  1. The union has the obligation to represent their membership, they do not have the obligation to defend them. In a case like Marino's if they opt to not appeal based on what they know of the situation, they are free to not do so. When our poorest conduct adversely affects the lives and livelihoods of others, you damn right we should be judged on that. Just a ridiculous take by Dickenson. In fairness the rest of his quote goes on to say that he should not be judged forever by one action. True...however, Dickenson has completely failed to pass judgement in any way at a time it would be extremely appropriate to do so. So...yea...bad take overall Dickie. He's not asking for a chance at redemption...he's asking for current absolution...and doesn't understand at all how completely revolting his ask is.
  2. Well you are a better man than me. I can't remember the angry (drunken) rants I had yesterday.
  3. How clueless and tone deaf is Craig Dickenson? Try this one on for size, I can barely type it out because it both astounds me and makes me laugh at the Riders at the same time. "Goodness gracious, it would be rough if we all were judged on our worst moment" - Craig "if the glove don't fit you must acquit" Dickenson Might be the dumbest comment I've heard in some time. Craig you realize that literally thousands of people a day go to court and then are sentenced to jail on the basis they are being judged on their worst moment? It is how we keep the humans on this rock called earth from devolving into complete anarchy. Ted Kasczinski? Solid professor that helped educate countless young men and women....misunderstood because of this little Unabomber thing...at least according to Dickie's logic. Craig do yourself a favor and just shut up now, the more you talk the more respect you are losing.
  4. They are there to represent not defend. They are negotiators really and there to make sure everything is on the up and up with the CBA, and that it has been fairly applied. In Marino's case I could only see them filing an appeal on the racist comment suspension, or at the very least demand to see the proof. There is nothing in length, or severity, of his suspensions that lead me to believe he was treated unfairly or without precedent. That is usually the crux of a union's concern. They care that the CBA was followed, it appears it was, and they care that his punishment is not excessive given the infraction....hard to make that argument. It was widely reported last year when the playoff rosters were revealed that it was his discipline issues that kept him out. I believe even Dickenson had said as much. As for his presence in the locker room, Dickenson just stated that this week.
  5. For sure. I used to meet with union reps all the time, as one of my businesses was unionized, and how vehemently they opt to defend a member can vary greatly. They are legally obligated to represent their member so they show up, but if your case as an employer is a slam dunk...it's a slam dunk. If someone is a clear "problem child" that they have been called to 10 disciplinary meeting about, they largely just take notes and that's about it.
  6. The fly in the ointment of your perspective is two things: 1. We did not make him the highest paid DE in the league 2. He turned down a higher monetary offer from Toronto to come here instead. We didn't make him the highest paid DE in the league until after he put up his MDOP season with us. Yep...union members are union members...even the ones that are bad apples. No different than any union defending employees who abuse the system and create work. grief, and stress in the workplace for other union members. Anyone who has worked in a union environment and been stuck working with one of these types knows that unions are great....except in circumstances like this.
  7. Precisely. This isn't your average mistake either though. Coaches will be meat shields for their players 90% of the time when they play poorly or make a costly gaffe in the course of a game, but standing behind this is just incredibly stupid. MOS would not stand behind this....I guarantee that. He would be explaining that Marino had to be released because he was costing his team and organization.
  8. Pretty easy pitch to make for Mike O'Shea too.
  9. To illustrate your point It is likely the root reason why outstanding football players like Willie Jefferson left town. Marino is a complete tool, he was disliked in his own locker room last year, and they made him a healthy scratch in the playoffs because they didn't trust him not to cost them the game in penalty yardage.....but hey Micah had enough of the clown show so they were desperate for a NT....let's roll with Marino again. SMH. This is on coaching, management, and scouting. Hanging on to an average DT despite the fact he has seriously tarnished your brand is just a failure on so many levels of football operations.
  10. Yep....and that whole scrap started after several Bombers had enough of Marino taking cheap shots at them all game iirc.
