A lot of very good offences have struggled mightily against that Eskimo defence. I thought that our offensive showing against them this weekend was actually one of the few times that Chris Jones has been exposed this season. BTW, when a team does a complete 360 in the 2nd half and goes from pitiful to dominating, it most definitely does change the overall picture. You saying it doesn't just confirms that you only wish to dwell on the negative and are intolerant of those not sharing your narrow scope. As for your question, it takes time to break down a defence as complex and well designed as a Chris Jones defence is. The fact we were able to do so at all makes me feel a lot better about our offence right now. Time of the season? What does that have to do with anything? It's pretty easy to spot your agenda in EVERY single one of your posts. Bombers play bad on offence in the first half....let's focus on that. Bomber's play good on offence in the 2nd half...let's focus on why it took them so long to do so. Why not give kudos to a fine offensive outing against a very good defence. I guess that wouldn't fit your agenda though.

Pretty sad part of the deal is that your not good enough brother has to play on the same team. Maybe they sign cauchy to a big deal next offseason. He is terrible. I am of the pretty strong belief that we only signed Cauchy to try and get Henoc to extend.

The Bombers were the better team this weekend but came out on the wrong side of the scoreboard due to one player's epically bad game. I normally agree that it's a team game and also that officials don't win/lose football games. This past two weeks has been very sobering for me. I have learned that these clichés should not be spoken about as if they are absolutes. One player can lose you a football game. Anyone denying that is doing so purely out of an agenda. An official can cost you the game. Saw it with my own eyes last week. I am highly critical of this team and it's direction right now. Right from the top on down. However, people trying to discount the effect of Lirim's performance and the mystery call last week are just showing complete bias. They were definitely big factors in the outcome of these games.

Yea...forgot about that one. However, the score was 10-7 for Hamilton at the point Willy went down in the first quarter. After that the team completely fell apart. Pretty tough to hang the loss on him. Edit: Just realized you were talking about the 2nd game. yep....Willy deserves his lumps along with the rest of the team on that one.
-
Yep and that's what he does. I think it was Dunnigan that said it best - he's the new Kevin Glenn. He's the 'super sub'. He's better than a backup QB but he's not the guy that can lead your team. But truth be told - it's hard to say. Drew Willy hasn't really led this team anywhere either. I said in another thread - the Bombers since their 5 - 1 start are 6 - 20. Drew Willy has started the majority of those games. Willy was absolutely terrible down the stretch last year. This year, up to his injury, he was IMO much much better - but we still were below (or at) .500 when he went down with injury, beating only Sask and B.C. IIRC. In other words.............. I don't think it's the quarterback Willy is 3-1 this season in games he started and completed. He was knocked out of a couple games early so shouldn't be considered the QB of record for those losses. He has a QB rating of 108 for this season thus far. You are right, this isn't all about the QB....there are other issues. We clearly needs a new OC, although, I was very impressed with the adjustments he made at half time against Edmonton. Another big issue is the revolving door we call an OL. If they had been able to protect Willy even a little bit, we wouldn't be having this hypothetical discussion. We would KNOW the truth because Willy would still be playing. I have absolutely zero doubt that Brohm or Marve were not going to win us a game this season. When they were in the lineup, they were the single biggest reason for our offensive inefficiency and therefore losses. However, with Nichols now in and when Willy was at the helm, one has to seriously wonder about other aspects of our offence as well. Both QBs, that we know are capable, have been asked to run some pretty questionable offensive gameplans.

I think this has been going on all season. It wasn't showing up (thankfully) in the FG stats earlier in the season, but he was missing 30 yard converts at an alarming rate even early in the year. His troubles seem to have expanded now into his FG kicking. It's definitely a mental issue.

I gotta ask you, have you seen that blowout-loss team, since the backup quarterbacking has improved? They haven't played a team with a really good offence yet Calgary and Edmonton do not have killer offences. They get just enough done to win usually. Wait until they play Ottawa. Hank has a habit of dissecting Winnipeg. You are seriously going to try and suggest that Ottawa is a better team than Calgary or Edmonton? I hope that wink just means that you are being sarcastic. I will play Ottawa any day of the week, and twice on Sunday, before Calgary or Edmonton.

Both Willy and Nichols are good pocket passers that throw a nice accurate football and are capable of making their reads. However, Willy can take an average team on his shoulders and get victories. Nichols can take an average team on his shoulders and gut out close losses. That is the difference between the two. Nichols is a very good backup...no question about it. He reminds me a lot of Kevin Glenn. On an otherwise solid team he is a guy that I would want QBing. However, the Bombers would have a much better record than they do now with Willy at the helm. I strongly believe we would have won the last two weeks handily with him at QB. He just elevates the team around him and is able to make plays when we need them. There does not appear to be a big drop off between Willy and Nichols in the stats department. but the difference between Willy and Nichols is apparent in the most important statistic of all...the win column with this team. Willy was 3-1 in games he started and finished this year. Same cannot be said for Nichols.

