  1. Love it. Sorry Marve fan boys, but he sucks.
  2. Arash saying we traded for Nichols.
  3. Glenn is done for the season so I hope we didn't trade for him. Nichols? Maybe...Ray? That would be sweet. Expensive...but sweet.
  4. great news... lots of money... but I'm not sure how accurate Lawless's financial quotes usually are... Sounds about right to me. 150k would put him on par with what Hall is making with the Riders and would still be 50k a year cheaper than John Chick.
  5. Don't think it will be a huge factor, but it can't hurt.
  6. Absolutely, We may not be a contender but there is no reason to believe that we any worse than Sask or BC.
  7. I agree. We have some HUGE glaring weaknesses, but they are fixable. Except QB...come back soon Drew.
  8. What I saw vs. Calgary was an offence that was hopelessly overmatched. Marve was terrible on the few occasions he was given time, and the OL was an abomination in both run block and pass protection. Our offensive problems were definitely personnel related. When a QB can't throw accurately, or continually throws into double coverage, that is not a coaching problem. That is a player problem. When an offensive line can't get off the ball to secure their blocks, that is a personnel problem. If we are going to discuss any of our coaches getting hopelessly outcoached last game, it was Richie Hall. Play after play, the Stamps were able to isolate Rogers and Fuller in man coverage and we were burnt accordingly. I get that it's easier as fans to blame the coach than to face the stark reality that the lineup we sent out onto the field suck. I, also, get that our coaches haven't been a masterpiece either and have made some poor decisions. However, anyone thinking that our blow out losses against Calgary etc were entirely because of our scheme or poor coaching is huffing paint. We need personnel upgrades before we can even think about being competitive with the upper echelon teams of this league.
  9. If this was posted before my apologies, first I've seen of it. It is interesting though. Dispels some of the myths we perpetuate around here though. I found it interesting that most of the real good prospects that CFL teams approach out of college or the NFL nearly always choose to wait a year before considering the CFL. Found it interesting that the scouts do some of the contract negotiating. I was also flabbergasted to learn that under Mack, Moll was our only US scout. Really liked how he describes how important the measurable are and how agents should present a potential client to scout in a certain way. Sure dispels the myth that every team knows about every player and how important the combines are and how cheesy the open camps are regarded as.
  10. Found this video on Youtube. It is our former scout Ken Moll giving a lecture to sports agents about what scouts look for in players, and how they do recruitment in the CFL/NFL. Some pretty interesting stuff in this video. I recommend anyone interested in what scouts do and what they look for to give it a listen. Takes a couple pretty good jabs at his former CFL employer, and talks a bit about some of the players he recruited for us. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JgyQUnJMXes
  11. I think that Simmons is being over rated by many on this forum. Last year in Orrawa he was the best of a very bad lot, but it's pretty obvious that on a team with talent he is depth. Hopefully, he can play himself onto the 44 man and help us down the stretch, but people shouldn't be crying foul because he hasn't done so in his first week.
  12. Anyway, back to the discussion. I think we should sit all our current starters on Saturday. I believe some of them may be banged up from playing football. It would be poor coaching to not give them all a break. (sarcastica) What a poorly conceived and thought out train of thought. Rest our healthy franchise QB that we are paying 20k a game for, even though he has been medically cleared and played like an allstar that game. Clearly a bad coaching decision to...you know..play him and win the game. ....and then wonder in amazement when this train of thought is mocked by nearly everyone except the Rider fans. Same shtick as TEP. When everyone in the known universe thinks you are wrong, unless you are Christopher Columbus....you are probably wrong.
  13. I only call people stupid if they post stupid things and don't provide a proper argument to back it up. You on the other hand seem to be of the opinion that every opinion is valid because everyone is allowed their opinions. That's a quaint notion that I wholeheartedly reject. There are plenty of opinions out there that are devoid or merit and are indeed stupid. You don't like being called out on dumb ideas then maybe apply some critical thinking skills and come up with some opinions that aren't stupid. Or just take your ball and go home, that's what people who can't apply critical thinking tend to do. For what it's worth, you're way off the mark if you think people standing their ground flummox me, I spend all my time here trying to get people to stand their ground so I can have a proper argument. You're not interested in that though, you just want your lunatic ideas given credit but no one gives stupid ideas credit because they're stupid. In summary get over yourself and realize that people are picking apart your dumb ideas because they're dumb not because they're different. You're not as smart as you think you are. Yah. The next thing you know he'll get pissy with the regime at this site, complain that they are overbearing and controlling, and pack up and go start a new Bomber fan site. Ouch....the Rider fan is growing claws...meow!!
  14. Yea..no question about it. I think the same could be said for most of the teams in the CFL this year. The only team that's looking really good this year is Hamilton, and the only team that is looking really bad is the Riders.
  15. Unlike the Riders in their close losses, we actually looked like the better team in both these games on offence and defence. Both games, STs let us down big time.
  16. No kidding. SMH. The logic shown by some in this thread is disturbing. The fact that the Riders lost some close games makes them better than us, but they fail to recollect that we have 3 games this year that we lost in the final minute of the game. How you can give an 0-8 team more credit for close losses than a 3-5 team is beyond me.
  17. Yep - great point. As terrible (and I mean the worst in the league) the bombers have been at recruiting quarterbacks, up until recently it has been the opposite at Running back. One position, until recently, I never worried about. We always seemed to find a stud. Fred Reid had looked like the latest one but for whatever reason (most likely an injury) lost his consistency. Paris Cotton is NOT the answer here, for every good game he has, he has four very non-descript games. Right now it's Marshall or bust and I thought slowly he was taking over the #1 spot anyway. That being said, he's still not even close to some 'Canadian' backs in this league like Harris. Cornish, or Messam. I agree with the RB carousel - lets keep bringing them in until we find someone who can be consistent. I guess you didn't think about the fact that the RB need better blocking and schemes. That's partially true, but I have seen way too many promising runs end on an arm tackle, for my liking, over that timespan as well.
