Thanks for pointing out the thread on RF, Mike. I hadn't visited it since Saturday. Some good stuff since then. Looks like it has come full circle and RS and Rotor are full on backpedalling now. I love it that it appears as though a couple Bomber fans are leading the charge and some of the Riderfans are even rallying around them. That's gotta hurt the old pride of RS and Rotor. When Bomber fans are being referred to as the voice of reason on RF that's priceless.

They are spinning hard for Jones. Too hard and it's starting to affect their credibility.
-
I agree. However, I wasn't talking about Jean's hands at any rate.
-
We do have an open spot. Watch his college stuff.
-
Fair enough. Stronson and Rotor are the new Nearsight and Migs.
-
That was some of the best spin I've heard. It was aardvaarkian.

There are so many issues to pick from over there. Tell us which one is making you laugh. When they were trying to suggest that Jones is doing this for the good of the league to protect it from big bad Kyle Walters?
-
It's a starting point Mike. You counter and they counter and in the end it's like 3 years for 320k....and that's reasonable.
-
I'll take Bowman on my team every day and twice on Sunday. He has his flaws but you can't argue with his production. However, I was referring to his ability to be uncoverable on some routes by a single DB.

Of course they would. There is a huge love-in right now for him from some of the internet bullies over there. I see a ton of HUGE similarities between them and I will list them so that Ripper can't say their are none: Both men hired into more than one position despite a lack of experience in them. Both men known for having big egos and being bullheaded Both men arrived on the job and immediately started getting rid of fan favorites Both men hired John Murphy to provide the talent Both men highly polarizing amongst the fan base Both men controversial in their approach to negotiating contracts Both men with record turnover of players from the previous year Both men taking over from Taman and his SMS horror show Both men saying that the mess left behind will impact operations for this year Both men highly opinionated Both men signing players known for being questionable in the dressing room

Not an outrageous starting point with bonuses. The folks at Riderfans are screaming bloody murder that a first overall draft pick might cost them 100k a year if he plays well on his initial contract. Are they totally clueless as to how cheap that is if he is a productive starter? If he signs say for 90k+20k playing bonus and doesn't win a job, they have an excellent young backup with upside for 90k per. If he starts they have a starter for 110k. I'm not sure why they are so angry at JSJ. They should be mad at Jones. He needs to get his first overall into camp and quit chasing players away because he doesn't agree with the market value they have.

McCormick is a world class flake and is inferior in accuracy to even Pederson. There isn't a member of the Regina media worth a lick of salt, They are all hacks. That's what happens when your city is small enough to throw Frisbee across....you don't get the cream of the media crop.

WR Lestar Jean is a very good prospect. Lots of similarities in style and ability ot Adarious Bowman. I have watched him since college. He will impress. He has a couple of routes that he just can't be covered on by one person.

I personally love the fact that Jones is willing to butt heads with Hardaway. Go get 'em Jonesy!! Do the league a favor and put him in place. Sure it will probably cost you the loyalty of your first overall pick, and cost you huge in trying to sign any Hardaway client in the future, but you're the man Jones...common sense and bridge building need not concern you. I really am seeing some striking similarities in the management styles of Mike Kelly and Chris Jones....and I like it.

Well I oughtta....back in the day we didn't need TVs....we would all huddle around the fire and turn on the floor model transistor radio and listen to Foster and Perc call the Canadians vs. Leafs game when the broadcast started midway through the 2nd period.....the back of our eyelids was our TV screen. Yessir...you whippersnappers and your newfangled screens...use your imagination like we did back in the day. That was our entertainment I tell ya.

They should make them do PD during the summer months to a minimum standard with no extra pay. The summer months of holidays used to be a trade off for the extra home hours worked and the volunteering done by teachers. However, since the unions have managed to kibosh a great deal of that, the teachers should be doing their PD in the summer. If it's 10 days throughout the year...then it should all be in the summer instead of sacrificing our children's education any further to appease the unions. Teachers who want to do more than 10 days in the summer could be rewarded for their effort with some sort of qualification pay upgrade.

I think you misheard him. I clearly heard him say "why did they do that?"
-
I wish the Bombers made trades as good as that.

Tell that to Brian Mulroney. He is the most reviled PM of the last few decades. Ironically, it was the left that screamed bloody murder when it was introduced on the heels of the drunken spending spree that was the Liberal government. I don't think you will find too many people who will argue the GST was a good thing, I think you will find a lot that will agree that given the circumstances there was little alternative. The bottom line is that in Canada we do not have a strong aversion to taxation. We are used to it. What we do have a strong aversion to is raising taxes, increasing spending, and ballooning the debt at an astronomical rate, all at the same time. Not too many governments survive that....and rightfully so.
-
True enough....and the vote has taken place on that. In October they were turfed and deservedly so. However, I find it amusing how people would try to use the federal CONS to defend the Manitoba NDP. At least the federal CONS spending came with tax cuts, and was nowhere even remotely close to the level of spending per taxpayer, of the Manitoba NDPs. The federal CONS got trounced for their deficits, among other things, but some people want to give the NDP a pass for spending and taxation that would make Karl Marx blush. It makes no sense. Both of these were governments that needed to be shown the door. They got big heads and stopped governing for the people. Perhaps, this will bring much needed rejuvenation to both parties involved.

I agree. Nothing could have damaged the Tory brand more than a conviction on all charges of a former high ranking member of their party. A complete exoneration only makes this all look more like it was politically motivated.
-
No kidding. History itself has proven they can run things with far more efficiency. It's why the Cons have the reputation of being better money handlers....because it's time proven.
-
Correct. Civil servants are very hard working people, that contrary to popular belief, for the most part get paid below the average industry standard for their area of expertise. The biggest difference between the civil service and private sector is not work ethic, it is the amount of hurdles each must overcome to see similar results. The Cons need to clear out the bloated bureaucracy and the civil service will produce results that Manitobans will be far happier with. It's just paper pushing up and down right now in our civil service and that creates huge inefficiency.

Kelley was used as a DB in their e-camp so I'm thinking he will not be the answer for them at receiver. More than likely if they are going to start a 3rd import it will be a rookie. Their current receiving corps looks below average imo, assuming that Chiles can play at a level near what he did before. If Chiles is not the same receiver he was before, that is one uninspiring collective of receivers.

This is page 3 of the speech Selinger tried to sell to Manitoba a couple weeks ago. Did you write it or are you just quoting it? Manitobans didn't fall for the boogeyman Tory propaganda then, and they won't now. Literally nothing of what you have said could be further from the truth imo.
