I will tell you how I think, and it's just my opinion, that it would be better served to have said what you said. Instead of saying "closeted PC racism" a far more accurate descriptor would be "closeted government racism". It takes the party politics out of it, and broadens the net to all who are culpable.
-
Is that what you think I'm saying? Discuss racism for sure, discuss racist practices. However, don't label it to one party as it is systemic and putting it under one party's tent does combatting it a disservice. If you want to call out a racist policy go ahead and who implemented it. However, do so recognizing that when these policies were exacted is just a microcosm of 200 years of colonial racist policy and that everyone needs to do better. "Closeted PC racism" makes it sound like one party's problem when in fact the Liberals and NDP are grossly populated by racists as well. And don't give me this crap that he was just so happening to bring up an instance of a PC government, his intent was to label the PCs as being more racist than any other party and that is complete fallacy and does nothing to advance anyone's awareness and mitigation of racism. Yes I will call out people who get on a soap box to sell their political party over another using racism as a lever. I have seen and heard many disgusting things come out of the mouth of MPs/MLAs of all political stripes and it's time we all start acknowledging that racism is not a one party problem.

It's pretty bad for sure. Hard to believe they won. I lean to the right of the political spectrum but your Alberta PCs are way too far over to the right for me.
-
The only hope for the left in Alberta is if you get another Wild Rose kind of party that splinters the right. Alberta leans heavily to the right, and that isn't changing anytime soon. When even a wingnut like Smith can win a majority there isn't much hope for those that are centre-right/left.
-
I am NOT defending Alberta government's management of health care by any stretch of the imagination. Just stating that they won't leave if some privatization occurs. It would be for other reasons.
-
A third party only splits the vote.
-
You stated "closeted PC racism". That is singling one party out. If you don't want to be called out on hypocrisy don't be hypocritical and quit trying to pretend you weren't implying exactly what you were implying. It's disingenuous. Defending racism? That is about the stupidest accusation ever to make to someone who has been a victim of racism his entire life. Get a clue. I just won't allow any party to be singled out for racism when it runs rampant in EVERY party and EVERY party's supporters to some degree. That's just the facts. No one gets a free pass from me, and no one gets to single out another party for racism until their own party gets their's in check too. I have a feeling he will be the leader of the provincial Liberals in time.

Doctors, contrary to popular belief, are not against a private/public hybrid.

Politics rarely rewards leaders that lose elections. Personal popularity or not.

One party was named. Go back and read it. If it was meant to include all parties, or people therein, it wasn't worded as such. They just have big time cash flow problems and no avenues really to get any. I know they have been working really hard behind the scenes to try become the defacto party representing native interests but I am not sure how fruitful that is financially for them.
-
That will be an interesting race for sure. I know Robert well and he is as solid a poltician as there is. Unfortunately, this will probably drain votes from the NDP in what was already going to be a very tight race. I think you are going to see a very high level of aboriginal candidates that will raise some eyebrows coming out of the Liberal camp in the next few months. Noel Bernier, is an excellent recruiter for the Liberals and has been working non-stop for them.

I'm pretty surprised at the outcome in AB. Wouldn't surprise me to see Notley get pushed out now. If there was ever an election ripe for the taking this was the one. Much like here in Manitoba, there is a massive disconnect between NDP and the rural constituencies. Just goes to show that despite having wing nuts in every party, many voters still vote for the party that best presents their platform. Rural AB wants the rigs up and running full tilt and obviously didn't trust the NDP to do that.
-
So racism is exclusive to the PC is it? I got news for you...if you don't think their are many racist NDPs and Libs then you have never faced racism. I've seen racism from every side of the political spectrum and that is an undeniable truth. It is atrocious for any political party supoorter to get on their soap box and pretend their rich entitled white men/women are more racially virtuous than another's. As a native Canadian I can honestly say that the Libs/Cons/NDP federally and provincially let their actions, or lack thereof, speak volumes.

