Blue Bombers - 2024 Regular Season - Discussion Thread

Im not sure it falls under scouting necessarily. A lot of people were excited about some of the prospects we brought in to camps. We brought a lot D-Linemen and receivers into camp the issue is O’Shea cut almost every rookie that looked promising. What’s Walters and the scouting department suppose to do when O’Shea refuses to use or keep young Americans coming in? -

I remember suggesting in the off season that it wouldn’t be feasible going forward having three of the four highest paid receivers in the league plus the highest paid QB and RB I took some flack for suggesting Lawler would have to take a discount to stay. It’s not that these guys aren’t worth the money on their own it’s just having them all really handicaps our roster manager flexibility and now we’re paying for it. I guess the silver lining is if Schoen returns next year because of his injury I don’t think we’ll see a bump in his salary, maybe a decrease, and we’ll have some tough decisions about how we want to allocate salary. -

Philpott is going to get paid. I can see about 250, and he’s probably worth it to be honest. -

I know 1-4 has got us questioning things but man how do you live with yourself if you let a 26 year old home grown talent, 2000 all purpose yards, MOP leave to another team? Especially let’s say for example he went to B.C. our division rival.. we get to watch him for years in his prime run all over us and the CFL. I know a lot of us would be very un happy with that decision. I think because we’ve had nearly a decade of Andrew Harris and Brady Oliveria we take for granted having an outstanding running back who can get you the tough yards, take over a game, and is Canadian to boot. Look at B.C. they’ve been knocking at the door but the lack of a punishing runner when it gets cold has potentially cost them a trip to the grey cup in back to back years. We have many problems to worry about on this team but Brady isn’t one of them. -

As someone who’s a big fan of Streveler let’s not use the term “vastly superior” majority of the players were third and fourth string players who were cut later, it’s disingenuous, the talent level was probably even at best. -

He’s been noticeably good. As long as the organization can taper expectations. Good rotational player, but let’s hope they don’t ruin him by giving him the Jake Thomas treatment. -

Disappointed about releasing Fayad. He looked pretty good. Why not release Mitchell? He’s absolutely useless as a returner and as a receiver. I don’t understand. We’ve been under manned on the DL and just getting by and we bring one guy back just to release one guy, especially one who was useful for us. Again it’s looking like poor roster management from the Blue Bombers. -

https://3downnation.com/2024/07/07/ryan-dinwiddie-committed-to-chad-kelly-as-argos-starting-qb-after-suspension/ Montreal and Toronto surpassing the Riders for amount of ****** bags in their organization. Bad look from Toronto. -
I like Kramdi more than most. He has a good football IQ and is a solid tackler, but yeah I agree. He’s just a little bit too slow to play where he plays, the ultimate rotational player in certain situations but he’s paid like a star and it’s really hard to justify that, other then being Canadian https://3downnation.com/2024/05/13/the-cfls-15-highest-paid-defensive-backs-for-the-2024-season/

-I want to give love to Castillo. He’s looking like prime Medlock out there. Has he missed a kick since the whole chipped ball fiasco? - I also want to give love to our cover team, completely eliminated Dedmon all game long and got some nasty shots on him - I said this in another thread but i thought our secondary was outstanding as a whole . What a big signing Ford ended up being he’s been on lock down since a rough opening game . There’s the obvious ones like Brady and Streveler. A lot of hard earned runs tonight, feels good to get the win, I mean ultimately we’ve been more competitive each week we need to match that energy and then some next week against Calgary.

I thought our secondary was excellent. In fact it’s been getting better every game. Only allowing a 126 yards ( a big chunk of it being on that last play of the first half) holding guys like Rhymes for 1 catch for 2 yards and Addison for 7 yards was a great effort. Ford has been the real deal. After a rough first game he’s been lock down. I thought Nichols and Bonds were both also outstanding.

Yeah exactly the whole point of RPO is giving you the most options to succeed. Big hole? Hand it off, open receiver throw the ball, no holes, no open receiver take it out wide and run the balll. I think a full week of game planning will help us get accustomed to what Streveler does best. -
I’ve only watched about a combined 5 minutes of the game because I’ve been doing stuff around the house but man I’ve seen him drop like three passes, sure that was a touch catch on the pass that ended up being an INT but your right, a number one receiver comes down with that catch, and instead it gets tipped for a pick six. Brutal.

Bomber bias aside it was a clean hit. Pretty much text book. Would I like to see a flag on a play where my QB is injured? Probably. But I can’t justify it as a dirty play. -

Is anyone in this organization going to wake up? Do they just consider this a lost season? or are they just arrogant because of past success? I can’t imagine week after week the organization could just sit here and say yep this is fine. They obviously have a deep rooted attachment to these guys who are no longer starting caliber players.. -

There’s another western 0-4 team who could have used him! Oh well. -

I would be very curious to see how these statistics are determined. Obviously they’re garbage. But like I’ve always said, the eye test always beats the “fancy” numbers. Also I DO NOT WANT O’Shea and the coaching staff seeing this tweet.. -

No offence but look at how much better his offensive line was in 2019.
