Around the League - Regular Season Discussion (Redux)
Arnold_Palmer replied to BigBlue's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
I guess but AB had nearly 1800 yards and 9 TD's last season. I'd take him back in Blue and Gold in a heart beat. -
I think what it comes down to is getting production on first down. Too many times we were in second and long, and the Riders would send three and we'd settle for the Lapo special which would be a 3-4 yard pass on second and long. Our offense is typically at its most dangerous and our play calling is usually really good when its second and medium or second and short. If we don't get that first down production we're not going to put enough points on the board period.

I mean yes Walker is great. But their receiving core is already solid and the least of their worries. They need help on the o-line and on the defensive side of things. Walker won't come cheap. He'll likely be one of the higher/highest paid receivers in the league. If Edmonton really wants to roll the dice with their current o-line and defense then so be it.. Because I don't think Walker is enough to put them over the top and it doesn't do enough to hide their short comings. -
Labour Day Classic: Winnipeg @ Saskatchewan
Arnold_Palmer replied to Rich's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
World class?! Saskatchewan is a **** hole and their fans are loud and obnoxious. I got a job offer with a substantial pay raise to go live out there and I declined without a moments hesitation. -
Well.. Coach O'shea was the first coach to beat the Riders on Labour day since Dave Richie coaches this team so I don't think that was the case.

Labour Day Classic: Winnipeg @ Saskatchewan
Arnold_Palmer replied to Rich's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Apparently Bomber fans spit on Duron Carter. If true that's absolutely classless. Proceeds to say Bomber fans are the worst fans in the CFL and he can't wait to kick our asses next week. This guy is such a clown. -
As much as I like Nichols I've noticed he's had a lot of trouble in recent games when teams are only rushing three and dropping back 9. Saskatechewan exploited that yesterday and he looked very average. I'm hoping we'll be able to make the proper adjustments on offense next week because the three yard dump play on second and long won't cut it.

The Most Important Game: Wpg @ Regina

I fully hope/expect us to be 9-2 after this stretch. I think the riders are a good team but I think we're a great team waiting for a swep. -

Should be a great game. Wouldn't be surprised if Riders took this one in a squeaker and then we won the next weekend, but obviously confident we can compete and hopefully get the sweep. -
I think there's a fine line that gets crossed here too often. As passionate football fans obviously a little good natured ribbing on the Riders is fine. We're rivals, and I expected their fan base to do the same. As annoying as I find some of their fans I would never paint every single fan with that same brush. I've partied with many rider fans after the banjo bowl and most of them are great supportive fans who love football. I think it's important to create a mutual respect between fanbases because at the end of the day both fan bases have their bad apples but most fans are good fans.. Like I said good natured teasing back and forth is fine but personal attacks on people who disagree with your opinion isn't ok. Someone like Ripper who is a regular on this forum is a good example. I may not always agree with his opinion and I myself might give him a tough time over it but I respect that right that he has an opinion and atleast backs up his arguments.

Look at Adams stats compared to receivers. He's been of the very best in the league this season.

CFL QB Power Rankings Week 11
Arnold_Palmer replied to mgoodpaster's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Defense came to play that day. They're were awesome. For the most time they completely shut down Joseph who was the MOP of the season. Glenn was at his best in 07. It would have been a blow out for the blue bombers if he was there. -

Once the weather gets colder, and the stakes get higher Glenn will do is disappearing act. No doubt in my mind. Good for him though for playing at a high level and giving Saskatechewan a chance. -
Season at the half. awards, stats and fun.

When we have the ball longer, and run more plays its bound to happen our o-line has been great this season. -

Canadian Football League[edit] The Canadian Football League board of governors approved the use of instant replay starting in 2006.[6] The CFL system appears to be modeled largely on the NFL's, although some differences have been incorporated to accommodate differences between the two codes: -
I'm surprised more teams dont go for two. The ball is at the two yard line.. That opens the playbook and should be almost a gimmie. Heck even if you're 50 percent its worth it.. I understand with a guy like Medlock whos automatic on the convert that we stick with the conventional one point but a team thats struggling with the point after kick might as well go for two every time.

You mean as a season ticket holder right?

Our defense has quietly allowed the second most points in the league.. right behind the winless Hamilton Tiger Cats.

No it's called continuity. We were 5-4 heading into Labour Day last season. This year were 7-2. I'd call that improvement.. -
I've never seen a team that's lost so much in the past three years have such an ignorant, loud fan base. Congrats to getting to getting to 500. That must be quite the accomishnement after being the laughing stock of the CFL for the last couple of years. There's absolutely zero fear of us coming into Saskatchewan next week. Heck we've owned you guys in your own barn lately so stop yapping. Still last in the West, and not going anywhere with a 40 year old Kevin Glenn. I just hope you're man enough to come around here in two weeks when you're 4-6.
-
Congrats on being 500. Riders they beat up on two teams that couldn't stop giving the ball away. Winnipeg won't make the same mistake. Anyways should be an interesting matchup. They're not going to be an easy W on the schedule.

Bombers @ Als: The Game Day Thread
Arnold_Palmer replied to Noeller's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Your safety will always look bad on tv because his primary job is reacting to where the play is going. I think he is having a little bit of a sophomore jinx. He has good reactions to plays, and obviously he can lay the shoulder down with the best of them. His presence in the middle of the field can't be underestimated. I do think he looks a little bigger this season and his speed might be just the tiniest bit compromised, obviously the problem with big hitters is that they don't always wrap up and sometimes the ball carrier gets away but overall I still think he's one of the best safeties in the league.