I'm not under rating anyone. Why is it that when someone says that player X seems poised to challenge player Y they think it's a knock on Player Y? I think Woli is a heck of a receiver, I also think BOLO will be better in time. -

Wouldn't surprise me at all if he not only rosters, but makes Drew W. see the bench a fair bit. I love me some Woli but I could legit see BOLO pushing him out, maybe even towards the end of this year. -
I don't need to show my work. This isn't some high school debate. I have my opinion you guys have yours. I'm happy with that. You guys don't like someone has a different opinion and you say you've shown your work? I haven't seen that in any meaningful way. You guys take snippets of my posts, spin them out of context and offer weak sauce proof as a rebuttal. I just went for a day defending well known and university taught economic theory from your guys total BS about it. I have a Masters degree in Economics and you guys are arguing with me that tax cuts are deficit spending? I dont need to prove anything to any of you when this is the level of debate im facing.Frankly I don't give 2 figs whether you guys agree with me or not. If you don't like what I say ignore it. IDGAF. I'm not here to convince you that my views are right or wrong. I am simply stating my perspective and unlike you guys I am perfectly fine if they turn out to be incorrect. I'm just not going to sit silently and let you guys demonize anyone on the right side of the political spectrum. It's horseshit.

Who said anything about tax cuts for the rich? That again is the misconception. Tax cuts do not have to even include the rich. Would a reduction in taxes to middle and lower income families not do a lot of good? Again, I stress that a tax cut need not be deficit spending nor does it even have to include the upper echelons of the income levels. Saying that tax cuts only benefit the rich is patently false. That is only true if the cuts themselves are actually designed to favor them. Just as social programming does not necessarily make spending acceptable. It is only acceptable if the spending and programs are not wasteful and provide the appropriate value for their cost. ...and yes Nazis might be the exception to the rule...and child molesters.

Anti-fascism in and of itself is not a bad thing. Using violence and destruction to promote your beliefs is. I come from a race that has historically been subject to racism, I would call out my own people if they chose violence as a path forward. Thanks for the link, I did not realize it was simply a retweet and I do agree with the premise but would not agree that it is a justification for violence if it came to that.
-
I am in total agreement with you on your above post. Government is a cesspool and it is very hard to have an ounce of trust in anyone. Just as tax cuts are unlikely to be managed correctly, I believe the same for deficit spending to increase social programs. Neither are very sound strategies when the dollars are manipulated by crooks. For this reason, in the past 3 elections I have not voted for any party. I have registered a protest vote.

Dude...I'm not even going to bother reading any drivel written by Westwood. As for ANTIFA being extreme...they most certainly are. I'm not even going to debate that. If you don't feel the same way fill your boots. We will agree to disagree. I have no problem with anyone being anti-fascist or anti-racism, what I will never support is condoning violence and crime in order to further these causes. That is extreme.

Might get a series or two to knock some dust off but it wouldn't shock me if he didn't play at all. -
By that reasoning the right could easily say the biggest left wingnut took over the Liberal party. However, I do agree that Poilievre really needs to come to centre if he wants to win over the country. Just as Trudeau needs to tone down the rhetoric and virtue signalling if he wants to retain power. Before you say that Poilievre is a bigger wingnut than Trudeau, I would recommend looking at the polls. Poilievre is leading in support for who would make the best PM. That ought to be a huge wake up call for Trudeau to pull his head out of his butt don't you think?
-
There are definitely NDP and grit supporters that would qualify as extreme. It is nonsense to suggest otherwise. Each of the federal parties cast wide nets for support and in kind have some supporters from the extremes. I do not deny for one minute that CPC has attracted it's share of wingnuts. I don't believe for one second that the party has been completely hijacked by them though. That's just the posturing of the left to paint all on the right as extreme. I do not find it extreme for a person to be a Christian and follow Christian beliefs, it's not my cup of tea but it's not extreme. I do not find it extreme to want small government and the resumption of the oil industry. Just as I don't paint all Liberals as ANTIFA supporting wingnuts, or socialists. It would be comically inappropriate to suggest that. I think a big part of the problem is that the left and right extremes dominate the news cycle now while the average supporter is just too boring to talk about. If you were to ask people on the left they would say that the right has been hijacked by the extremes, well newsflash....the right feels the same way about the left. Neither is correct, though both sides will suggest they are and the media seems to have some perverse attraction to keeping this charade alive.

I argue with a lot of people about a lot of things on this thread. However, I was not really speaking about the people here in that statement. Just generally what i am seeing overall in Canada and the US, in particular. I find most people here pretty moderate on most issues. I have seen no extremism that I can really recall, just difference in ideologies. Without all the emotion tied into some of the posts, I don't think anyone is all that far apart here.
