He has been paid 85k already and no one will trade a thing of value for him and do the Riders a favor. You are stuck with a Sour Lemon. -
Around The League Regular Season Discussion

Your original offer was massive according to Lawless. Far more than any other draft pick in this class and possibly the biggest one ever, When guys like Vaillancourt were signed for far less, Jones decided his original offer was way too high and retracted it. That led to the shmozzle you guys had over the past two months. Now he signs a contract more in line with what Chungh and Mateas got last year and you are claiming victory for Jones. Still looks like egg on his face from my perspective. -
The new Rider stadium looks great but why did they ...

So....not only did they design it to look like a toilet...they designed it to look like a gas station toilet. Classy. -
I'm sure he did but cut them anyway, Ese is a highly paid underachiever, and Guy has not fully recovered from a career threatening injury. PR spots are agreed to before the paperwork on releases is filed with the league as they are discussed at the time of release. If Wally really wanted to hang onto one or both of these players he had options. I can certainly understand why he let Ese go. That was a colossally blown off the board pick re-inforced with an ludicrous contract. Think Pencer or Etienne. I can also understand why he let Dillon Guy go. Simply no room for him on the roster. He could develop into a good one, but he struggled in camp and needs developmental time. Unfortunately for the Lions, it seems he is unwilling to do it on the PR. Can't see how the Riders are going to roster these two but it sure does speak volumes about the state of their NAT depth. I suppose that Ese can end the Reaves petrie dish experiment though, and that Guy is probably a better prospect than McKay.
-
Not unexpected. They literally have zero NAT depth. Wally will retaliate when the time is right. Riders will lose a good prospect or two in the future because of this. Dangerous game to play.

I wish that the Esks would release Franklin so that Jones would immediately scoop him up and make him the Riders starter. Their fan base heads would explode as the loss count mounts while Franklin learns to be a starter. They are going to lose with Durant as well...but boy would they be screaming bloody murder if Durant was glued to the bench. Sadly it won't happen because Franklin is a lock at backup in Edmonton. -
It's unfortunate that the last game played at Taylor Field will likely be one of little consequence. I can't imagine they will be in the playoff hunt in the final week of the season.

Capiciotti and Lemon are good players. Should be as productive as Chick and Hall. Hate to break it to you but Norwood won't play until October IF he ever regains form again and Newsome?? Gimme a break. The interior of your line is still substandard, your LBs are a good unit but will take time to gel with each other, and your secondary is a hot mess right now. Jones will likely have your defence playing over it's head but realistically you have and average to below average defensive lineup. I can only think of two guys off your defence I would consider an upgrade to what we have at each position. There are a couple that are roughly equal and then the rest we have much better personnel at.

The list of fired GM's that were hired or promoted to a GM position because of a track record of success as a coach or scout is a long one. Having success as a coach does not automatically make one a good GM. Finding players is only one aspect of a GMs job. You must not only find them, but be able to negotiate a contract with them and retain their services. Jones is falling down big time on the latter two parts of his job description thus far. Some of that is because of the mess Taman left behind, however, he has made some spectacularly boneheaded moves this offseason thus far that are of his own doing. I don't think anyone outside of Regina could truthfully suggest that the Riders are going to need the football gods to be favorable to them, more than any team in the league. HUGE question marks at many, many positions on their team...most importantly at QB where they have hitched their wagon to a guy whose body is breaking down.
-
Not defending the offence last night, but I can say in the two days I attended camp the offensive plays in camp and what we saw last night are completely night and day. Vast difference between what we saw in preseason and what the offence will actually look like. It concerns me that execution was so poor last night with such a simplified playbook though.
-
After the crap show that was their first exhibition game I might have cut down to 44 and just started over in the recruitment area if I were the Riders. Watching the Riders and Lions the other night gave me real hope about a playoff spot this year. That was some crappy football by a couple of pretty crappy teams.

I heard that the Riders had a similar type of photo to promote a tailgate. Unfortunately, they decided to pull the pin on it after PETA, Greenpeace, and a bunch of other animal rights felt it was inhumane to make sheep wear green jerseys, mini skirts, and lipstick, while holding up a bottle of Pilsner seductively. Would have drove the Rider fans crazy tho....pinned up in every barn from Moosomin to Melville.
-
What if what they are reporting as great catches are actual throw behinds by the QB downfield. In that case, the ball was right on the money.
-
Both Jones and Murphy have always had reputations about them over their egos and for being hard to work with. The JSJ thing is just their character flaws emerging into their new roles. It's a Mike Kelly thing. Give an egomaniac unchecked power and most times it is crap like this that will happen. As a Bomber fan I love it. If I were a Riders fan I would be concerned. At any rate, the new regime is proving to have a very polarizing effect on their fan base. I don't foresee a long future for them unless they start winning immediately, and looking up and down their roster, I don't see that happening.
-
Pouty vs. Lemon face.....cage match!! However, it will have to happen by week 3, before Durant dislocates his pelvis or tears ligaments in his groin.
-
Did all that but still lost multi-millions of dollars. You guys have the best run franchise in the league I tell ya.

To be more fair, it would be more accurate to say we got Corney for Greaves. We had the 10th pick no matter what, and I doubt we take Corney if we didn't have the 9th pick as well. I would have been shocked if our first pick in the draft wasn't an OL. Couture would have been our selection with or without the Greaves trade imo. I believe we took Corney first simply to take some contract negotiation leverage away from Couture.

Clearly this is Chris Jones' fault for the way he negotiates contracts. I am now hearing that Walters is in talks with players disgruntled about Jones and is offering a market correction. Obviously I have no sources to quote, but don't you dare question the truthfulness of my statement or it means you hate Walters and are not a Bomber fan. I will now stick my fingers in my ears and ignore all logical alternatives to my truth.

Bravo to the Argos and the province of Ontario Liquor Commission for handing Manitoba back the right to brag about having the most archaic liquor laws in Canada. Long live the NDP. New government here that doesn't believe in over regulation now. I would hope our tailgate is coming in the near future.
-
The only rumored number I could find was on Vaillancourt. 85k with 20k incentives.
-
Well at least he didn't call her a monkey.

The irony is that at after reading at Riderfans the two guys who start each post with "Stop Trolling" the most are mfranc and Migs. lol

Lestar Jean - 6-3 211 Adarious Bowman 6-3 217 They are virtually carbon copies physically. As for hand fighting....it is an accepted practice in the NFL by both defender and receiver. Push off.....ALL receivers do it and are only occasionally flagged.

This must be a joke because Andrew would never do that.
