  1. Nothing out to lunch about it, and it is something the Bombers have done many times in the past by their own admission. Your Bighill comparison is not valid because the team will reach out to the player and see if they agree to be added to the suspended list. MOS spoke at length about this on the coaches show during TC last year. When suspended the player does not receive his TC per diem, but is free to go home until whatever date they agree upon. Bighill may very well have been approached and said no I wanna stay in camp.
  2. Conspiratorial? There are public records to show that this reference is not a conspiracy.
  3. https://www.theglobeandmail.com/business/commentary/article-lng-canada-trudeau-germany-japan/ https://www.theglobeandmail.com/business/commentary/article-lng-canada-trudeau-germany-japan/ Not quite as cut and dried as you would make it seem.
  4. Every newspaper across Canada and a quick google search ought to bring you there. I'm not going to track you down something that every media outlet in the country reported on just because it appears you missed it.
  5. Hmmm....in the past few months we have turned down massive trade deals with both Germany and Japan on natural gas worth hundreds of billions of dollars. I suppose that probably doesn't fly too well in Alberta with those hoping for a big boost to the patch. Bill C-41 and C-69 were bills that went over like a lead balloon in Alberta as well. The carbon tax is pretty much viewed as one created to hurt big oil production as well. I believe Trudeau was a big factor in Notley's loss. She completely underestimated how reviled the Liberals are in Alberta and could have easily won her election if she simply promised to continue the fight against the Feds on various policies such as carbon tax, and measures and bills created to slow down oil production.
  6. He practiced the first day. He would not have been allowed to do so unless he passed his physical. Nice try but as usual you are out to lunch.
  7. A lot of moderates and centrist voters plugged their nose and voted for Smith. It is absolute nonsense to suggest that 50% of Albertans are extremist, racist, and bigoted. Just garbage to say that really. I know that many here are disappointed in the NDP loss, but this kind of conjecture about any modern mainstream party's voters is out to lunch. It's bizarre really. A lot of voters vote based on one or two key areas of concern to them. That's just the facts. They probably aren't in love with Smith or the band of looney tunes that inhabit PARTS of her party but when looking at voting issues they saw no alternative because Notley just did not represent what they wanted/needed from government. Some of you guys may not like to hear this, but their are many Canadians that value the economy over ecology. Their are many Canadians that value lower taxes over government spending. Their are many Alberta voters who did not trust Notley to stand up to Trudeau and get the oil patch up again. That does not make any of them extreme, bigoted, or racist. That's just plain nonsense.
  8. My buying group has voted to take the upgrade and pay extra. I am in a group with a few other businesses that use the tickets for promotional purposes so we write them off anyway. I can see that as being an attractive option for season tix holders who use them for business purposes. Probably who they are trying to attract with this offering. Taking clients or using tix for promotional/employee rewards and upping the ante on the experience is worth a few hundred bucks.
  9. It could be literally anything, family related...maybe he was getting auditted by the IRS....who knows. All we know is the club felt it was a good enough reason, or may even have requested themselves for roster purposes and JG agreed.
  10. Suspensions happen all the time for non-disciplinary reasons. We've had numerous players over the past few years be added to the suspended list for the purposes of attending the birth of their child for instance. A suspension just means the team doesn't have to pay you for the time missed, and opens up a roster spot to replace you while not having to hide you on the IR and pay you.
  11. This works on both sides of the spectrum. Just in the last few pages of the thread with Alberta election discussion I have seen a few comments suggesting that anyone who supported the UCP in Alberta is some far right loony. That characterization is about as accurate as the one Noeller is mocking. The UCP won with a great deal of support from the centre and moderate right. It is ridiculous to point all supporters of a governing party able to win an election as extreme. Just nonsense.
  12. He reported to camp passed his physical received his roster bonus for doing so as stipulated in most player's contracts and then was likely given the option to stay, or go home until week 2 so they could open up a very valuable roster spot. If he stays he gets the TC per diem which is peanuts, or he goes home and does not get it but has an extra week with his family. There really isn't much more to it than that. He is not competing for a job, his is as safe as it gets.
  13. Sure. My definition of the far left is anything to the left of social democracy. The radical or extreme parts of the far left I would define as any extremist, militant, or insurgent groups or individuals that attempt to realize the ideals of the left through political violence as opposed to using the democratic process. I agree with your definition. I don't even mind protests so much as long as they are peaceful. I see nothing wrong with oil pipeline protests, or abortion rights rallies etc. When these become violent, or criminal, then they cross the threshold for me. I don't believe calling Trump for what he is to be radical, or far left, just as I don't believe calling out Trudeau for being crap is a function of the far right. Nice hyperbole.
  14. No he cannot, and yes he could be prosecuted for doing so if he were to break the law. JCon is just making stuff up. Parliamentry privilege does NOT protect an MP from these kind of criminal acts. Matters of national security that are classified MAY NOT be discussed openly in parliament, and become a criminal act as enacted in 1965 revisions to Parliamentry Privilege house rules.
  15. Parliamentry privilege does not extend to criminal matters of national security as revised in 1965. Parliamentry censure is applicable and enforceable by prosecution. If PP, or any other MP, were to openly discuss classified information in parliament they are NOT exempt from prosecution for doing so. You are calling him a liar and you don't even know what you are talking about. SMH. The exact same argument could be made about Trudeau.
