  1. What a crock. That's total bullshit. List off the most admirable traits of the left and then try and suggest the right finds this extreme. Total crap. The last time there was violent left was the Black Panthers? SMH...how about ANTIFA or BLM just off the top of my head. Hey...i'm not proud of the alt-right. I am a middle C conservative. I just disagree with the notion that there aren't factions on the far left that are barf worthy as well.
  2. That is certainly your opinion, and I respect your right to have it. The Globe and Mail is an editorial by an award winning journalist that has been in their employ for many, many years. Again, where did I mention the left extremism on campuses to be a uniquely Canadian thing?
  3. This is not an opinion piece. Unless, of course, you don't understand the representations of the numerous studies that were referenced. But keep being you. It cites numerous studies and facts. Do you dispute the validity of them? It is compiled within the confines of an op/ed but the numbers being shown are pretty staggering. I will let you draw your own conclusions though, as is your right.
  4. https://www.aei.org/articles/are-colleges-and-universities-too-liberal-what-the-research-says-about-the-political-composition-of-campuses-and-campus-climate/ Hate speech? What hate speech are you referencing in that article? That's the problem with the left right now, they are trying to define opposing view points as hate speech and that's just garbage. What we are seeing in academia is an indoctrination of leftist principles on a massive scale in our halls of upper learning. What is problematic about it is that in order to stifle debate the far left has claimed the right to define what is politically acceptable to discuss and labelled any conversation that disagrees with them as hate speech. I don't disagree that their are true examples of hate speech that shouldn't be tolerated that emanate from the far right, what I disagree with is the shutting down of all dissenting conversation under a universal labelling of hate speech when it is not.
  5. Really? The Toronto Globe and Mail is an alt right site/blog? https://www.theglobeandmail.com/opinion/academic-extremism-comes-to-canada/article33185073/ ...and that is just in Canada. The US has become far, far more of a campus leftist powder keg.
  6. As we have seen with every attempt at Marxism/socialism as well....and at a far more expedited rate. Only took a couple decades for Marxism to devolve into communism and dictatorship in pretty much every country that has attempted it thus far.
  7. Exactly. We have seen violence emerge from the left in the cases of Antifa and BLM (just as a small microcosm of recent times) and then free speech being halted by the far left on many university campuses around North America. There is danger to our freedoms and violence on both ends of the political extreme and it really makes no difference what anyone's intentions were once it devolves to that level. WIth very small population bases. DIng ding ding....winner winner chicken dinner.
  8. I don't deny there is right wing extremism so save your sarcasm for a rainy day. However, if your argument is that right wing extremism is worse therefore left wing extremism doesn't exist then I can't begin to describe how fundamentally flawed that argument is. Why can't you just simply admit that extremism exists on both sides of the political spectrum? Are you seriously that biased?
  9. Harris was the MOP of the last CFL season and there was no one even close really. I love me some Brady, and love we have a legit contender for replacing Harris when his time is up, but to suggest that there is little drop off between him and Harris is a bit of an exaggeration. Harris is waaaaay better unless he has really dropped off. Nelson is not much of a PR. He is decent on KRs. Grant is a bonafide threat though, he makes our return game dangerous.
  10. Surely you jest. No one could be so biased as to not see that extremism exists strongly and currently on both ends of the political spectrum.
  11. Nope Trudeau is also embarrassing. I don't give two figs about who wins the election because this is a hold your nose moment when the ballot is in front of you. There isn't a good choice right now. Trudeau and his broken promises, never ending scandals, and western alienation or O'Toole and his dysfunctional party that is out of touch with the times. Take your pick but make no mistake....BOTH are bad. Anyone suggesting otherwise is drinking one party's kool-aid.
  12. No different than the left going bonkers to the extreme left as well. Polarization is happening on both ends of the political spectrum and it's not good either way. Nor should the move to the extreme left be one that is encouraged. That crazy wing is the leftovers of the Reform party. They felt their grip on control of the party was slipping and O'Toole pandered to their insecurity and beat out a far superior candidate doing so.
  13. Its all about the severity of the fracture. A partial break is painful but not necessarily debilitating and depending on location might just have needed pain management...which obviously didn't work out. I once ran a half marathon on a broken ankle. Pain meds, a good tape job, and confirmation from my doctor that it would do no further damage were all that was needed. A real tough one for the RIders, he is their only legit deep threat.
  14. SMS, roster number management, injury just isn't responding? One of those would be my guess.
  15. I disagree on your first point mainly because Trudeau has been equally as embarrassing, but agree on your second point that O'Toole is a very uninspiring choice.
