CHAMPS vs. Flappers - early thread
Yea...plus father time is a lot kinder to OL than any other position. The drop off tends to come over years, not year to year. Stan is still playing at the best in the CFL level. Even if his game drops a notch next year because of age it won't be a big pronounced drop off. If he turns into the second best OL in the league next year I can live with that.

2022 CFL Season - Non Back 2 Back Champs News
The pubs and restaurants already have a good thing going because Argos fans do go out on game day...to them...instead of the game. But you are right, the logistical nightmare of getting to and from a game, couple with ownership that does absolutely zero to market the games had attendance at an all time low. The walkable, easy drive or public transit residential areas around BMO are populated primarily by non-traditional (european, asian, african immigrants) potential fans who will go to soccer games instead. If MLSE tied soccer and football together (mixed ticket packages or something) perhaps they could build interest amongst new Canadians to learn the game and develop a fan base that would actually attend. I owned a neighborhood restaurant/lounge at one time and the population demographics changed and I had to sell it to Chinese immigrants who now have a successful dim sum place. It happens. I moved to the other end of the city, where my former demographic had all moved, and enjoyed success again with a lot of my former regulars actually showing up. lol. The Argos can't pivot like that unless they can find stadium space outside the metro but if they could it would probably help a lot.

I'm not sure. I'll ask my brother what his thoughts are on it. I did find this link though... https://3downnation.com/2021/10/08/getting-to-bmo-field-in-toronto-is-a-terrible-experience/

CHAMPS vs. Flappers - early thread
Bryant is having an all star season, maybe even most outstanding lineman caliber season. If we Wally him after this season we are idiots. I am sure that Walters is acutely aware that Stan is getting up there and will have his replacement ready to go when he is done but anyone suggesting that this is an urgent matter based solely because of his age is out to lunch. Unless Stan tells us he's hanging them up, there is NO reason to believe that he can't continue to be outstanding beyond this year and that we should be looking for his replacement urgently.

Yep..my brother lives in TO and he says that the sports bars are full for Argo games. Passionate fans of the double blue. However, everyone he asks about attending games says the same thing...too much of a pain in the ass to go.

Bombers acquire Zach Collaros
Hindsight is always 20/20. I am glad I dont really have crow to eat because I really wanted us to trade for a Collaros type after Nichols went down. However, I don't think even the most optimistic Bomber fan could have predicted just how good that trade would work out at the time. Forgot about that idiot Brock Streveler...boy he sure got a big serving of crow..lol

MOS doesn't need to have an iron fist or yell around. He built a locker room culture where players play for and are policed by each other. FIFO..its the reason for MOS success.

For sure. When that kid learns when to throw the fastball, when to put touch and pass his guys open he'll be a tough QB to stop. Yea..Osh is coming back. No one has anything better to offer him.

Back 2 Back CHAMPS at Elkimos GDT
Typical McAdoo vs Hall matchup. Yards but no TDs..EVERY time! Hall really gets in his head once they approach the red zone. Not surprised Jones's defence was ready to play too.

Week Six: Non Champ Games
Rourke needs to learn that not every pass should be a 100 mph fastball. He'll get a ton of tip ball INT until he learns that.

Ebikes are only considered ebikes if they cannot surpass a certain speed in Manitoba 32km/h and no more than a 500w motor, I believe. Mopeds can have up to a 50cc motor and a speed limit of 50 km/h. Neither require registration but an ebike that can go above 32k requires a license, as does any moped 50cc or under. Ebikes that conform to ebike standards under Manitoba law may be driven by anyone age 14 or older with no license or provincial registration necessary.

Not only that but being asked to do so on a brand new team, without any knowledge of their terminology, with zero practice and not even meeting the guys you are playing with. There is zero chance any one of those guys can seize this opportunity....can only be a recipe for looking bad.

It's time to treat gas as a utility and make it get approval for it's prices from the provinces respective public utilities boards.

Sure...some hunt for pleasure for sure. I still see nothing wrong with that so long as they are not wasting the meat. Only the ones that don't hunt enough. Hunting is a great way to get exercise and enjoy the outdoors. More lard asses should do it.

Should be a forfeit, but the Criders will likely get their game postponed. I would hope the league will make sure this "outbreak" is real as the timing is very convenient with the RIders QB being a lame duck right now.

I know he died of cancer. My point was that in that era professional athletes could live a different lifestyle and still have success compared to now. The example transcends what sport I am using to illustrate my point. There are numerous examples in every professional sport in that era, including the CFL, where players were routinely out of shape until TC, smoked, ate badly, did little to no physical training. That could never happen in any pro league now, you wouldn't make it out of day 1 training camp.

Were you there? My point is that in leagues like the CFL and even the NHL, up until the early 80's, there wasn't a ton of onus put on physical conditioning like there is now. I am sure that 30lbs overweight coming into camp is an overstatement, but it was literally nothing to see athletes like Dale Hawerchuk, Phil Housley, or Thomas Steen ducking out of the dressing room between periods to go have a smoke down the tunnel. Blink Roberts would be an example of the same in the CFL. I'm sure the hoggies still eat as many burgers and beers now as back in the 80's, but I doubt any other position group is even remotely in the same conditioning then as they are now.

I agree. Hunting is not cheap. Lb for lb you are probably breaking even buying pork, beef, chicken from the store after all is said and done. However, wild meat is excellent table fare, not full of chemicals and hormones, and is very lean and healthy. I don't hunt for fun, although I have fun hunting. It's a side benefit of doing so. Ethically, it is better to hunt imo as well, especially in areas where game populations require control. I also know a good number of people who subsistence hunt and are hunting because they can't afford meat. Generally, they are hunting and trapping smaller game, and only occasionally large game...as it is expensive to hunt large game unless you are geographically pretty close to your hunting area.
