Bombers Rookie Camp/Training Camp/Pre-Season Thread
GCn20 replied to Noeller's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
I get your concerns IF the roster was frozen and this is who we got for the year, but a hundred guys just got cut around the league and only 70% of the players in the league last year were re-signed in the offseason. There are players, experienced players, that can be added at pretty much every position if we need to do so. I'm really not seeing the problem I guess. I have total faith that Walters has a list of replacements ready for every position from both our roster/PR and from the current CFL FA and cut down lists not to mention our own recruiting that never stops. -

Roster management sometimes about how easy it is to pick up the phone and get someone who isn't currently on our roster. Bighill goes down...Sankey is out there....if BO goes down, no one has picked up Salima. I get that on the outside it looks odd, but Walters is likely looking at overall talent and the ability to add more easily in a pinch. Is it easier to find an import OT or an import LBer in a pinch or easier to find a decent RB if BO goes down...I think we know the answer to that. DE looks thin, but Lemon, S. Banks, or McAlister are a phone call away. It's not panic time for us because not every I is dotted or every T is crossed before week 1. Who knows maybe there are some guys we are waiting on for them to come here that the Bombers think are studs. -

The XFL, while not having any official provision for it, has said all along they would release any player if they wanted to go to the CFL. -

I trust KW to make the moves necessary to win. He has shown us time and time again that he can do so. We have watched him make so many in season pivots at key positions, when injuries have hit, with fantastic results that I just don't worry about that anymore. Some vets will need to be replaced via trade for immediate impact. There is no recruitment we could have done that would replace a Bighill if he gets hurt this year. The only viable option is a vet in this circumstance. I get everyone's concern about succession planning, but we are in win now mode and that doesn't leave a ton of roster space. We have a window and the Bombers have chosen to seize their best opportunity to win while in that window. Will it mean a bigger rebuild later....maybe years ago...but not in the age of one year contracts. We will reload. If Bighill gets hurt....Sankey is out there doing diddly squat right now. -

Wins and losses each need to total 81. Wins and losses must be equal and each tie takes one of each away.

It might be concerning, however, we haven't even seen him play yet. Also, a lot of people are forgetting that this time of year PRs are not really settled. Walters and every other GM will be going over every other teams cuts to look at guys that may be worth looking at here. It's how we got Lawler originally. -

I'm not surprised by Leggs cut at all. Once we signed Castillo I thought the writing was on the wall because he is an average at best punter. -

Injuries ravaged our team last year, and we went 15-3. Actually, I'm going to say 15-2 because we played an exhibition games at the end the year. I get that people are worried...but I think people are overstating it a bit. We are easily the most talented team in the West, we are easily the best coached, and we are still the deepest. Much concern about nothing. Our aging vets are still the class of the league. Injuries are part of football and no team is better prepared for them than us. -
There certainly is a bunch of liars in Ottawa...soon they will no longer govern

For reporting the results of a Leger poll, one of the most credible polling firms in Canada? 72% of the country disagrees with you.

No doubt. Don't take it personally this guy just attacks any poster who disagrees with him. Needs to get laid methinks. -

How does today's news prove me wrong? Totally different player and scenario. -
The political landscape is becoming so polarized that people will wilfully ignore the corruption of the party they favor and blindly vote for them again. It's sad.
-
You do you...but you will never convince me for even 5 seconds that you weren't voting JT. Nice attempt at reverse psyche tho. Didn't work...but nice try. Further to this I have no issues with a lot of the Liberal policies. I voted Chretien, Martin and really liked their governments. What I don't like is any incarnation of Liberal leadership after that and Trudeau's aversion to honesty and transparency. It makes a Mockery of democracy. If you can see past that well that's up to you. I'm not here to convince anyone to change their convictions. I just won't reward corruption by voting for it.
-
2 years? Dream on. One year at the most. NDP will terminate this agreement as their polling clearly suggests they should. And they were rightfully voted out. No argument from me about that. I can admit that Harper's time was up. Unlike you guys that don't share the same awareness of when a government and leader have clearly exceeded their expiry date. I wonder what the ethics commissioner had to say about Trudeau's Liberal government? Hmm...one former governments record on display while the current government gets a free pass despite much more serious ethics violations. Weird how this thread works.