  18. We haven't had a great running back since early in Fred Reid's time here. In a way I don't mind the RB carousel going around until we find one.
  19. I was quite shocked this morning. Went over to read on Riderfans and was shocked to see some of their more sensible forum members now predicting a 3 game win streak starting this week. Saying it's the easiest part of their schedule? Not sure what these guys are thinking. Denial is one thing, but even when their team is absolute crap these guys still think we are a free spot on the Bingo card. Can't wait for the LDC and BB sweep. Be even sweeter when Ottawa beats them at home too.
  20. I got a guy that worked here that keeps saying the CFL is boring and that it would be better if we were a feeder league for the NFL with the same rules rather then the CFL. He's adamant that more people would watch then now. And he complains because of the rouge (which I think is stupid as well but whatever), that they can't call a fair catch along with the whole 5 yards rule, it's too slow, and all the scoring happens in the last 3 minutes. And no matter what I tell him CFL just sucks to him. I'm like, dude, it's football, I love all football. Not sure why Canadians are so thick headed when it comes to sports. Sounds like your friend doesn't know much about football and is just being an elitist for whatever reason.
  21. I think it is remote. I think Bilukidi will definitely be cut and will remain unsigned, but will wait to see if any other NFL interest develops.
  22. I'm sure a big chunk of those fans are driving in from Calgary for the game. Considering it's only half Stampeder fans at McMahon for games against the Riders, not even a chance. Obviously some, but not many. That's total bullshit. That's why I hate & totally disrespect the Rider fanbase when they post total garbage like this. The Stamps have 24,000 season tickets in a 35.000 seat stadium. So how do nearly 20,000 Rider fans get in? Most of the fans there cheering for the Riders are drunken douchebags. Give me a frigging break. Ok sorry, that was an exaggeration, but they still fill it up a decent bit. Anyhow, there aren't going to be that many Stamps fans in Regina. There will obviously be a few as always, but not "a big chunk". Yeah but when you go to a game in Calgary vs. the Bombers there's a ton of Bomber fans in there too, when the Lions are in town there's a ton of Lions fans. That's just what happens when you are in a city with a large population that has moved there from out of province. The Riders aren't some unique fanbase, especially when it comes to Calgary. Exactly. Through many decades the youth of Saskatchewan fled their family farms to other provinces to gain employment in other provinces. Saskatchewan teetered on the brink of insolvency for the better part of 50 years prior to the last decade. With no other major economy other than farming and no prospect of employment other than driving tractor for minimum wage, Saskatchewanites spread out across the country at a rate only rivaled by Newfoundland. Once in their new homes, they developed a kind of survivor's guilt for leaving and the only sports team from "back home" they could rally their survival guilt around was the Riders. The success of the Rider brand across Canada has more to do with that than anything else. Not wanting to be seen as turncoats by the province that raised them but they ultimately abandoned, they don green and go to games in the hopes that somehow it will rectify the damage that was done by the mass exodus they were a part of. Sad really. In short the Rider's success around the league speaks more to the former sad state of affairs of their home province than it actually does about their football team. Same could probably be said about the high number of Bomber fans that attend games in Alberta. Although, there are far fewer of us, the reasons for attending are about trying to keep allegiances with the provinces left behind. This post is sadly very true in some ways. I left Sask right out of high school for the Alberta Oilfields. Is what it is. I also returned home at the first opportunity and have lived here many years. I don't blame anyone for moving or doing what they have to do to support their families, That's got ****-all to do with what team they cheer for. FYI I have 3 Manitoba boys on my crew here and they still like the Bombers, I wouldn't expect them to turn on the team they grew up cheering for just because they moved here. I wouldn't expect anyone to ever turncoat on their home province or childhood team....no matter where they lived. Just saying that the high number of RIder fans at visiting stadiums is more a function of Saskatchewan being by far and away the CFL province with the biggest exodus of fans to rival provinces than it is a function of them being "Canada's Team". That is, of course, unless the term Canada's team refers to Saskatchewan ex-pats. If that is the case then Newfoundland should get a CFL club. They would instantly own the title of "Canada's team".
  23. Top 3 Worst Starters on Our Team: (if everyone were healthy) 1. Greg Peach - guy should be a platoon player at best 2. JFG - just not CFL quality starter 3. Neufeld - had a strong first game and has struggled mightily since. Breaking down the film he is being exposed to the inside rush. Would be far better suited at RG. Top 3 Most Under rated: 1. Picard - I know his snaps are poor but I have looked at a lot of the film and our Guards are making him look really bad. I used to coach OL and that would be my assessment. Our Guards have rarely been able to block one on one with consistency. Moreso Greaves and Neufeld. Chungh can block well but struggles against stunts and blitzes...an experience thing. 2. Bucknor - Teams are throwing at him. They have to throw at someone. He may be the weak link of our secondary but that doesn't necessarily make him weak. 3. Chris Randle - Lots of people saying he is a substandard SAM. I don't for the life of me know why. Thought he has done exactly everything we could hope for at SAM for us. Lot's of people not understanding what a SAM LBer's job is I think.
  24. Size definitely matters at MLBer. I mean you can go a bit undersized like we did with Wild last year....but Brackenridge? Good grief....he's going to get himself hurt playing in the box. Teams will run at will over top of him.
