Season at the half. awards, stats and fun.
Arnold_Palmer replied to wbbfan's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
I had a selfish moment last night watching the game seeing Nichols throw the Hail Mary on the last play before half and getting an INT. Another 3 TD's and some GREAT decision making from Nichols. We have a confident offense where Nichols will not force the ball. He gives his receivers the chance to make plays. -
Bombers @ Als: The Game Day Thread

He's a MLB. I'm not making excuses for his play but if you expect INT's and sacks then you're going to be disappointed... -

We had the first week bye, playing on the road in the opening of your new stadium and we still won. 7-2 vs 3-4 surely you can count? -
Odds and Sods - Blue Bombers at Montreal Peelers
Arnold_Palmer replied to do or die's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
No ones better in finding the soft spot in a zone defense then Nik Lewis. Gotta give credit when credit is due. -
I've never seen a more obnoxious fan base of a team that's 3-4. You would think they were 9-0 the way Rider fans talk about their team.
-
I think Edmonton at home takes this. They didn't play very well last week against us. They'll be better.

Bombers @ Als: The Game Day Thread

Exactly, How many close games has Calgary won against us/the rest of the league over the years? Montreal has a lot of vets they didn't play well last week and came out and brought their A game at home. The good teams win the close games. -
The Most Important Game: Wpg @ Regina

I feel like the whole mentality of winning labour day classic being like our grey cup is over. We simply want to win football games. Doesn't matter if it's Sakschewan, Calgary, etc the mindset has to be to take care of business and win a grey cup. -
3 stars + HH Heart stopping OT edition

Second HM: we won't have to listen to Rod Black talk about Nik Lewis anymore. I get its a big moment, but we have a football game going on, a damn good one to boot. -

1. Randle 2. Harris 3. Denmark HM: Medlock perfect again tonight -
2nd I mean yes we can always get better at every position but this has quietly become a strength of our team.

Winnipeg is a great sports city. Let's face it. A Winning football club will generate more interest on a station like 1290 . If we were 2-6 instead of 6-2 we probably wouldn't hear much. People are still in the honey moon stage with the Jets but if they don't start winning this year and the Bombers are among the elite teams I can see more air talk on the radio dedicated to the Bombers in the future.

I would love to snag one of Demski or Coombs in the off season. That would be a huge move for the Bombers. -
I really enjoy Petans game, his passing skills are phenomenal. It's obvious he will never get a full chance on the jets. I hope he gets an opportunity on a team that needs some offense. He's basically a top six or bust player but unfortunately he won't be that player for the Jets.

Around the League - Regular Season Discussion (Redux)

He had an okay rookie year. 960 yards with a 3.6 YPC I'm sorry but another under 4.5 shouldn't be congratulated. They simply chose to give him the ball time and time again. His career YPC is an abysmal 3.3 he simply can't read the right hole and when you have terrible awareness like that it's next to impossible to be taught. There's a reason why he was out of the league within 4 years despite being a third overall draft pick.. -

Oddly enough he's had a pretty good NFL career. The fact that was 8 years ago and he's still in the NFL. No doubt in my mind he would be a productive player. His speed was/is something else. Not like Trent Richardson who's a fat over weight running back who's skill set wouldn't even be suited for the CFL -
I think some expected Smith to be the big play guy and Dressler to be productive but not dominant. Dressler has done everything and more in my eyes since being a Bomber and his play hasn't trickled off at all. He will be a huge part of our offense down the stretch but a trio of Adams-Dressler-Walker would be absolutely dangerous and definitely put our core with the very best in the league.

He's actually worked with the NFL this last draft and mentored NFL hopefuls. He fully takes responsibilities for his actions and his career. He's really an interesting guy to hear talk. Very open and honest about his past and pretty intelligent too. -
I wouldn't drop Dressler. He's our best reciever when healthy. Denmark unfortunately has been mostly invisible. It's too bad because him and Nichols had such good chemistry and part of the reason for our resurgence was the play of Nichols and Denmark together. I'd love for us to make a big mid season move. We're a good football club and another receiving threat would certainly help this offense.
-
No one will trade for Oko unfortunately. I see his days numbered at his salary. Jeffcoat has been great.
-
I don't always or usually as a matter of fact agree with his opinion but I do give him credit for backing up his opinion, and adding to the discussion.

Somehow the hangover doesn't ever feel as bad after a Bombers win
-
It's going to be a dog fight in the west this season. Just have to take care of business when we play and everything will take care of itself. If we beat a scrappy Montreal team we going into labour day sitting pretty at 7-2 I like our chances at 8-3 or 9-2 after the home and home against the Riders.
-
His play calling is average but his schemes and " X's and 0's" are probably the best in the league if not right near the top.
