  1. You are the one spouting off that all semi automatic rifles are restricted weapons...WHICH IS NOT TRUE AT ALL....and I didn't say that all semi autos before 1985 are legal or non restricted, I said that a semi auto centrefire rifle with a barrell length of 470mm or more is a non-restricted weapon. That is straight up fact that you continued to double down and triple down that they were restricted. Mod kits for semi auto rifles can be purchased easily to make most guns fully automatic. I did overstate being able to do any gun, but MANY popular long rifles can be turned fully automatic quite easily and pretty much all rifles and shotguns can be turned into a concealed weapon easily. They are erratic and dangerous but I don't think that matters to a criminal with that intent. I disagree that most serious hunters use bolt action, many favor it due to long range accuracy, but many hunters are taught that semi auto is a more ethical choice by many hunter safety instructors. Serious shooters for target practice won't, but many hunters do favor semi auto. I used to guide for goose, bear and deer and the mix was at least 50/50 of what people used. I can tell you with certainty that semi auto shotguns are heavily favored by serious waterfowlers, What % of gun crime constitutes mass shootings?
  2. Long gun semi autos, whether rimfire or centrefire, with a barrel length over 470mm and non-foldable stock are non-restricted firearms in Canada. Just got off the phone with the RCMP to verify. This covers the overwhelming majority of semi autos out there., Please provide a link proving otherwise if you want to continue debating this. https://cubetoronto.com/canada/what-semi-autos-are-still-legal-in-canada/ A link that confirms what the RCMP told me. If they tried to restrict or prohibit semi auto long rifles they would have to be prepared for criminalizing a huge number of law abiding hunters. Nearly everyone I know who hunts owns one. https://www.firearmsoutletcanada.com/firearms/non-restricted-rifles?cat=719 Above is a listing for non-restricted semi-autos for sale right now if they weren't already sold out.
  3. Maybe...but does that really matter in the vast majority of gun crime?
  4. You are talking out your ass. Semi automatic hunting rifles are completely legal in Canada to own and to use. Restricted, yes, but only technically. If they have a barrel length shorter than 470mm, or are on the cockamamie list Trudeau put out they are restricted. If they are a long rifle they are non restricted. It takes very little extra effort to purchase a restricted firearm. Also, at no point did I designate rim-fire or centrefire in my posts. A 22 LR semi-auto is a hunting rifle, that being said I own two centrefire semi-auto hunting rifles and will continue to do so.
  5. All guns are people killing guns. Need to change the narrative that an automatic weapon is more dangerous than a bolt action. Completely untrue.
  6. I own 5 hunting rifles/shotguns...all semi automatic. Not sure why you think there are no semi auto hunting rifles? Literally tons of them. The only non semi-autos are bolt actions and the very rare lever or pump actions. No offense, but you are sounding like someone who doesn't know much about guns. Shotguns sold today are literally almost all semi auto, nobody wants pump action or double barrell anymore and yes modifying them makes them illegal...duh...the criminals aren't really worried about that are they?
  7. Stats are great unless they reveal you are a paper tiger like DTs stats did to the RIders. After that the Rider fans didn't like them so much. Could be worse...they could have hired Mullinder.
  8. I could make any rifle manufactured before 1985 that is semi auto fully automatic in literally five minutes with a file. Anyone can...google it and you will see. Any other rifle can be done as well but is a bit trickier.
  9. It is very odd indeed. Not allowing Globals to get a better salary after their initial contract seems like this was more a way to reduce a salary in the league than it was about finding and expanding a global market.
  10. I, for one, am glad we may not have to play against him. Dude is a beast.
  11. The thing is whenever anyone talks about banning handguns and assault rifles is that with a hacksaw and 5 minutes I can turn any hunting rifle into a concealed and fully automatic firearm, and any shotgun into a concealed and extremely deadly weapon so unless you are talking about a full firearm ban you are simply making life about 5 minutes more inconvenient for criminals who wish to arm themselves. So ban handguns and assault rifles but it really isn't going to make much of a difference other than a false sense of security. There is no magic bullet to solving gun crime without taking the guns away from law abiding hunters/recreational shooters as well....and the criminals will just find another way to arm themselves on the black market. In this regard, I agree with your sentiments about it being a waste of time. A noble one...but a waste of time nonetheless unless you want to take ALL guns away and that is a surefire way to be sitting in opposition.
