We are still the best team in the league. Book it. Stove missed significant games in 2021 and we won without him, same with Harris, Lawler has been replaced effectively although maybe not fully, Gray was in waiting for a long time and will fill Desjarlais shoes, and Darby played great but so did Maston at that position. I think the depth is already there to mitigate most of our losses. We need to restock the cupboards a bit but on paper we are the best team in the league still imo.

Yes, 2 months later. We did not get our money's worth out of him last year. Hate to be crass but those are the facts. This year he should expect that we would want to know if he has another season left in him. I realize that you are a big fan of his but if you take a step back from the emotion you will see that this is a totally reasonable ask. It is a good day for them, but not a good offseason in general. They lost a lot of players.

At his age you need to know what you are getting. That's not an insult that's reality. Maybe nothing has changed but there were reports that he came to camp less than 100% last year. The Bombers likely would not want to take a chance again.

It's like anything else. Harris has high mileage so you wanna know what kind of condition the engine is in before you invest in a new set of tires.

How do you see it as more balanced? Maybe the East, but the West is kind of the same pecking order imo...with maybe Calgary surpassing the Riders and Edmonton and BC maybe coming closer but on the outside looking in.

Yea...I don't think SAM is a position a team needs to spend big money on especially teams like us that use it almost exclusively as an extra DB. I know there are tons of Stove fans in our fan base but I still maintain we will be just fine with Sayles and Wicker/Walker.

DB?...Hells no....Chris Jones looks at him and all he sees is DE. Wouldn't surprise me that there were multiple teams in on Ellingson. He was top 7 in the league last year. I imagine after the fiasco he played in last year the stability of a team like the Bombers was very appealing to him.

Not surprised they would want a 35 year old, who reportedly did not show up to camp the year before at 100%, to take a physical before considering giving him a contract. If he came cheap enough sure. However, there are reports he is considering retirement. I think Harris has priced himself out of the market.

For sure. If I were a good kicker in the CFL I would be waiting until the eve of camp to sign. NFL kicking is at an all time low right now.

BC is rolling the dice that's for sure. Boom or bust. I hope Harris does go East if he doesn't sign with us. Toronto would be a good landing spot for him. Man...they must feel snake bitten by their strategy of signing a high priced QB and want to go 180.

Moreno could be a good one....if he wasn't so undisciplined and stupid.....but he is. There is a reason they sat him out in the playoffs.

Meh....we will go out and get a kicker if/when we need to do so. Mourtado has had a full offseason to work on his craft and adjust to the CFL. I'm willing to bring him to camp and see what he's got before blowing dough on another kicker. There will be other kickers available if/when we need one.

Yea they just lost another cog in their DL as well in Makana Henry. They might be going with the CFL's first 2-5 defence at this rate. They might not have enough DL under contract to field anything more...lol. But LBers....hey they got Lbers.

Sure they can. They can't cut him during the season for injury reasons. In camp guys get cut for being injured all the time, they just have to pay for his medical is all.

Really bad move by Lawler to not secure some of that money. At 300k if he gets off to a slow start he could be toast at that salary and be in a position where he has to take scraps because no one has any money left. Or worse, an injury in camp and he gets nothing.

Your not replacing Adams or Lawler with Bailey but Bailey came a long way in 2021 and if his trajectory is still rising, he along with Ellingson getting those touches may provide the production we need.

What I like about Bailey is that he got better and better as the season went on.

It's possible he might not be, but one thing about the CFL, there are always DBs available on the cheap.
