I'm thinking they might bridge him for 2 years. At that time Wheeler's contract is up , and there will be more money available to pay him. He likely supplants Schiefele as 1C too.

Austin Matthews hits 60 goals! First player since Stamkos in 2011-2012. Oddly enough Stamkos scored his 60th against the Jets. Big milestone. I hate the Leafs but gotta give credit where it's due. Congrats Mr. Matthews! -

Comrie does look like he's playing with a tonne of confidence this year. I wasn't sold on him being the backup this year but he's proven me wrong. Jets pp is absolutely horrendous without 55. We need to get a defence man who can shoot the puck. I hope KCON hits 50.
