  1. I agree with the exception of Edmonton, Harris was coming into a system that he was very comfortable with and had a year under his belt as the QB in Edmonton. Their weakness was on defence and they made some good signings. All things looked up for Edmonton on paper. I don't think anyone could have predicted how badly they would implode. There really was reason to be optimistic if you were an Esk fan in July. Just shocking how poorly it all came together. Saskatchewan was easily the most over rated prior to the season. I am unclear how the CFL pundits could knock Calgary down so much but raise Saskatchewan up when the exodus of talent from their teams was pretty much equal.
  2. Back in '05 a full 10 years before he became our coach....that's amazing....tell me the lottomax numbers for next week...lol...jk DoD, it's a slow day....
  3. Fun kind of leaves a QB eyes when you don't have enough time to even complete your drop back. lol
  4. I think offence is trending down this year for the simple reason that at least 3 teams had their OLs completely decimated between 2019 and now and we are starting to see the impact of the NFL expanded PRs scooping up a lot of really good NAT OLinemen. Take a look at BC, Ottawa, Saskatchewan and you have 3 teams that are fielding completely subpar OLs, they you have Hamilton which has had a major drop in it's OL talent. The only teams with a good OL imo are Winnipeg, Calgary, and Toronto. All other teams are either poor or inconsistent and this is what you get. Honestly, I am shocked that more teams aren't going with 3 IMP OLs.
  5. True...but ZC and BLM being done are not really the same. Zac was all about injuries....and like it or not until he finishes this year he has not had a season without significant time loss to injuries in many years. However, he did play well when he was healthy. BLM is about being as healthy as he ever is going to be again but he can't get it done anymore. His shoulder is pudding and his throws are erratic. He is still a decent QB, but he is no longer a top QB in this league.
  6. They certainly can't pay him at this current rate AND field a competitive team by the looks of it. Reilly does look like a shell of his former self though. He has taken an absolute beating in his two years in BC. However, behind a solid OL he could still be a productive QB.
  7. I agree but there were a lot of touches that Harris got simply by virtue of being the check down as well. That's not on Lapo though that relies on your QB's read of the situation.
  8. BC needs a complete 180 in the way they are playing. It has been getting progressively worse since we started them on their losing streak. They look like a team that has given up.
  9. I somewhat agree with this. I think the biggest difference between Lapo and Buck is that Buck, being a former QB, knows that sometimes you gotta let your QB trust his own eyes and take his shots. Lapo's play designs are brilliant but he is sometimes too rigid and conservative in how he allows his QBs to run them. We saw that a ton with Nichols, primary read then safety valve rinse and repeat. It was effective because we had the league's absolute best safety valve but in Ottawa he doesn't have a mule like Harris that can give him 150 yds from scrimmage a game on check downs. Buck trusts his QBs and allows Zac to improvise, Lapo had his QBs chuck the ball away at the first sign of trouble. Same kind of play books...different philosophies.
  10. My biggest knock on Lapo isn't his ability to coach. We saw what he can do at the end of last year when he has the personnel. I think he overestimates his ability to take a diamond in the rough and make it shine. He seems to favor measurables way too highly at the expense of actual football IQ. He feels he can skip steps in development and get the most out of raw players immediately. He needs a GM who will give him a club heavy on veteran talent and with guidelines on player development. He seems to miss the signals of young players beginning to lose confidence. He is an X's and O's guy and is a very good strategist but he is not a player's coach, tries to be, but ends up falling flat because he does it the wrong way by throwing players to the wolves too early. Buck runs almost the same offence as Lapo just less conservatively. His plays work, his use of progressions are excellent, he just doesn't have the total package to run a room at this point.
