2023/2024 CFL (Non Bombers) Off Season News

Cut him some slack, he just lost his franchise MOP QB. He's an Argo fanatic and is clearly in denial. He is extending way too much benefit of the doubt to a player known to have big behavioral problems, but he is also viewing it through the lens of a fan. He will come around once the shock and awe wears off and he realizes this was a fair and just punishment. The CFL could not let it's reigning MOP act like a total creep and embarrass the league with a weak response to it. -
Cups are the only thing that matter. If a NAT needs to be sat to make that happen so be it.

It does have a ring to it doesn't it.

Goggins was great in Vice Principals too.

He was but successive injuries derailed his college/pro career. A real bad string of luck. If he is now healthy the guy is a blue chipper. He was also labelled as being a little undersized at his position in 4 down ball. He is average size among CFL Lbers tho. Man....if Moses finds the game that made him a potential top 10 NFL pick prior to his injury streak we will have ourselves a baller. However, just to temper expectations he was an early camp cut in the UFL last year. Gotta be a guy our scouts worked out and were impressed with.

2023/2024 CFL (Non Bombers) Off Season News

Soooo...the tinfoil hat is coming out. Yesterday, Nathan Rourke looks close to possibly returning to the CFL, exactly a day later the league suspends Kelly for 9 games (probably longer). Hmmmm....if it is announced that the Argos will get a cap exemption on Kelly because of this one has to wonder about some things PARTICULARLY if after the dust settles Rourke is an Argo. Not saying Kelly doesn't deserve what he got. Just that the Argos may have not kicked up much of a fuss. IF Rourke were to sign with the Argos, I would have to wonder if behind the scenes the Argos were trying to get the league to push Kelly out and give them the cap relief on him. Just a disaster as a professional. -

Well, Kelly's character flaws have come to roost just as I and many other predicted. Bluto, I know this smarts but todaso. If he is able to come back after 9 games, and that is a big IF given his history, will that give the Toronto media enough time to annoint him MOP again over more deserving players? Maybe not the consummate leader but misunderstood pro you thought he was Bluto? -

The protests won't effect anything imo. -
Yea, footwork is pretty big for any OL in pass pro. However, these scouting reports tend to focus on NFL capability not CFL. How far off his foot work is for the CFL is anyone's guess....although several teams appear to have passed on him because of it. That being said, same thing was said about Yoshi prior to him being here and when he shed a few pounds his feet drastically improved. Sadly, with aging his footwork looks to be dropping off again, but he gave us some very good seasons.

IF Covington comes back with the right attitude and work ethic, he will be a very tough guy to play against. If he is Mr. I used to be in the NFL so I am above the need to put in effort, then he will be added to the list of players that came from the NFL and flamed out. I hope it's the latter, because if it's the former the Leos DL just got scary again. Our STs will be better by default, because last year they weren't very good. Adding better players and depth will help, but really I expected out STs to be much better pre-draft. Now I am quite certain that they will be much better. -

I can't recall it ever happening before. Odd indeed. The year the Riders picked Onyemata was different than us taking a flyer on Manu. They had very poor NAT starters and depth and only had a few picks that year. It was a dumb choice by them given the circumstances. For us, having 10 draft picks, a flyer/future pick or two was almost compulsory because there is no way we can roster 10 new NATs anyway. I guess my point is that whether or not a flyer is an acceptable pick or not isn't so much what round it was done, although that's a factor, it can be a good pick or bad pick based on team need for players as well.
