  1. Oooh....the 40 creek irish cream is an absolute go to for me. Early morning fishing or sitting on my dock in the summer, and in my thermos for whatever winter activity I am doing. Love it. If you are waiting for a fish to bite before having a shot of fireball you are doing it wrong...lmao. I mean you can do that after, but we like some fireball when we get there, fireball when the holes are drilled, fireball when the tent is up. I am sure you can now see why i spend the vast majority of my ice fishing time 50 yards in front of my dock...lol. Reflective vest and crawl home....lmao.
  2. No doubt about that. If you paying for a QB like we are, or if BC was shelling out 600k, then you have to change your positional salary scale to accommodate it, so you better have good young players on the cheap ready in camp.
  3. Yetis are the king...but I'm a beer and fireball guy. Wife won't come within 5 feet of me the next day tho...lol. No kidding...this is a long overdue thread. In the summer it will transition nicely into soft water fishing. I think business will pick up on it too when some other members find it. For cripes sakes tho....no football to talk about really and Manitoba ice fishing season on the go....how did this not happen before. Yes...in my area I don't have to be so stealth as the chances of seeing a CO are pretty slim....but still, stealth is key,
  4. 600k is doable. We are paying Collaros 550k. Once you start getting into the 700k mark though....
  5. I hear ya. I've been out by myself grinding hard, and I've gone out to friends ice mansions and the lines barely get wet and it's a party. Both have their place. All I'm saying is if you are a big group out to give'er create some distance between yourself and the guy next to ya. I can't count the number of times I've hunkered down with a buddy in his ice shack for the night because there is no chance I can drive my snowmobile back. lol
  6. Yep...it's not cool with some people, but if you keep a respectful distance, don't bother your neighbor, and are nice and quiet, I see no issues with it. In Northern Manitoba being 50 yards away from someone is still a heck of a lot farther way than you get from someone in some of the South hotspots. That being said I've had a group of party guys follow me out before and blaring tunes, and being jackasses, and it ruins the day, I asked one group one time "Why did you bother following me, you obviously aren't here to fish anyway"...."Dude, we saw you have an auger and we don't have one" was the reply....lmao. I couldn't be upset with them after that.
  7. I have gone back over every Naylor tweet and retweet since August and there is no Naylor tweet that even remotely says anything in regard to that. I will ask you to provide a link because I think, quite frankly, you are lying. Prove me wrong. This, and the fact that 2 weeks ago you told the forum that you don't have twitter leads me to believe this. I call BS, and I think you are just being desperate right now, and it's kind of sad really. I also am a little bit POed that you encouraged me to try and find a tweet that doesn't exist. LINK...or I will just continue to ignore anything you say as a desperate attempt to move the goal posts because you dug in your heels when you were clearly wrong. Hey if you can find it, I'll be man enough to apologize.
  8. I fished through the ice last year right next to Clayton on Wekusko. He grinds hard for his footage though...lemme tell you. He is out hours before daylight and doesn't come off the ice until late. Had a beer with him in Snow Lake and he is the nicest guy. Don't disturb him when he's on the ice unless you see his flag before he does, but afterwards he will teach you all that he know. Just loves fishing that guy. He is out almost every day, and he told me that only 1 in 5 days is worth the filming, but he still loves those 4 other days on the ice/boat. He gets incredible support from all the lodge owners too. They are scouting for him for days before he gets there. With electronics the way they are now, sharpshooting is the way to go. Livescope is just so good and accurate that just driving structure ready to drop your jig is amazing. My buddy is so good at it, it's why we don't get small ones. We drop only when there is a big one. Through the ice....just find out where Clayton is going this week and follow him. lmao...jk....sort of...I've done it.
  9. Yea...people think I'm odd when I bring home a tub of suckers during their spawn in the Spring, but it is by far the best LT bait there is.
  10. Just never have. When I go Lake Trouting I'm usually sharpshooting on Clearwater, Tramping, or Athapap, for the big girls with Livescope and I'm fishing really deep with massive baits and there just aren't the little ones around where I target. Through the ice, I don't generally go for Lake Trout. That being said, it's probably because I only go for Lakers a couple times a year and mostly as Clearwater and the guy I go with is just insanely good at finding the big fish. He is a well known fishing guide up in the North. Even has his own fishing forum...lol. Woodstoves are the bomb if you can find one. Pretty popular this time of year...lol.