  16. Sure there will be examples of that all over between all parties, however, the Liberals have not given a reason for more than a very minute amount of people to change their minds about them. They have swayed you and that's your prerogative but recent polling numbers are showing that it will be another minority. Personally I don't see much change in outcomes coming. No party has stepped up and left the fray behind. There was some worry about Bernier before the last election then he went full wingnut. I don't think there is much worry now. They will realistically not be a factor in the outcome of this election unless it comes down to a virtual tie and even then they have no realistic shot at winning any seats. None of these parties will get votes in anything other than the staunchest right ridings where the CPC candidate will still win in a landslide.
  17. Sure, one could do that or one could know that games vs. common opponents are not a good indicator because things change, motivations change, a team's psyche can change, from week to week and learn to use a football educated eyeball test instead and pick the Bombers because they are simply the better looking football team right now.
  18. You have high hopes for this WIP but realistically it will amount to a protest vote by a very small % of the population in areas that won't even move the needle.
  19. The polling atm suggest otherwise. You are dreaming if you think the Liberals have a crushing victory. The very best outcome they can hope for is a 1 or 2 seat majority. That would be a stellar outcome for them if recent polls are any indicator. Not federally. Alberta HATES the Liberals and especially a Lib party led by a Trudeau. That ain't gonna change. When Scheer beat him that all but sealed the deal on his political future in the CPC. He was too far right even for the Reform side of the party.
  20. Some crazies may vote for them but not enough. It will be a blue clean sweep in Alberta again. People who voted Conservative last time because they didn't like Trudeau aren't likely to have changed their mind after another scandal ridden two years. Those who turned away from the Liberals last time have not been given any reason to come back. Wishful thinking that Trudeau can recapture his entire fan base. If people vote Liberal it will rely on the strength of their campaign or the weakness of the CPC campaign. People who dislike Trudeau really dislike him.
  21. Well we likely end up with a Liberal minority again and another election in a year or two. Trudeau's majority is just blocked right now by the BQ imo. They should have elected Peter Mackay. He could win this thing. Just too much of the old Reform party still playing too big a role in this party.
  22. The Rider OL, and DL for that matter, have had the pleasure of playing two of the weakest teams in the trenches so far this year. Hamilton's DL is almost non existent and their OL is definitely a lot worse than 2019. BC's DL is not their strength by any stretch of the imagination, and their DL is below average. I will give Sask full credit for their victories this year but I still think their OL and DL are 2nd rate and will be exposed when they play the teams that are good in the trenches. I really don't see them being able to compete in the trenches with us, Argos, or Montreal.
  23. I couldn't give a rats ass how many receivers or DBs other teams brought in and neither should you. It is completely irrelevant. Other teams have holes to fill in their LBer, DL, OL, RB, and NAT component that we quite frankly don't have. Calgary and BC are the examples you give? They CAN'T bring in 20+ receivers because they have too many holes to fill throughout their lineup that we don't have. The fact we took a targeted approach to the positions of receiver and DB is because these are the skill positions on a football field and quite frankly where the gamebreakers are mostly found. When you have a solid crew in the trenches and LBer crew it allows you the luxury of bringing in more at the skill positions so that you have a better chance of finding a superstar in the making. None of that means the Bombers are unhappy or worried about their incumbents.
  24. This is particularly true at the skill positions. If you are not turning over every stone for the next Milt Stegall you are not going to find him. Bringing in a ton of skill every year doesn't mean you are unhappy with your roster but every team is ALWAYS looking for the next CFL superstar at every position. You would be monumentally stupid to not bring in as many top notch recruits as you can. For many years our greatest needs were receiver talent so it stands to reason we have an extensive list provided to us by the scouts. The fact that so many are available to us right now, and the fact that our DL, LBer, and OL is locked in with allstars, is why we have brought in so many. TB is overthinking it. When the top guys on your neg list, or scouting sessions agree to come North you bring them in. It should come as no surprise that this year it is receivers and DBs with 2 years of college graduates and the XFL folding.
  25. DBs and Receivers always dominate TC rosters on every CFL team. They are the two positions with the highest turnover and highest number of positions to fill in the CFL. Bringing in 20 receivers is simply a symptom of having an extended TC capacity and a unique covid protocol in place that may deplete rosters. It in no way indicates the Bombers are unhappy with any of the incumbent receivers. In a normal year TB may have a point but it is unlikely this is going to be a normal year, having extended looks at several players that are playing skill positions is necessary this year because depth is going to be paramount to success when covid protocols cause roster chaos.
