No misusage, just your inability to comprehend.

That's a red herring. Economic impact would not worsen if they were to be defunded and forced to be self sufficient. In fact, it would likely grow. Taxpayers can choose what they want, native rights are entrenched by treaty and protected by the constitution. It's not a choice they can make. If the CBC had the same protection and guarantee of support, I suppose I would have to begrudgingly move my objections to other things that irk me.
-
We would get the same as we are getting now. Saying otherwise is just boogeyman politics. Over the last 50 years there has been no drop in First Nation funding when the PC/CPC have held power. The Liberals have promised the moon, but never delivered on any of their promises, The best party for FNs would likely be the NDP, but they will never be in a position of power. Also, I, and most FN people deeply resent the Indian Act and feel it is an obstacle to both self governance and native prosperity. Only one party has actually listened to our leadership on that.
-
True...but it's how they should work. If a majority of people do not find value in their tax dollars funding the CBC then it should be defunded. There are things such as health care, infrastructure, OAS, etc that are absolutely not within the scope of that. Crown corporations with the exception of utilities, however, need to be weighed by merit of the dollars they receive. I quite frankly believe that the CBC does not add a billion dollars of value to Canada and that government should not be in this business anymore. You suggest taxes don't work like that and I agree to some extent. However, governments tax, and they decide where our tax dollars go. I will vote for parties that spend on what I feel is important, and will not vote for those that don't. That's how we get a say, DIRECTLY, in how taxes are spent. Taxes aren't a right of government. They do not have carte blanche to spend our tax dollars as they see fit, nor to raise them at their whim. I agree with politicians who will cut government waste. I haven't seen anyone do it yet, but I like the concept.

That makes zero sense. Are you suggesting that first nation people don't have provincial/Federal voting interest? Pretty racist man.
-
Sorry meant reserve, No assumption, and the more you comment the less of an assumption it becomes.

No silly bugger. You are trying to make science and religion black and white and that simply is a stupid take.
-
Ok...they do weaponize spirituality at the local level as well. I wouldn't expect a white man to know about that as it's reserve politics.
-
That's your opinion, and their is no assumptions made at all.
-
Science and religiion can definitely intertwine.

You are a true Liberal, PO'ed because I don't see value in wasting money, and condescending enough to believe you have the right to tell me how improper it is that I should care about my money. Newsflash: 64% of Canadians want the CBC defunded. It's going to come. First Nations absolutely use their spirituality in their inner socioppolitical sphere. It's just localized.
-
If you can't grasp that everyone has different priorities for that dollar in their pocket, well that's on you. I don't believe I get value for that dollar a month from the CBC.
-
I never said they were too biased for me. I have learned to live with their bias Once you know something is biased, it's easy to weed through that. What they are to me is a gargantuan waste of taxpayer money. I have no issue with the CBC existing, I want government to quit funding them and let them walk on their own two feet. I am not a strong proponent of crown corporations. I don't believe they are very well run for the most part.
-
The problem I see, is that I fall into all 3 categories. I believe we evolved from lesser species, I believe that this was god's plan, but I am not devout enough to be anything but unsure if pressed on it.

This is the predicament I have found myself in the last 2 elections as well except my local candidate is Niki Ashton leaving me absolutely no one to vote for, so I submitted protest votes in the last 2 elections. However, this time my vote will count as one against Trudeau's Liberals. In the grand scheme of things it won't really matter because Ashton is pretty much a lock up here, but it will make me feel better. I am not huge on the CPC, wish Charest would have won and brought the party back to centre. However, my disapproval for the Liberals is higher than my disapproval of the CPC so they will get my vote this time and I won't spoil my ballot.
-
Not going to argue there. I was hoping for Charest but got PP. That being said, I am willing to give him a chance. I KNOW what Trudeau is all about and it stinks to high heaven. 54% of Canadians want Trudeau to resign, I am hoping he reads the tea leaves and goes before the next election and then everything may change in my opinion. Unfortunately, I think he is clueless as to how unpopular he is.
-
I just believe that if the House of Commons votes on something, even if it is a non-binding vote, that it should be determined the will of the people and honored. Anything less is not representation for the people by the people.
-
https://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/han-dong-independent-mp-china-1.6788186 House of Commons did vote in favor of the NDP motion for a public inquiry. Trudeau ignored it.
-
Unfortunate you feel that way. I have known her for quite some time, and she is anything but crazy. Extremely intelligent and a pillar in the native community. Really? Your post sounds like whataboutism to me. Unfortunate you feel that way. I have known her for quite some time, and she is anything but crazy. Extremely intelligent and a pillar in the native community.

Well, he has repeatedly used the PMO to set ALL government agenda, refuses to call a public inquiry although the HofC voted to have one, has strong armed and intimidated his MPs to be complicit in his scandals. Sounds like an autocrat to me. Even his ex-ministers like Bill Morneau, and JWR, have spoken very publically about this. He is a textbook autocrat. Have you even looked up the Webster definition? You should. https://financialpost.com/diane-francis/diane-francis-trudeaus-autocratic-proclivities-a-clear-and-present-danger-to-canadian-democracy
-
Actually autocrat is exactly the word I meant to use to describe him.
-
The only fact I care about right now is that Trudeau is corrupt, is ruling like an autocrat, and needs to go. You can call that emotion if you like, I will call it fact.
-
You are accusing the CPC of starting culture wars? Good god. That has been Trudeau's play book right from the beginning. Same could be said about our provincial NDP party right now....or any opposition ever, anywhere. Platforms are never released anymore prior to election calls.
-
Did he need to spend 160k of our taxpayer money for this? Entitlement....and it's gross. Yet, board members who resigned said there were many on the board who wanted the Chinese donation investigated and resigned when this was not going to happen. Allan Rock can try blame PP all he wants, but questions into the Trudeau Foundation are absolutely warranted. It is gross and absurd to suggest otherwise.