  12. While I don't wish for injuries to other teams, I won't feel sorry for them when they do occur. I do feel sorry for the players for sure no matter what team they play for, but not the team unless it's the Bombers. A division rival got weaker today and I am OK with that. I hate it when it is the result of injury but quite often that is the case, although incompetence could be used to describe BC since Wally left town as well. Yea...love the Stove, and hope he recovers fully.
  13. I would hope this is addressed in the next CBA.
  14. Feel bad for Stove...but not bad for the Lions. Looks like whether we had re-signed him or not we may have been having the conversation about how to replace him.
  15. Any firearm will kill a person depending on the intent of the user. I agree completely that automatic weapons and handguns should receive a banning because they serve no practical purpose. However, of equal importance is keeping hunting and recreational weapons out of the hands of criminals while allowing for their proper use as well. I agree. Handguns have no place in our society. That being said, a good 3d printer and you have yourself a hand gun. Gotta make gun related crime punishment so severe that a lot of the criminals will not risk it.
  16. We have some big issues in Thompson with our education system. RD Parker collegiate has an attend and you will graduate policy in place just to try and get kids to attend. It's a mess. It is also one of the most well funded school division in the province. Sometimes problems go beyond funding models. The money is there. The problem in Thompson is a highly transient population, students coming from reserve schools unable to keep up with curriculums, lack of public transit to schools coupled with a severe winter climate, the school division evicting students from school grounds at lunch hours, and a general malaise by the school division and teachers to do anything about attendance. Frontier school division communities are generally very low income communities. Social problems in these communities exacerbate the problem, as you well know.
  17. According to Politico his approval rating is somewhere between 37-42%. But for the sake of argument OK, I will change my comment to continues to crater. Happy? Or do you think a 40% approval rating is a good thing?
  18. Thompson has one of the worst academic records in the province. Attendance and graduation rates are far below provincial averages.
  19. Biden's approval rating is cratering. November will see one of the houses flipped and probably both. Media should have an easy peasy time over the next couple of years finding juicy leads.
  20. Demski not only produces but he gives DCs much more to guard against, and therefore, creates openings for others. Production is just one aspect of what he contributes to our offence. He would be completely wasted at WR as he is worth far more in the slot because he is much more than just a receiving threat. I am not suggesting that Woli couldn't be productive in the slot. He could be. My argument is simply that what is best for the Bombers is that he play the WR position because other receivers add more to our offence and make our offence better by being in the slot. Maybe he gets his shot in the slot this year if we move Bailey out and Saunders isn't up to snuff, but I doubt it. Therefore, I predict another 500-600 yard year for Woli, and I'm not sure why that is a bad thing.
  21. Sure he'd be more productive in the slot, but that wasn't the argument presented earlier at all. People were suggesting moving the hashmarks would make a big difference in his production and I argued it wouldn't make much of a difference because he is playing a position where touches are at a premium. You actually did directly compare him to Joe Pop and my comment, and the comments before them, had nothing to do with how he would fare in the slot. You are moving the goal posts. I stated that moving the hash marks won't get him many more touches. I stand by that. This is a slot league and when shots are taken outside the hashes they will rarely go his way because we have better options whether you like it or not. Joe Pop got his touches because he was an outstanding receiver in his own right and was just as good as any other receiver on the roster. If you are suggesting that Wolitarsky is as good as Demski/Bailey/Ellingson than I have to wonder what you are basing that belief on. Could we move him to the slot? Sure we could but who do you move out of the slot? Ellingson? Bailey? Demski? I wouldn't.
  22. I would argue that Joe Poplawski was equally as good as any of them, and played slot, so you are kind of comparing apples and oranges. I would also argue that comparing Drew Wolitarsky with Joe Pop is a big time reach. He is not even close in calibre to Joe Pop. Gerald Wilcox also thrived when given a chance...Jamie Stoddard...not so much. The difference is talent level not where the hash marks are. I like Drew Wolitarsky, but if he is taking touches away from Bailey, Ellingson, Saunders, or Demski then something has gone wrong with our offence. He is a safety net with the odd ball thrown to him, and that is where he belongs in the pecking order. Our receivers are moved around inside and out, Drew get the opportunities he makes for himself and hashmarks don't change that.
  23. I like Woli a lot but he's the 6th option in our offence no matter where we put the hashmarks. He's great at what he does and what we need him for but I don't understand the narrative that he is chronically under utilized in an offence that boasts 4 receivers that are better than him.
  24. USFL attendance opening weekend. Liam Dobson will be here by the beginning of TC. Looks like less than a thousand people. They are claiming much higher attendance but the eyeball test is what I go by. There are almost as many players as fans. You guys are way overestimating the effect of the hashmark move.