  11. 100% agree. According to Lalji the BC LIons have offered him 600k this year although I suspect TBurg will dispute that. That's a nice consolation prize. However, let's be real...the NFL is the NFL...it's what every young American QB dreams about and it is the holy grail of football. Rourke has a TON of time to take his shot down there and not leave any what ifs on the table, and still come back here and have a long and successful career if things don't work out in the NFL. The only way to play in the NFL is to sign in the NFL, and Rourke would be a fool at his age not to do so. When he does...I doubt he ever comes back. Of course Lawler is open to a return to the Elks, especially if they give him 300k again. I am positive he would be open to that.
  12. Never catch any that small.
  13. I don't mind smaller Lake Trout, but I rarely catch any under 10 lbs and I find over that they are oily. It's not the taste per se. I use the 1 lbers if I am off my home lake and it drives me nuts when I purchase them. There goes a case of beer. lol
  14. I use a 20 lber on my lil buddy. The price of 1 lbers is insane.
  15. Otter Monster lodge....whoah...I need Noeller money...lol. Pretty awesome unit.
  16. See you in August Tyrrell...hope I'm wrong but I doubt it.
  17. I like the BB...I use the lil Buddy because I just have a 2 man clam but if I ever get one bigger than that's the way I will go too. I won't be doing the winter camping thing because my ice hole is 50 yards from my dock, but it sure would be nice to have a 6-8 man for guests.
  18. Blecchh...you must have felt dirty after that.
  19. Lake Trout are a crap load of fun. I'm not big on eating them, but boy are they fun to catch. You might be right about pickeral vs mariah....I am just sick of them honestly, and rarely get mariah. Up here walleye on open water in the first month and a half of the season is as good as walleye through the ice down south so I end up making a pig of myself in the spring/early summer and find myself looking for other fish by the time August hits and I usually don't get hungry for them again until spring. Don't think I keep more than a handful of walleye each year through the ice. Sheridon/Cranberry/Flin Flon is some outstanding fishing. The air is different, and most importantly so is the quality of the water the fish are caught in. Don't care what anyone says, the fish in the North taste better. Just be careful with your propane heater and enjoy the winter camping!!
  20. One man's inconsistency is another man's big day. I get mad when I don't pull a dozen out on the ice, other guys dream of that day. It's all relative. I had a day last year on Wekusko with 4 walleyes over 28 inches and almost 50 walleye in total. Dream day, but unfortunately that becomes the bar afterwards and anything less seems anti-climactic. Went just after New Years to Paint Lake and caught about 8 walleye in the 22-24 inch range....I was kind of disappointed. Love the mariahs!! Would fish them all day every day if I knew there was lots of them. Best eating fish out there. Make a swing through the North someday, I'll take ya out to a few pretty special lakes up here. Ice or boat...your choice. Wekusko, or any of the Grass River chain is just exceptional fishing for size and numbers with lots of incidental Lake Trout hookups, Paint Lake has numbers....100 walleye days are not an exaggeration, and I've got spots that no one has heard of near my wife's reserve that are mind blowing.
  21. That would be another way to do it...sure.
  22. Logic would say that BLM would run for the hills away from any contract offer by the RIders. Their OL, coaching, roster all screams last place and broken QB. That being said, never underestimate BLM's hubris. He may think he can excel despite having no OL or quality receivers. Also, never underestimate the RIders ability to make a mind numbingly stupid financial offer to BLM. If smart heads prevail on both sides, BLM seems like a poor fit for the RIders and vice versa. I'm not seeing many smart heads in this potential conversation though.
  23. Your first comment literally applies to every party voted out of power, They all do it. They all believe they were misunderstood, and I've never seen any party of any stripe ever blame their crappy performance for their defeat. Every Liberal, NDP, or PC/CPC government that was defeated was defeated because the people thought they were crap. Good governments don't lose elections. Whether it is Rachel Notley in Alberta, Heather Stefanson in Manitoba, or whoever the last Liberal PM was....they all sucked and were defeated.
  24. I have often wondered if we would get governments that care about their choices more if we didn't back load their incentives. Pay them a very good salary while they are voted in with little golden parachute afterwards. Then you might see governments making decisions that the people can get behind because losing their jobs would hurt a lot more. Right now after 8 years, or whatever the pension requisite is, you see "tired" governments who start governing to the wants and needs of their financiers instead of to the wants and needs of the voters at large. Once they've earned their pensions some of the MLAs, MPs stop caring as much.
  25. Definitely don't want to lose Schoen, but I will always cheer for CFL players getting signed to the NFL. Without that happening our league folds especially with the state of our dollar right now.