  11. I imagine like any HC he has input into what players the team goes after, and we even saw some of that here (Jade Etienne) but at the end of the day it is the GMs job to sign and retain talent. I can't imagine that Lapo wanted the dog's breakfast that is the Ottawa OL, or the complete lack of NAT talent on the roster. I agree that he likely was part of the Nichols conversation/decision, Tim Flanders, and the all rookie receiving corps but with or without these guys that offence was doomed behind a pitiful OL. That being said it does seem troubling that Lapo seems to be able to call his shots in many circumstances and does not appear to be a particularly good judge of talent.
  12. I agree. That team does not have the talent level to win. I don't know if Lapo is part of the problem or not but judging their talent level is very easy. It's non existent.
  13. My guess is it was to settle a division in the locker room. Poorly speculation though. Kavis Reed was the ST coordinator for the RIders in '09
  14. I totally agree with your perspective on sexual assault. However, I am willing to hear Cheveldayoff's side of the story before throwing him under the bus after actually reading his testimony to the commission. I recommend you do so as well. They met, the president of the Hawks gave a summary of the complaint but no description of the actual complaint, and then assured the matter would be investigated and handled by himself personally. What should Chevy have done differently? I am willing to give Chevy the benefit of the doubt that he was not privy to the particulars, nor the severity, of the complaint. I have been in corporate management for years and I can tell you that HR only lets you say so much when allegations are yet to be proven.
  15. You have no way of knowing what he knew. Did you read the report on the Hawks site? Quenneville says he did not know the nature of the complaint against Aldrich, it is quite possible that Chevy didn't either. HR and upper management likely insulated them from the details. Bowman only knew because he received the initial complaint.
  16. What is wrong with Biggie's stats...right near the top..and reputation..well he's got quite the reputation. He's the all star at MIKE and he's not coming out of left field doing it.
  17. Wow....I don't think you are watching the same Bighill as I am....perhaps his brother Norman? Bighill is definitely the best MIKE in the West this year. It's not just tackles with Biggie he is picking off balls 25 yards downfield, and is blitzing then chasing down guys in the flats. He is a beast this year. 2019 I would have definitely agreed with you but there is nothing over rated about Biggie this year.
  18. The game will sell out. Very rarely does a team get 6 weeks to drum up corporate and business support for a fixed date. This is very doable. Actual attendance will depend on the weather primarily but I suspect that a lot of businesses will buy and raffle tix off.
  19. Why would you take out 2011? If he owns the losses he also owns the wins. It's only fair. He got a crap team in 2010 and again this year in Ottawa. I'm not suggesting he is a great HC, far from it, but one has to admit he has walked into two HC jobs on teams that were a dumpster fire.
  20. I think we should be sprinkling in some Augustine especially in the 2nd half of games after BO has worn down the Lbers. I don't think Augustine is an every down back but 4-5 carries a game would keep the defence on it's toes.
  21. Dressing room and SMS move for sure, but not because Arbuckle is a dink though. QB controversies can be tough in a locker room and Dinwiddie likely just wanted to end it in Toronto and give MBT a vote of confidence heading down the stretch.
  22. Is there a CFL job Forde isn't interested in? That's quite a step down from the commissioner duties he wanted though. Honestly though, seems like every time a GM spot opens up the media bandies around his name as a dark horse and he promptly doesn't get a sniff. Arbuckle is getting paid big loot and just wasn't consistent enough to beat out MBT. However, he still represents a big upgrade for Edmonton.
  23. Can't wait to hear the excuses and ya buts when the Elks win one of those games with Arbuckle at QB. It will go something along the lines of it's not fair that we have to play them after they get a franchise QB.
  24. Why wait? Once you have determined a GM is crap there is no point holding onto him any longer. Coaches are different, it's tough to make a mid season change and probably won't help anything competitively but replacing your GM is something that should be done at the soonest point it becomes apparent it is necessary. Lots of groundwork can be done right now to set up the future. Wow....that's cheap. Not a QB seller market this year.
  25. Pretty sure it was Rigmaiden who declined the Als and honestly I would think McManus might get a shot before Goveia. Richie Hall ran this same blitz. sometimes with the safety, regularly when he was DC in Saskatchewan.