He's been playing this season? Haven't heard his name, and I looked at the stat sheet and just assumed we weren't dressing him.
-
While I am still upset we didn't get Muamba, I do agree that Hurl has shown significant improvement from the beginning of the season until now.
-
There is no way that releasing Cole was a cap move. Just so many things wrong with that train of thought it is laughable.
-
Every GM in the league disagrees with you. If he were a CFL calibre QB he would be on a roster or PR somewhere. He is not being blackballed because he is Canadian.
-
This post is just sad irony. You are attempting to mock people's knowledge without any clue or evidence to suggest that they are wrong. You can disagree...but this post comes off as you being proved correct, yet I don't see an iota of evidence to support your indignation. Sometimes you should just accept the fact that some people know more about the Bombers than you do and quit trying to make it a competition.

A more important criteria than sacks would be how disciplined and effective is Peach with his Gap assignments. Gap assignment is important, however, a DE has to have the ability to rush the QB. Saying that Peach's zero sacks is excusable because of gap assignment is like saying a receiver with zero catches is worth starting because he blocks well downfield. Stats don't tell the whole story on a player's abilities or worth, but they shouldn't be ignored either. Gap control...sheesh...if that's all we want out of a DE then no wonder our DL is in shambles.

Geez....Montreal really? If true then it was obviously all about the money for Henoc. If that's the case I am upset with Bomber management right now.
-
I will hate to see Henoc in another team's colors but so be it. I agree that Hurl has been improving at MLB. Although a failure by Walters imo, I am not too upset about this. As long as the Bombers are spending to the cap, I can understand the reasoning for not making Henoc a fair offer and withholding money for someone else. If this is a case of Henoc being a luxury spend so be it...so long as that same money is used on needs....and we have a lot of them. If we can't win the Muamba sweepstakes I expect Walters to be actively pursuing someone else with that money....and I mean NOW.
-
I am going to go to Greg Peach's house and steal back the incriminating photos he has of the Bomber coaches. This nonsense needs to end. Cole looked like a good one. He should still be here. I have no problem with the Bombers signing another DE, god knows, we could use a stud opposite Westerman. Why on earth they keep Peach around is the better question.
-
Can't really blame MOS for any challenge flag thrown/not thrown. Blame it on the booth if you want....but certainly not O'Shea. Anyone who has ever watched a football game from the sidelines knows that your view of the game is not the best.
-
I like what I've seen from Bastien so far.
-
They tried him at safety because they are obviously looking at seeing what he can do there. He was a DB through all of his career. Why not try him out? He had a good couple of weeks practicing there.

No End Call - CFL confirms it was an incorrect call
GCn20 replied to Floyd's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Officiating was as brutal as I've seen all year long. We got screwed. I don't think it was why we lost the game, but it sure as hell is why we didn't have a chance to win. -
There are a couple of US markets that expansion could work. The CFL's big problem with US expansion last time was that they added too many teams, too quickly, into markets that weren't for the most part very interested. The CFL gambled that small markets like Shreveport, Birmingham, and San Antonio would thrive because of the football cultures of these cities. However, what they failed to account for, or to expect, was that these deep south cities would be intensely loyal to the American game. Baltimore was a great success because the fan base accepted the CFL without bias. There are pockets in the US that actually draw strong viewership numbers for the CFL in the Northern US. Expand to a couple of those cities and the teams would likely succeed.

Henoc on his way to Hamilton & Toronto for visit
GCn20 replied to gbill2004's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
I actually prefer the extended gong show. Let him close the door on the NFL, or rather let the NFL close the door on him, and let him tour the CFL and check out all options. If at the end, we sign him it will be with no regrets for Henoc. No coulda woulda shoulda. I don't want him signing here and then regretting it because NFL interest came along. I want the Bombers to have his undivided attention afterwards. -
Hope that is legit.Ya I took it as legit the first time, but reading it again, I think the guy might be trolling. Not trolling one bit. If anyone should be accused of doing that from time to time it's you.

Well, that worked out well for Simmons & his agent. The Bombers have now prevented Simmons from feeding his family. Cue the hateful tweets a' comin'. How are the Bombers preventing him from feeding his family? He is free to sign a contract elsewhere. If he is good enough there will be takers.
