Hmmm....in the past few months we have turned down massive trade deals with both Germany and Japan on natural gas worth hundreds of billions of dollars. I suppose that probably doesn't fly too well in Alberta with those hoping for a big boost to the patch. Bill C-41 and C-69 were bills that went over like a lead balloon in Alberta as well. The carbon tax is pretty much viewed as one created to hurt big oil production as well. I believe Trudeau was a big factor in Notley's loss. She completely underestimated how reviled the Liberals are in Alberta and could have easily won her election if she simply promised to continue the fight against the Feds on various policies such as carbon tax, and measures and bills created to slow down oil production.

A lot of moderates and centrist voters plugged their nose and voted for Smith. It is absolute nonsense to suggest that 50% of Albertans are extremist, racist, and bigoted. Just garbage to say that really. I know that many here are disappointed in the NDP loss, but this kind of conjecture about any modern mainstream party's voters is out to lunch. It's bizarre really. A lot of voters vote based on one or two key areas of concern to them. That's just the facts. They probably aren't in love with Smith or the band of looney tunes that inhabit PARTS of her party but when looking at voting issues they saw no alternative because Notley just did not represent what they wanted/needed from government. Some of you guys may not like to hear this, but their are many Canadians that value the economy over ecology. Their are many Canadians that value lower taxes over government spending. Their are many Alberta voters who did not trust Notley to stand up to Trudeau and get the oil patch up again. That does not make any of them extreme, bigoted, or racist. That's just plain nonsense.

My buying group has voted to take the upgrade and pay extra. I am in a group with a few other businesses that use the tickets for promotional purposes so we write them off anyway. I can see that as being an attractive option for season tix holders who use them for business purposes. Probably who they are trying to attract with this offering. Taking clients or using tix for promotional/employee rewards and upping the ante on the experience is worth a few hundred bucks.

Suspensions happen all the time for non-disciplinary reasons. We've had numerous players over the past few years be added to the suspended list for the purposes of attending the birth of their child for instance. A suspension just means the team doesn't have to pay you for the time missed, and opens up a roster spot to replace you while not having to hide you on the IR and pay you.

Notley should have made a much greater effort to snuff out any sort of implication she was in league with Trudeau. Needed to come right out and declare war on him like the UCP did and she probably wins this election going away. People hate Trudeau in Alberta more than they like Notley.

How about debating the content of my post for once instead of just hurling accusations at the poster. You are probably right in today's Manitoba politics. Like I say this ebbs and flows. Howard Pawley, Gary Doer, and to a lesser extent Greg Selinger had incredibly racist members of their caucuses and that should not be overlooked. Racism is not something new, and it shouldn't be confined when speaking about natives to the "past few years". It cheapens the depth of the conversation needed. Also, federally the Liberals are by far the worst offenders on native racism in the history of Canada and currently despite all the virtue signalling continue to oppose natives in court, and have an endless stream of broken promises and have outright misleaded native leadership at every turn while continuing to enforce the Indian Act and refuse to entertain any notion of modernization of the Act or the outright repealing of it. You are barking up the wrong tree if you think I am a Trump supporter. That man is loony and needs to go. I am NOT in favor of the far right, and am repelled by it. Great they are the government. Like I say, where did my alternative lack context? You felt the need to label that government, and I feel that is not necessary as ALL governments have put racist policy in place, or refused to remove racist policy. This current government happens to be PC, the NDP and the federal Liberals are just as bad when it comes to racist policy. I feel that is more important to point out than pretending it's a one party problem and it all goes away if we vote right and whether you like it or not, when you label racism to one party, you are giving other parties a free pass by default.

But to be clear, because you appear confused, no....I do not think racism is a Canada only problem.

At various times, they all ebb and flow. If I am looking at who the most racist is I always look at who is in power because they have the ability to do something and don't. However, from a voting base it's probably and easily the far right followed closely by Laurentian elite. The Liberals and PCs by far outpace the NDP on racism, however the NDP does have racist segments in their support as well. Tbh, I was not all that offended by JTs brown face. I think that was just a stupid mistake of a costume with no real inherent racism intended.
