. he dropped a ton of passes in game 1, receivers who can't catch tend not to be worth much. I am a bit disappointed in cutting Hall now, I think that was a move that could have waited until you make damned sure you're other backups are for real but whatever I know why they did it... I just don't have to like it. Guy makes one mistake compared to the other and he's out that's a risky way of running your team. I don't mind it. Allows the young guys to rise to the occasion and get more reps in practice. Shows confidence the brass has in our young quarterbacks. Retaining Hall and losing either Brohm or Marve in the process is not good. Plus how do you keep Hall if he's not #2? You miss understood me. I don't mind us cutting Hall and allowing Brohm/Marve to progress with more reps in practice.

I have no problem with Max Hall and up until the signing of Browning, fully expected him to be the back-up this year..... but there are several more reasons he got cut than just that pick he threw against Cgy... It wasn't about "one mistake". Max Hall, as he has been his entire career was just ineffective and he was cut because of it. End of story. I thought Max Hall looked ok last year.. Not great, not terrible. He certainly didn't have a lot of help around him. But I fully expected him to have a better showing this year in training camp, and especially in the pre season games. Being the most familiar with Coach Bellefeuille's system.Instead he looked like the worst quarterback. Going into training camp I fully expected him to be neck and neck with Willy.. That wasn't the case. Unfortunately at 28 and below average arm strength. There isn't much upside for Hall here in Winnipeg.

  13. I don't remember this perfectly but its crazy to think that every game wasn't on TV and that once upon a time not too long ago blackouts meant you had to either be at the stadio or listen to the game on CJOB 68.
  14. This is a really great thread. I was 10 years at the time and 2001 was the first year I really got into football and the Bombers in particular. I was at the game against BC where BC missed the last second field goal. It was a really special team, to bad they lost the big game. It seemed like fate that they would win it all. It wasn't meant to be. It shows that the window of opportunity is so slim. By 2005 we were the worst team in the league again.
  15. Well it was a bit of a surprise to see Pencer released. But he clearly wasn't progressing and in this league especially you have to perform. The window of opportunity is so slim. Just because you have the right passport doesn't make you exempt from this rule. Such a disappointment for a high draft pick but that goes to show that the draft is a crap shot at best.
  16. He wont get cut but to me Hall was one of the big disappointments. He has the most experience then any other quarterback on this roster in the CFL, and is the only QB back from last years 3-15 squad. I expected him to show more poise and get rid of the ball a little quicker. I fully expected him to compete with Willy and have a good showing. Granted there was a few drops, but there was just too much missed opportunities for a guy that's fighting for a starters position. The guy is 29 years old and has bounced around the NFL and CFL. Is his ceiling set at mediocre starter or average back up? Seems like that's a realistic possibility.
  17. It's highly apparent that Friesen doesn't care about the team. He writes to create controversy, which in turn unfortunately sells.
  18. As someone who works in the healthy industry I can't help but shake my head at his comments about fast food and walmart. Heck even if he's joking which it sounds like he is, he's still a professional athlete. You should hold yourself in a higher regard. It's just plain embarrassing to be talking about fast food when you should be concentrated on football.
  19. Winnipeg is so small, i've been on dates with three of the Bomber cheerleaders it's great to see they're doing well, this was back before they were Bomber cheerleaders ofcourse, and when i was single. Everyone looks great though! Atleast if our team doesn't look good the cheerleaders do!
  20. I'd rather have Glenn to be honest. Solid and dependable. In a weak eastern division we might be able to win the east with him, and have Goltz learn and package some plays for him, then in a year or two hopefully Goltz is ready. But who knows they said that about Glenn in Hamilton with Porter, and with Tate in Calgary. Glenn's remained the constant. Goes to show how under rated this guy really is.
  21. Wow that new layout for their site is putrid.. I have no issues with Colin but c'mon man.
  22. The good news is they can't beat anyone else.
  23. After watching Saskatchewan destroy Hamilton 37-0 we're officially tied for second at 1-3 with Hamilton and Montreal. As bad as we've been all season Hamilton and Montreal both look as pathetic if not more. Who would of thought at 1-3 we would be log jammed for home field advantage.
  24. As good as he was in 2011 (Hefney was better btw) I think he peaked in 2009-2010. Both years he was outstanding not only in coverage, but he was explosive as a kick returner. Clearly he's lost a step. He was never the quickest guy but he had a great football IQ really knew where to be in coverage or where to follow his blocks returning the football. You see him try and make these reads and get burnt because he's s step slower now. Time to relieve him of his returner duties and let him focus on the Defensive side of the ball. No doubt it's taken a toll on him.
  25. Ding ding ding we have a winner. In the CFL you need to be able to pass to open up the run. The defense will just stack the box all night long until Buck proves he can move the ball through the air.
