  1. He has missed big portions of the last 2 seasons to injury and was kind of average last year when he returned from one. I'm thinking teams just want more reliability and Grant's is questionable.
  2. So we left around 75k on the table....damn...that would have given us a good upgrade somewhere. Oh well, hopefully we go 99,999 over this year. I don't mind if we pay the luxury payroll tax as long as we win doing so.
  3. If they are it's because 2 days later we end up signing them.
  4. Hopefully no one....but likely someone. We'll find out I guess, although we aren't getting the heavily opinion based TC reports proclaiming the next big thing anymore.
  5. Don't succumb to the pork snobs. A nicely grilled pork butt can be a great meal.
  6. Willie Jefferson says your are wrong about pot use in the CFL. It was second hand smoke....honest....lmao. Ronnie Reagan had to make sure he had some reason for the "war on drugs".
  7. Infinitely better that Ball. INFINITELY. Mind you that might be the lowest bar of all radio broadcasting history.
  8. Bringing in guys mid-season, after not really scouting that position much because we had Grant, is likely what led to lacklustre results trying to replace him in season. IF, and it's still a big IF, the Bombers have made the decision to move on from Grant I would expect that our scouting department was looking a heckuva lot harder at finding a great returner this offseason than when we had the comfort of knowing we had Grant. That being said, if a guy like Lucky or another vet returner wants to come here on the cheap and compete in camp that would be a best case scenario.
  9. I don't think salary is the issue at play with Grant. Sadly, reliability has been a big time issue over the past couple years and it may be possible that we have moved on because of that. I hope I am wrong. Yes, there are a crap load. Not sure what Lucky's salary expectations are but if he wants to come in at a salary similar to what Grant was getting we would probably consider it.
  10. I think it is sewn into the fabric.
  11. There is an entire thread about it on your forum. Hyperbole? Hardly. Making the case that Rider fans are uneducated about football does not absolve the absurdity of the thread, just reinforces my point really and is telling us something we already knew. Do I enjoy, and revel, in dumb **** Rider fans say? Yep. This is a BOMBERS forum after all. I have seen a crap load of the same at Riderfans directed at Bomber fans. Kinda goes with the territory.
  12. Yep meant Claypool lol. Tell us how you really feel about Claypool..lol.
  13. Meanwhile in Rider land they think they may have a real chance at signing Claybrooks..Can't make this stuff up.
  14. 2002 Bombers Thunder and Lightning tandem - Sellers and Blink 2009 Bombers Thunder and Lightning tandem - Joe Smith and Fast Freddy Reid 2024 Bombers Thunder and Lightning tandem - Chris Streveler and Zac Collaros Hope this years works out as well as the ones in the past.
  15. Riders still have those type of players even now.
  16. Don't get me wrong...if we had to blow our nut on a player this offseason I am glad it was BO.
  17. And run...he could run.,,,and yes it was damned glorious. He came into the CFL as a LBer.
  18. It's quite possible at that time he was still looking for a better gig and turned the Stamps down. QB coach in the CFL isn't the most lucrative gig. After the bowl games and end of the college season, there are a ton of guys getting turfed and a ton of potential jobs opening up. If I'm a NCAA coach I'm waiting to see what comes up too. Then end of March comes around and there really isn't a fit the CFL starts looking a whole lot better. Baldwin is a much better fit for the CFL than he is for 95% of NCAA football programs. His offence is very similar to a CFL offence and that is not the case down south too much. Whatever the reason he wasn't finding work down south is 100% irrelevant to the CFL though. His starting college QBs during his tenure down South: Bo Levi, Mike Reilly, Matt Nichols, and Vernon Adams. He is a guy that develops CFL QBs very, very well and that's what he is now hired to do.
  19. There was a pretty coherent argument made that the Bombers shouldn't have been that deep on BO either. Maybe we are undervaluing him here or are missing some key information in the big picture? Count me as one that didn't want the Bombers to pay what we paid for a RB. However, I, also, agree with you premise that he most definitely wasn't or shouldn't have been a priority type offer for Hamilton with the holes they needed filling. At any rate, we and a couple other teams have given/offered unicorn RB numbers to him so let's hope he earns it.
  20. As a QB coach this is a really good get. His resume of grooming CFL QBs speaks for itself. Stealng? No definitely not stealing, he was unemployed. However, getting a guy that can groom QBs that can play at a high level in the CFL? Baldwin would be at or near the top of the list of every CFL team. So definitely a sneaky good signing by them.
  21. Not a specific old Bomber game related question but this seems the most appropriate thread to ask this following question. I was over on Facebook, and there was a posting about how the Bombers coaches and players had a meeting and decided to turf Sean Salisbury during the 1989 season. I don't remember this, or perhaps I have chosen to forget it? Lee Saltz did take over and play the final few games and playoffs despite Salisbury leading the East in passing at the time. I just thought we released him to go to the NFL? Does anyone recall this?
  22. Unemployment will definitely get a guy looking for work.
  23. Not sure but maybe just the need for a new challenge?
  24. If he can get Maier going then it will be a real feather in his cap.
