The underrated career of Charles Roberts
Arnold_Palmer replied to Arnold_Palmer's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
I won’t hold it against him. He carried our team for several years. He always brought his A game on the field. I don’t care what he did off of it. He has to be the most spectacular running back I’ve ever seen in the cfl in terms of making the man miss, especially in open field. -
I was looking at his stats the other day. I know he gets a lot of flack because of the grey cup in 2007 and his sharp decline in 2008 but he averaged about 1500 yards and close to 6 yards per carry for five straight seasons and the amazing thing is during his prime we had one one of the worst offensive lines in the league and guys like Tee Martin under Center. Also back to back 2000 all purpose yards. I love me some Andrew Harris but Roberts was truly spectacular. As a kid growing up during his prime and being a short fast runningback I remember emulating his game and I have to say he doesn’t get enough love.

GDT - Banjo Bowl - Riders @ the Champs

Even when we’re both not very good it’s a great rivalry with two passionate fan bases. Go bombers! -

Should be a good one! Always is. -
5! Count em 5. If I was a quarterback I wouldn’t even be throwing his direction after the first 3. What an amazing feat.

Looking ahead,early chat-Banjo Bowl 2021

One hundred perfect correct. If we were struggling we could use the gamble on the big return but with the way our team is playing he’s doing exactly what he needs to do.. catch the ball, hold on to it and give our offence a shot. I even remember when we had guys like Keith Stokes who would have monster returns but people would complain when he coughed up the loaf. Darned if you do darned if you don’t! -

I will give him credit for one thing. He catches the ball. Even just a few turnovers from fumbling on a punt can change the whole game around. -

Really wish I can make it this year but I have a wedding to attend! No reason to not expect a sweep of the home and home series. I think our offence can be better and we had a good game plan for CF he looked shell shocked last game so we will see what kind of adjustments they make but if you bring the house and take away the short game you realize he doesn’t have the arm to punish you down field very often. -
There would be no Grey Cup without Nichols bringing us back to respectability. Remember how terrible our quarterback play has been since Kevin Glenn.. a lot of uncertainty and tough years.

They are who Jefferson thought they were

Now if they had Dunigan and Suitor on that would have been hilarious. I could see some good natured banter. -

Suitors commentary last night was insufferable. No way he should have been allowed to broadcast, even more pathetic was his attempt at plugging his gig with the Saskatchewan radio station. Very unprofessional in my opinion. -

Funny he totally reminded me of Ryan Dinwiddie last night, with those weak floaters and 50/50 balls. -
Sad because there’s a lot of responsibility for him doing both kicking duties and the majority of his kicks are from 40 yards out. On third and a short two I thought we were better off just going for it even if the end result was just as good as a punt.
-
He’s 5-7 and the majority of his kicks he’s made is from 40-50 yards.. he’s doing just fine he’s only missed one convert. He’s a young kid, he’s going to have a good career in this league.
-
I’m willing to give him the benefit of the doubt. Can’t expect a rookie kicker to hit from 56 all Willy nilly.

HM: to the goal post. That’s some poetic justice.

Reminds me of the 2019 Grey cup champions team!! -

The fact the riders didn’t roll out the brinks truck for Jefferson is the biggest blunder ever. Letting this guy go before he entered his prime was insanity.
