  1. When you have a McAdoo led offence with a mentally and physically fragile QB at the helm, and a porous OL, you better have a punter that can help salvage some of the negative field position your offence is going to produce.
  2. There were other QB available to him after Buck went down. He chose to enter his final seasons with Brink and Elliott and that was a major mistake.
  3. Taman would be one of the league's top GMs right now if it weren't for the SMS. He just never was able to grasp the concept and the game passed him by.
  4. Taman provided JJ, it is revisionist history to say that Kelly was more responsible for the 2011 defence than Mack. I thought Mack was a lousy GM but he was leaps and bounds better than Kelly. That guy was a disgusting blemish on our organization.
  5. Actually, I was incorrect. Johnson was brought in by Taman in 2008. I wouldn't call Odell and Hefney the nucleus of our defence in 2011. 15% of the defensive starting roster were Kelly recruits/acquisitions. Pretty tough to make the claim he was the architect of that defence based on that.
  6. Baloney. I'm not defending Mack but Kelly only had 3 starting D players he recruited from 2009 remaining on the 2011 team. Odell, Jovon, and Hefney. The rest were all Taman holdovers and Mack recruits. Mack brought in the following D players to the 2011 team: Bryant Turner, Jason Vega, Kenny Mainor, Alex Suber, Johnny Sears, Marcellus Bowman, Clint Kent, Henoc Muamba Mack was a terrible GM because he didn't put stock in having a proven QB, didn't draft well, was cheap, and didn't value the importance of the NATs. However, it is revisionist history to suggest he was a poor scout or poor at IMP recruitment.
  7. I like Drover but I really think Hargreaves has a 1000 yard season in him.
  8. As this long offseason comes to a close, I am literally excited to see all the players. Heck. I even miss Buzz and Boomer. Bring it on!!
  9. It's not like we're in competition for players with the NFL in the first place.
  10. Legal agreements are just as binding on the NFL as anyone else.
  11. Unofficially void. Soon to be officially void. At any rate, the AAF's claim to these players rights is extremely unlikely to hold up in a court of law. The bankruptcy agents will soon just mass release these players. They have a duty to try and get something but they can't realistically prevent these players from going elsewhere without honoring their contracts.
  12. The CFL has zero obligation to honor AAF contracts legally. The AAF could not do diddly if the CFL decided to sign players under AAF contract. It is the players themselves that could potentially face litigation, not the league or it's member teams who offered the new contract. That litigation would be over in 30s if the AAF chose to pursue any player for signing elsewhere as the AAF initiated the breach of contract.
  13. Not true. The CFL and NFL have a signed legal agreement in place in regards to honoring each others contracts.
  14. JCon is correct. Even the secured creditors are unlikely to get everything back. The "assets" that are reported will be sold for pennies on the dollar as is the case with all bankruptcy sales. No one pays full value for assets from a bankruptcy claim.
  15. Just an unbelievably unfortunate turn of events for these poor players. Just completely classless. Not only are they not going to pay them their contracted amounts but they are going to prevent anyone that has a contract with them, other than the miniscule number of players signed by the NFL, from making a living by playing football. Either pay them or let them go Dundon...FFS!
  16. Mekale McKay is on our neg list I believe. He looked good in the AAF.
  17. I can't take the credit for that one. I read it in a media piece literally hours after the week 2 bail out was announced. Some dude in the States saw through the smoke really quick on that and I just regurgitated it.
  18. No, if he went to XFL he wouldn't be available for a CFL HCing gig until the 2022 season because it's a spring league. Further to that, it's not about the money with Lapo...he and his family genuinely love Winnipeg. I know that your BC sensibilities struggle with that, but it's a straight up fact.
  19. I think there were a few guys who went to the AAF knowing they would be back in time for CFL training camp.
  20. He did. The 250m was the amount he would finance if the league went 2 or 3 years and needed some help. Hard cash....he's in for about 50-60 million. When the league reaches insolvency he will get the rights to the gambling app that has a value of around 100 million and will be much higher once it is actually operational. Dundon was never buying a football league, he was buying a sports gambling app with the pesky annoyance of a football league attached to it that he would have to fold after awhile.
  21. That is my understanding as well.
  22. This league was founded on the assumption/hope that the NFL owners would help keep it afloat. Polian is a 2x loser when it comes to the business side of football.
  23. Dundon is cutting his losses long before 250 million goes up in smoke. Plain and simple and also very wise. Create a bad guy in the narrative so that his stock holders don't question how he could make such a reckless investment in the first place.
  24. Rod Pederson is so impressed by the AAF, that he thinks it would make total sense for the CFL to have the Grey Cup in Orlando in the near future. I am not making this up...it's on his blog. He also thinks that the Eskimos should hire Kavis Reed as CEO. That boy has taken leave of his senses methinks.
  25. I can imagine the Carl's drive thru today... Car pulls up to order box: Drive thru guy " Hi Welcome to Carl's may I take your order?" Customer " I'll have the $5 fatboi special" DTG " Ok sir...that also comes with two free tickets to the next AAF game" Customer " Can I get a free gravy for my fries instead of the tickets?" DTG "I'm sorry sir, that substitution is not allowed." Customer "Ok then....I was just trying to get something of actual value instead." DTG " I understand sir and don't blame you for trying" Customer " keep the tickets....it's your tip" DTG (grumbles under his breath) " Some tip I can't even give these things away."