It doesn't matter to you I guess. I am happy with the conclusions I have drawn as being the most overwhelmingly likely scenario with any other interpretation being a fractional % chance of accuracy. I will reserve my todaso for when we probably get the whole story from the horse's mouth in the near future, and it ends up being exactly as I described. -

Well, I would expect you to take that tack after floating out the disciplinary theory. -
Yes it sure is, but not for the reasons you are thinking that's for sure. It is an absolute farce that Trudeau picked a family friend and board member of the Trudeau foundation to head this up. It is a farce that Trudeau dictated what he could and couldn't investigate. It is a farce that he will not call a public inquiry on this that would be an independant legal proceeding, that is binding, and would determine it's own scope to investigate these matters. If you don't see that this reeks, then you are just being blindly biased. The country overwhelmingly wants an independant inquiry. Trudeau will continue to plummet in the polls unless he reverses course. He is paving the way for Prime Minister Poilievre.
-
I will take it any day, and twice on Sunday, if it means getting rid of what I consider the most corrupt and inept prime minister in the history of Canada. My respect for truth and democracy? What a laugh. NO PRIME MINISTER has ever shown less concern for truth and democracy than Justin Trudeau and it is why any alternative is better for Canada right now. Worst that can happen is Poilievre wins a minority that handcuffs his ability to really do anything too over the top because he has no natural allies in parliament. At the same time the Liberals will dump Trudeau, and his scandal plagued, dishonest cohorts and bring in a new leader that will hopefully know enough not to act with the same hubris. They will then partner with the NDP to take down Poilievre and probably get re-elected again. I will trade a couple years of a neutered Poilievre to get rid of Trudeau any day of the week and twice on Sunday. That is how much I revere truth and democracy because Trudeau has run roughshod over both of these ideals.

Sorry but if it walks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, I am going to use a little bit of reasonable deduction and assume it's a duck. I am not like you and will not ask it to prove it's not a moose because there is a 1% chance it's a moose in disguise. I can't prove i am right, but I would wager big money on it and I think most people on this forum will think the conclusion i have come to, based on everything we know on this, is more than reasonable. So...a big whatever to you...I guess. -
No kidding. Jagmeet sent them a life line, that would also get him out of a bit of an optics jam himself, and they just swam away from it. Nonsensical really. This is going to be the death of their government and they seem oblivious to it.

How does this demonstrate any involvement by the CPC in the manufacturing of this scandal? That is completely false narrative, and is unfounded. One could easily define that as a conspiracy theory. In several quotes the CPC outlined the question they were asking and why. Any suggestion of another motive is pure speculation. You guys can't throw stones about made up facts, and then make them up yourselves to fit your narrative. Seems you are caught up in the conspiracy theory being floated here that this was what PP was referencing. Unfortunate, that you have fallen victim to this disinformation campaign. Yet they will be forming government soon.
-
Tinfoil hattery is implying that was what Poilievre was referring to. FACT: JT left his job abruptly and without notice in the middle of the final term FACT: In 7 different articles by journalists he is quoted giving 7 different responses as to why. CONSPIRACY THEORY: That he left mid term because of sex scandal CONSPIRACY THEORY: The the CPC planted this rumor CONSPIRACY THEORY: That PP was referencing the sex scandal in his remarks in parliament. PP was referencing the mysterious circumstances, and varying answers by Trudeau himself, as to why his teaching career suddenly crashed and burned. Only a conspiracy nut would think PP was referencing any more than that as it most certainly is NOT what he said, nor is there any proof that is what he was implying. Conspiracy theories work both ways. It is embarrassing that some far right media seems to have concocted a wild theory, but if you don't want wild speculation out there maybe just tell the truth and quit hiding it. Trudeau, it seems is not very good at that and it was a skill acquired pre-politics.
-
There most certainly is public record that Trudeau left the private academy abruptly mid term, and public record that in 7 different interviews he gave 7 different answers as to why. It is not conspiratorial at all to raise any questions about why that is. It seems Trudeau has a deep seeded aversion to transparency that stems from even before he was in politics. I wonder if Gerald Butts was already working for him then?
