  1. That would be my guess. I think the Bombers draft strategy right now is BPA, and they don't feel that will be an OL when our turn comes. We really have no room on the roster for a high OL draft pick right now. Greaves, Eric Wilson are other examples.
  2. You don't know what proof was presented to the media by the whistleblower. The media outlet felt that the burden of proof was enough to protect them from being successfully sued. Let's have an inquiry and find out. It is what the vast majority of Canadians, and MPs want. Trudeau is making it look like he has something to hide. Pollievre has a scandal. Trudeau is playing right into his hands by hiding the facts.
  3. It can happen but it is very rare. Kongbo was the exception not the rule. Most teams will not entertain the idea. Might see more of it now with the spring leagues in order to get these guys signed though.
  4. We picked Dobson 3rd overall (that is the very definition of a high draft pick) and yes I am going to ignore the list of players released to go to the NFL because that list is very small and it is pretty rare actually. CFL draft picks have no NFL window for the first two years of their contract, that means NFL teams are not even allowed to talk to them. Are you even going to look things up before calling someone's info inaccurate?
  5. I was just reading the Globe and Mail and it says even if Dong did meet and suggest this that it is not criminal. It is just morally reprehensible. However, if it were later proven he had ties to the CCP and was their puppet, that would be treason. Let's have an inquiry and find out.
  6. I agree. The whole meeting with dignitaries thing is certainly allowed. If he asked the Chinese government to delay their release...that is treason. Let's have an inquiry on the whole thing and find out. You don't know if there is no evidence. You cannot state that because the PM refuses to let the public know what evidence or non-evidence there is. Simple as that. It is your OPINION that there is no evidence but that is purely based on good faith. There may be evidence. Let's have an inquiry and find out. Very serious allegations are being made in the media, not just the right wing media either, and it's time the public got to see the basis for these allegations in full. If it is baseless great, if not...we need to know. Polls are saying that 70% of Canadians want an inquiry. What is this prime minister trying to hide?
  7. I disagree. In the CFL you are locked in for 2 years without NFL option. In the spring leagues you can play well and be signed in the NFL at any point of your contract. NFL likes to sign players when they are young. The XFL and USFL are better choices for many high draft picks who just need some pro film to gain NFL interest. OL, in particular, are always in high demand in the NFL and NFL teams are more willing to groom them over time if they are young. Sitting for 2 years in the CFL does not help that.
  8. There was election interference. That is not conjecture. There should be an inquiry because transparency is needed. Just because a CSIS employee breached their oath does not change that FACT.
  9. I feel like they aren't pencilling him in there, but he will likely win the job because he is a beast.
  10. If our coaches feel this is his best route than I fully support it. We have seen a good number of success stories in the CFL of guys flipping sides and yea...your logic is solid as to why. It's all about upside and a too a big degree a player's stated willingness to sit on the PR through development. It really doesn't make a whole lot of sense for us to take a high round OL right now as that's where we would have to put them. Realistically moving Adamson isn't about this year at all. It's a futures move for down the road when Neufeld retires or possibly Adamson shows something at OT....who knows. At the end of the day, the Bombers feel Adamson would be unlikely to make our squad as a DT, this gives him a chance to possibly catch on in a different role.
  11. We likely won't see because Trudeau refuses to call a public inquiry. The question marks will remain. This could very well be much ado about nothing but the PMs response to all of it has been bizarre.
  12. I won't dispute any of that. However, during the election cycle Doer sang a much different tune and Manitobans voted for it. What you do between elections can be explained away with a good spin doctor.