  11. Dickenson couldn't go to reporters with this out of fear the CFL might place him in concussion protocol after the reporters inevitably ask him if he bumped his head on the way in. The more I hear from Dickenson, the more i am coming to the conclusion that maybe he is a big part of the problem too. He might be somebody that the league needs to get rid of too. Coaches that defend crap like this and don't take action need to be persona non grata too.
  12. I think an interesting point was brought up that suggests the league will Brandon Dyson him out of the league. I can see that happening. The Riders will pay for not doing the right thing when they had a chance because Marino will either be a penalty magnet that extends every drive, or be rendered ineffectual because of how close he is being monitored. Surely Dickenson et al must know this is coming? I can't believe how thick little DIckie can be sometimes. Mind blowing really.
  13. Ballsy is easily the worst commentator in the history of the CFL. His personal views on covid are just a nightmare and I am sure he will reveal that he is a flat earther in an upcoming game. Embarrassing. This guy is seriously the best they could find? No wonder Taylor jumped ship first chance he got. lmao
  14. Dickenson went so far as to tweet that he feels that the 4 games in excessive punishment and that he hopes Marino appeals it. Gotta love it when a HC, who has completely lost control of his dressing room's discipline, gets a golden opportunity to change that and instead opts to double down on his stupidity. Never change Dickie....never change. I love it that the RIders are asshats, because asshats don't win big games.
  15. The game doesn't allow for pure pocket passers anymore, just no time to sit in there. Unless you have an arm like Dieter Brock and can take a 9 step drop.
  16. Right on cue the Rourke fan club arrives. Bottom line is that we forced him into a ton of mistakes and made him look ordinary. Of course, beating up their OL and giving different looks is how we did it but he can expect a lot of that from opposing DCs now. Time will tell whether he figures it out. Fact of the matter is the book on him will be that he doesn't handle the heat well, teams are going to bring the heat. We can all be thankful that their offence is so vanilla that we were able to game plan and execute without much practice. Sayles needs to look in the mirror, his team's offence was run the ball and chuck it deep....we took one away and it all fell apart like a house of cards.
  17. No doubt. Based on what I saw last game that OL was overachieving the first few games though. Last year's OL probably shatters his confidence by now.
  18. Possibly even after this year. For sure. I did not mean to imply that he will not be a gooder, just that expectations based on the first 3 games are a little lofty. He really needs to be a little less loose with the ball though.
  19. It will come to him the more he plays, he's not there yet.
  20. Dude can sling the ball...no doubt about it....best long ball I've seen in many years. The game will have to slow down for him though. It will take a while. He reminds me a lot of Zylstra.
  21. No sure can't and if we signed him who knows what happens to Kenny Lawler or Dalton Schoen. I like where we are at with the choices we made.
  22. For sure. I did not mean to indicate he doesn't have a bright future. I just think opposing DCs will make life a lot rougher for him now and he will experience the inevitable growing pains.
  23. Rourke has officially been figured out. Kinda figured it would be Hall who did it, as he was the one who did it to Fajardo too. Teams will be throwing all kinds of looks at him now and he will struggle through it until he figures it out. In Rourke's defence, he is a much better ball thrower than Fajardo. We are 5 games in and riding a rash of injuries, even though Riderfans suggests we are completely healthy lol. I like where we are at, I liked it before the BC game too. People were over reacting about some non-divisional games being too close for comfort but I knew they had another gear for divisional games. All teams do to some extent, just ours is more impressive. We barely beat Ottawa or Toronto....blah blah....these are not the games that get our players juices going fully. Simple as that.
  24. The Riders will NEVER win a championship unless they play disciplined football and develop a team first, not me first, culture. So to those Rider fans thinking this isn't an issue...guess again. The Marinos you have, the egos in your locker room, and your coaches inability to address them will be your team's downfall. Keep up the great work Dickie and O'Day...we will thank you in November for helping us to a three- peat.
  25. Racist slurs. Gone. Get this clown out of the league already.
