  1. Losing players only hurts a team if you can't replace them. I would imagine all these guys freed up some serious coin to throw at potential replacements. That being said losing them still sucks. Keeping them would have been much easier on old Wally's heart methinks.
  2. Yikes.....the BC Lions are taking a terrible beat down from the NFL this offseason. Wally better have some magic in that old silk hat.
  3. For sure...lots of time to solidify our QB position. Who knows...we could end up with Durant/Franklin/Davis yet,
  4. No, he needs another 3 games. Will never get them. Sad. He is TCF...they have zero intention of keeping his almost pensionable career past that point no matter what he does. I am hoping that brutal reality settles on him a little better than it did on Bilukidi, who left football altogether after coming to the realization that no one REALLY wanted him.
  5. Yep the reason was a complete lack of NAT talent, crap QBing, and the worst coaching to hit the CFL since Bart Andrus.
  6. Name them smart guy. I call BS.
  7. According to Taylor Reed himself, he was added to our neg list in May of 2013, and then signed by the Bombers in October of 2013 and finished the year on our PR and was not re-signed by us. You are right about Stewart, he came to us via Calgary.
  8. In principle the subsidizing of pro sport with tax dollars is not to my liking. In practical, knowing the buffoons and bloated bureaucracy would just waste this money on something to prop up their own weight makes me not care. When our governments at the different levels fix their epic mismanagement of funds then I will be more adverse to them not getting more.
  9. Probably right. However, the wildcard is Wettenhall. He does not make decisions that are par for the course.
  10. Based on your pretty jaded attitude about Mack, I will take that as a victory for my argument. A few posts ago you were suggesting the cream of his crop to be guys like Dorzon or Doneff. Now he has moved up to 'decent" recruiter.
  11. Brandon Stewart, Johnny Sears, Chris Garrett, Greg Carr, Alex Suber, TJ Harris, Kelly Butler, Andre Douglas, Moton Hopkins, Marcellus Bowman, Deon Beasley, Demond Washington, Alex Hall, Chad Simpson, Zach Anderson, JT Gilmore, Ian Wild, Taylor Reed, Jamayel Smith, Michel PontBriand, Bryant Turner, Jason Vega, Chris Matthews, Clarence Denmark, Wallace Miles All of the above were Mack recruits, the highlighted all had or are having very good careers.
  12. Not sure if it was Vega...but I seem to recall something like that. TJ Harris...I think.
  13. Not entirely true. They are given the NFL workout window, however, they still must be released by their respective teams in order to sign a contract. If the Lions wanted they could tell Bighill he has a workout window but we have changed our mind and will not release you if you are offered a contract. However, I doubt any team would bargain in such poor faith so as to do that.
  14. Won't hear about who might be in the supplemental until after the window for declaring for the draft has closed.
  15. I like Flanders but he was recruited by BC. I guess I should explain that my definition of finding someone is when they haven't played elsewhere in the league first.
  16. Maybe....but he did produce when he was on the field....and he certainly wasn't a locker room cancer like TJH. I just find it odd, because he certainly looked like he had the goods to be a star receiver. Bet he regrets the day he left the friendly confines of Lapo's offence for an extra 5k in Edmonton. Even his last game ever, in Saskatchewan, he had a great game....was their best receiver, albeit in a playoff loss.
  17. Terrence Jeffers Harris continued to be employed in the CFL and no one took a second look at Carr. I'm not sure I understand that. Must be something behind the scenes there because if I were a GM I would have taken a look at Carr at a reduced price. He never lived up to his contract in Edm/Riders....but in his defence he wasn't given much of opportunity either.
  18. NFL workouts have been a standard practice in the final year of a players contract for many years now. As a league we MUST continue to allow guys to pursue their NFL dreams. When our scouts go to Texas to recruit a fringe ex-NFLer to come to Canada, what is our selling tactic do you think? It is that we are your last chance to prove to the NFL that you can play. It's not the 40k US we offer that sells them on hanging their hat in a butthole like Regina....that's for sure.
  19. You killed your entire Mack argument when you said RBs ad receivers are the easiest positions to find talent. Walters has been able to find no talent at either. You are also forgetting some pretty decent DL talent brought into this league by Mack.
  20. Sounds serious to me. I see nothing preposterous in the suggestion. Mack can find IMP talent as well as any scout in the CFL today. He would be a great hire in that role for MTL. Don't let him evaluate NIs, run a roster, negotiate contracts, and have him stick solely to iMP recruiting and you have a heck of a hire.
  21. I would hire Mack and Moll in a heartbeat to recruit for us. Mack and Moll knew how to recruit at a few positions that's for sure.
  22. If Senior is indeed ranked top 30 OT then he will not likely get drafted but will almost definitely get some NFL looks. Every team in the NFL will look at an OT every year...at LEAST one. Pretty sure that Senior...unless there is something about him they really don't like (size/behavior) will be brought into someone's camp.
  23. Correct me if I'm wrong but should this not be the draft order for the 6 rounds, not including trades of course. 1. Toronto 2, Riders 3. Montreal 4. Hamilton 5. Edmonton 6. Winnipeg 7. BC 8. GC Loser - Calgary 9. GC Winner - Ottawa
  24. Yea...that would suck. lol
  25. CFL.ca publishes the pending FA's and to the surprise of no one except Rider fans, James Franklin is not among them. Rider Stronson's already humiliatingly plummeting credibility takes another blow.