  13. I am a full blooded native man with treaty status. FULL STOP. I do not like violence against women. Many of my family, friends, and associates of native bloodline feel the same way. I am sure that his race has a lot to do with many people's perception of him for sure. However, it is ridiculous to suggest that it is the underlying motivator when discussing his past indiscretions. Violence against women is heinous. Are there racists in Manitoba? Yea...I see it and live it everyday man and that sucks for Kinew as well but don't try to play the race card as a reason a lot of people are unwilling to dismiss his past. He has to wear it as he has never adequately been able to convince many of his innocence. Whataboutism is weak as well. Undoubtedly many people will not vote for him solely on the reason of race. Sad but true. Others will object to him based on the nature of his past indiscretions. It is up to Kinew to make believers out of the latter, and so far he has not been very convincing.
  14. He has a past that makes it hard to trust him for many people. He comes off as cocky as well. I agree that he is definitely holding them back. The NDP should be 20 points up in the polls right now. Also the party itself has not said anything of substance as to how they would govern and people really despised the last NDP government. Polls could move a lot if they would just come out and promise no tax increases, and they would govern like Doer did as a more centrist government. Manitoba likes left leaning governments but only slightly left, Manitobans voted in Pallister back to back with massive majorities each time on the promise of economic restraint, balanced budgets, and elimination of big government. The NDP can take a softer tact to that but simply cannot be too far left of centre or they will scare away those that are disenfranchised with Stefanson's PCs. At the end of the day, we've plugged our noses and voted against that style of government over and over again. That's the reality Kinew faces right now if he wants a majority government. The NDP's path to victory is to commit to health care, while running a balanced or near balanced budget, with a continued commitment to cutting red tape, while not being overly cozy with the unions. It's not as easy as it seems for him. He will have to break ranks with some of the old guard in his party just as Doer did.
  15. Shows just how crappy a lot of Manitobans think both parties are really. Everyone hates this PC government but obviously don't fully trust the NDP either.
  16. He would still be under contract. We wouldn't have had him last year or this year..maybe we get him in 2024.
  17. Liam Dobson was the first. However, there is talk that at least 2 of the projected top 10 picks in this draft may be leaning towards the spring leagues if they can't catch on in the NFL right away according to Farhan.
  18. We got Dobson back because his contract was voided when he had work visa issues. Had nothing to do with the NFL. If he doesn't have visa issues he is in the USFL right now. Dobson did not choose the CFL.
  19. Yea....it's unfortunate for sure. Hard to find too many DTs that stay healthy and have long careers. Those trenches just chew people up...particularly on the defensive side of the ball for some reason.
  20. The quote out of BC seems to indicate that he re-tore the achilles again when he was almost ready to come back. If so, it's likely a career ender.
  21. We need to get back to the OUR LEAGUE HAS BIGGER BALLS mentality of marketing. Sure wish we had that commissioner back. We saw a league renaissance of sorts, and then the bottom fell out when he left.
  22. That is exactly my point. Don't give the USFL/XFL any leg up on whose film to watch. NFL is NFL we aren't going to stop them and each of our top recruits will have their agents sending tape and their measurables to every team. The spring leagues can go pound sand and I wouldn't be running live stream combines so that they can look at measurables. We have lost top guys to the spring leagues already. We were lucky to get Dobson back, for instance. I don't think that livestreaming the combine would do much to spark fan interest, and would hurt our retention rate amongst the top of our draft classes. It's my opinion and I freely admit it could be wrong, but right now that's how I see it. The CFL does need better marketing to be sure, and a better and more accessible TV deal etc etc.
  23. Loser mentality? Who the hell do you think the CFL is? We are not in any position to be taking the high road on player recruitment particularly when in it comes to NAT talent. We have seen a significant drain on top end CFL talent over the past few years, and yes some of them are opting for the spring leagues as well.
  24. Mid 90's has the highest attendance overall, but we also had a bunch of extra teams at that time in the US.....and Baltimore was killing it in attendance in an ex-NFL stadium. Really drove those numbers up. 5 decades ago most stadiums were papered with 5 dollar tickets you could buy at 7-11 or the gas station. It's how I saw most of my games when I was a teenager. It was fantastic for the young fan, but not a very good business plan as the league fell into a financial black hole soon afterwards.