  16. Notley should have made a much greater effort to snuff out any sort of implication she was in league with Trudeau. Needed to come right out and declare war on him like the UCP did and she probably wins this election going away. People hate Trudeau in Alberta more than they like Notley.
  17. I don't want a Sankey clone at MLB. I don't like one dimensional MLBs.
  18. There is no victim strategy, that is simply you once again attacking me as a poster because you don't enjoy the content of my posts. It's accurate. Not once have you mentioned the content of my posts, disagreed with them or argued against them. You have simply told me what shortcomings you feel I have as the person posting the content. That type of engagement isn't particularly fruitful to any debate. If you don't agree with the content of my post feel free to discuss, if you want to discuss my motivations, or other personal attacks you are not really reinforcing anything other than your disdain for someone holding an opposing viewpoint. Which is fine, but let's not pretend that it makes you some angel and me some devil. I am sickened by GOP and far left politics creeping their way into Canada. I have never denied colonial England's racism has impacted Canada however that was not the discussion was it? I am not sure why you are expecting that I should go off on tangents in a conversation about Canadian politics and then come up with a whopper like because I didn't mention England/France/Catholic church/Anglican church that I am denying their racism and the effect it had on my people. Geez Louise that's some convoluted logic right there. Why am I only defending Trudeau? I am not sure how to even respond to that. I have no idea what you are getting at. I defended him because YOU cited it as an example. This is quite the game of silly bugger you are playing...well done. You almost had me....lol.
  19. I don't think the GOVERNMENT should have done that. The government happens to be PC. There you happy. I will not pigeon hole racism to one party. PERIOD. It removes the massive specter of systemic racism by doing that, and I'm sorry that you are unable to understand that. I have no doubt that when forming GOVERNMENT that the PCs have acted in a racist manner towards natives on many files, and in many policies, and with many slips of the tongue. I also have no doubt that any GOVERNMENT in Canada past and present has done the same because the issue goes beyond party lines and is systemic. Also, I don't remember even being active in this thread when Trudeaus' blackface occurred and if I had I would have dismissed the whole conversation as being silly and a media creation that again cheapens real racist acts. Trudeau's blackface was not racist, it was just an error in judgement imo. There....you have me defending Trudeau now....for cripes sakes.
  20. How about debating the content of my post for once instead of just hurling accusations at the poster. It's not a particularly compelling counter to anything I've said when you just make up accusations about me but say nothing on the actual meat of the debate. It makes you look bad not me. For sure. Saddens me that these wingnuts seem to be increasingly gaining footholds into the mainstream. Some of these political conversations are just for fun for me, however, talking about systemic racism and impediments to recognizing it is not fun for me. By not recognizing that racism towards natives is systemic and does not follow party lines sets back any hope for my people. I will rail against that at all times.
  21. I don't give a fig about England or the US. That is not my country. I am not giving anyone a free pass, I just see no need to bring them up in a discussion about Manitoba/Canada politics. You are seriously reaching almost to the point of being nonsensical. As for defending racism where in blue blazes did you get that idea from? Show me once in any of my posts where I have defended racism. That is purely YOU attacking me as a poster with completely unfounded and ludicrous accusations. Just beyond the pale of warped logic.
  22. You are probably right in today's Manitoba politics. Like I say this ebbs and flows. Howard Pawley, Gary Doer, and to a lesser extent Greg Selinger had incredibly racist members of their caucuses and that should not be overlooked. Racism is not something new, and it shouldn't be confined when speaking about natives to the "past few years". It cheapens the depth of the conversation needed. Also, federally the Liberals are by far the worst offenders on native racism in the history of Canada and currently despite all the virtue signalling continue to oppose natives in court, and have an endless stream of broken promises and have outright misleaded native leadership at every turn while continuing to enforce the Indian Act and refuse to entertain any notion of modernization of the Act or the outright repealing of it. You are barking up the wrong tree if you think I am a Trump supporter. That man is loony and needs to go. I am NOT in favor of the far right, and am repelled by it. I just happen to think the far left is also very problematic.
  23. Great they are the government. Like I say, where did my alternative lack context? You felt the need to label that government, and I feel that is not necessary as ALL governments have put racist policy in place, or refused to remove racist policy. This current government happens to be PC, the NDP and the federal Liberals are just as bad when it comes to racist policy. I feel that is more important to point out than pretending it's a one party problem and it all goes away if we vote right and whether you like it or not, when you label racism to one party, you are giving other parties a free pass by default.
  24. What details were missing from context with my alternative to your post. We were talking about Canadian politics. Jeez you are reaching now. Do you want to go over the entire world? We can do that but it would take some time. I was asked specifically what political parties in Canada do I feel are most racist. I answered and your response is what was weird. But to be clear, because you appear confused, no....I do not think racism is a Canada only problem.
  25. At various times, they all ebb and flow. If I am looking at who the most racist is I always look at who is in power because they have the ability to do something and don't. However, from a voting base it's probably and easily the far right followed closely by Laurentian elite. The Liberals and PCs by far outpace the NDP on racism, however the NDP does have racist segments in their support as well. Tbh, I was not all that offended by JTs brown face. I think that was just a stupid mistake of a costume with no real inherent racism intended.
