  1. The Riders have won 5 games out of their last 31 games. There are problems is Riderville. Big problems. Systemic problems. They are a gong show right now that is easily on par with the gong show we witnessed when Kelly was here. Just watch the mass exodus of players coming this offseason. Players are going to run for the hills away from them.
  2. The only problem I have with the Mulumba pick is in hindsight. At the time Mack chose him, he was considered an extreme longshot to get anything more than a quick cup of coffee at an NFL camp. I personally am still of the belief that had Mack been our GM that his buddy Dom Capers would have released Mulumba as a favor to Mack.
  3. Well if supplementary discipline is yet to come, I hope they get it right this time, and teach them and Jones a lesson they will not forget. I would love to see Jones suspended from CFL football operations for a couple weeks by the league. Not even allowed to call the office to see if he forgot his hemorrhoid cushion there.
  4. Ripper wants the whole league investigated? I have no problem with that so long as some credible evidence or accusation against another team is made first. This isn't and can't be turned into a league wide witch hunt because the Riders got caught with their hand in the cookie jar. An investigation like this, if done properly, will take weeks to complete and will cost a lot of money. Is it fair? Yes it's fair. When an allegation is made against one team that is what should be investigated, not a league wide witch hunt. If the Riders have some credible evidence to support that other teams are doing the same, in the course of them being investigated they can bring that forward and the league can investigate the other team or teams on the basis of their accusation. Ripper this isn't about what other teams are doing. This is about what the Riders are doing. They are the ones who have some explaining to do....and it's looking more and more like the Riders are going to go down HARD for this.
  5. Couple of thoughts on the original post and other sentiments on here. First off, all message boards are dominated by the more active users. Just stands to reason. Secondly, I agree with Noeller that TEP is in dire need of an update. To whoever said they only saw a couple active posters at TEP...???? It's the most active of the Bomber forums currently. Lastly, both the TEP and here are quality Bomber sites with many of the same members going back and forth. I see no reason for either forum, or it's members, to whip out their wieners and try to measure which one is the best. Kind of stupid. Especially when nonsense gets tossed around like no one posts at TEP but a couple of people, or everyone at MBB are bullies. Just stupid.
  6. If I had a dollar for every receiver that had a breakout game then fell off the face of the earth afterwards I would be a rich guy. Why? Because opposing defences get film on them, gameplan accordingly and shut them down. Not saying that will be the case with Collins...who knows....however, I wouldn't order his plaque in the plazoo quite yet. One of the big reasons he got let go from here after mini camp was that he had a bad case of the dropsies. That is something that may sneak back into his game as well, as it is even mentioned in his scouting report.
  7. Tell your brother that the CFL doesn't need to be a replacement for his love of the NFL, it can be a supplement to it. However, based on your post it sure sounds like your brother has got a lot of bias against the CFL so I am not sure he will ever like the game. None of the reasons listed above are a good reason to not like our game. Petty criticisms.
  8. Kory Banks begs to differ. Pretty much an identical situation.
  9. Don't worry. The Riders defensive backfield is just a mish mash of rookies and below average veterans. Ray will have a field day.
  10. Because Jones has an ego the size of New York city that's why. I think Jones is a guy who needs to work for someone who can reign him in, however, left to his own devices he becomes his own worst enemy, Much like Mike Kelly.
  11. He has been paid 85k already and no one will trade a thing of value for him and do the Riders a favor. You are stuck with a Sour Lemon.
  12. Your original offer was massive according to Lawless. Far more than any other draft pick in this class and possibly the biggest one ever, When guys like Vaillancourt were signed for far less, Jones decided his original offer was way too high and retracted it. That led to the shmozzle you guys had over the past two months. Now he signs a contract more in line with what Chungh and Mateas got last year and you are claiming victory for Jones. Still looks like egg on his face from my perspective.
  13. So....not only did they design it to look like a toilet...they designed it to look like a gas station toilet. Classy.
  14. I'm sure he did but cut them anyway, Ese is a highly paid underachiever, and Guy has not fully recovered from a career threatening injury. PR spots are agreed to before the paperwork on releases is filed with the league as they are discussed at the time of release. If Wally really wanted to hang onto one or both of these players he had options. I can certainly understand why he let Ese go. That was a colossally blown off the board pick re-inforced with an ludicrous contract. Think Pencer or Etienne. I can also understand why he let Dillon Guy go. Simply no room for him on the roster. He could develop into a good one, but he struggled in camp and needs developmental time. Unfortunately for the Lions, it seems he is unwilling to do it on the PR. Can't see how the Riders are going to roster these two but it sure does speak volumes about the state of their NAT depth. I suppose that Ese can end the Reaves petrie dish experiment though, and that Guy is probably a better prospect than McKay.
  15. Not unexpected. They literally have zero NAT depth. Wally will retaliate when the time is right. Riders will lose a good prospect or two in the future because of this. Dangerous game to play.
  16. I wish that the Esks would release Franklin so that Jones would immediately scoop him up and make him the Riders starter. Their fan base heads would explode as the loss count mounts while Franklin learns to be a starter. They are going to lose with Durant as well...but boy would they be screaming bloody murder if Durant was glued to the bench. Sadly it won't happen because Franklin is a lock at backup in Edmonton.
  17. It's unfortunate that the last game played at Taylor Field will likely be one of little consequence. I can't imagine they will be in the playoff hunt in the final week of the season.
  18. Capiciotti and Lemon are good players. Should be as productive as Chick and Hall. Hate to break it to you but Norwood won't play until October IF he ever regains form again and Newsome?? Gimme a break. The interior of your line is still substandard, your LBs are a good unit but will take time to gel with each other, and your secondary is a hot mess right now. Jones will likely have your defence playing over it's head but realistically you have and average to below average defensive lineup. I can only think of two guys off your defence I would consider an upgrade to what we have at each position. There are a couple that are roughly equal and then the rest we have much better personnel at.
  19. The list of fired GM's that were hired or promoted to a GM position because of a track record of success as a coach or scout is a long one. Having success as a coach does not automatically make one a good GM. Finding players is only one aspect of a GMs job. You must not only find them, but be able to negotiate a contract with them and retain their services. Jones is falling down big time on the latter two parts of his job description thus far. Some of that is because of the mess Taman left behind, however, he has made some spectacularly boneheaded moves this offseason thus far that are of his own doing. I don't think anyone outside of Regina could truthfully suggest that the Riders are going to need the football gods to be favorable to them, more than any team in the league. HUGE question marks at many, many positions on their team...most importantly at QB where they have hitched their wagon to a guy whose body is breaking down.
  20. Not defending the offence last night, but I can say in the two days I attended camp the offensive plays in camp and what we saw last night are completely night and day. Vast difference between what we saw in preseason and what the offence will actually look like. It concerns me that execution was so poor last night with such a simplified playbook though.
  21. After the crap show that was their first exhibition game I might have cut down to 44 and just started over in the recruitment area if I were the Riders. Watching the Riders and Lions the other night gave me real hope about a playoff spot this year. That was some crappy football by a couple of pretty crappy teams.
  22. I heard that the Riders had a similar type of photo to promote a tailgate. Unfortunately, they decided to pull the pin on it after PETA, Greenpeace, and a bunch of other animal rights felt it was inhumane to make sheep wear green jerseys, mini skirts, and lipstick, while holding up a bottle of Pilsner seductively. Would have drove the Rider fans crazy tho....pinned up in every barn from Moosomin to Melville.
  23. What if what they are reporting as great catches are actual throw behinds by the QB downfield. In that case, the ball was right on the money.
