I feel like we should have a thread to talk about certain memories, players and moments in Bombers history. Inspired by my Charles Roberts thread it opened the floodgates thinking of moment during my life time. Anyways I’ll go first.. does anyone remember this game? Bombers down 32-14 with 9 minutes left in the fourth. Alex Brinks gets the start and does nothing all game long. Jyles comes in and looks like a bonfide super star; we come back to force over time, Deon Beasley intercepts Casey printers for a pick six in over time and does a front flip into the end zone! Possibly the greatest game I ever attended. I remember my buddies wanted to leave when BC scored to make it 32-14. I convinced them to stay and the rest is history!

The underrated career of Charles Roberts

I get the frustration but he was a solo effort on some absolutely lousy bomber teams. I remember our offence was so bad around 05 we were looking forward to getting points from John Ryan singles. -

Do you know how he’s doing now? Seems like he was in a bad place in life and I hope things have gotten better, he was one of my heroes growing up, I was always practising that first cut, spinarama, and all the other moves he had, he was definitely one of my heroes as a kid. -

He always tried hard on the field. He gets a bad rep but he gave it all he had on the field. He was phenomenal -

He played with tee Martin and the worst offensive line in the league and still put up 1600 yards and over 2000. Give him today’s o line and he feasts and wins multiple Grey cups. -

I won’t hold it against him. He carried our team for several years. He always brought his A game on the field. I don’t care what he did off of it. He has to be the most spectacular running back I’ve ever seen in the cfl in terms of making the man miss, especially in open field. -
I was looking at his stats the other day. I know he gets a lot of flack because of the grey cup in 2007 and his sharp decline in 2008 but he averaged about 1500 yards and close to 6 yards per carry for five straight seasons and the amazing thing is during his prime we had one one of the worst offensive lines in the league and guys like Tee Martin under Center. Also back to back 2000 all purpose yards. I love me some Andrew Harris but Roberts was truly spectacular. As a kid growing up during his prime and being a short fast runningback I remember emulating his game and I have to say he doesn’t get enough love.

Even when we’re both not very good it’s a great rivalry with two passionate fan bases. Go bombers! -

5! Count em 5. If I was a quarterback I wouldn’t even be throwing his direction after the first 3. What an amazing feat.

One hundred perfect correct. If we were struggling we could use the gamble on the big return but with the way our team is playing he’s doing exactly what he needs to do.. catch the ball, hold on to it and give our offence a shot. I even remember when we had guys like Keith Stokes who would have monster returns but people would complain when he coughed up the loaf. Darned if you do darned if you don’t!
