  1. Let's call a spade a spade. Yantz wouldn't have even been in camp if he wasn't a non-counter. He got a chance to attend a CFL TC and had to have known he was an extreme longshot. He would have had to have been exceptional. He was a camp arm until he proved otherwise. He didn't prove otherwise. Shame on the Bombers for concentrating on the QBs that actually had a legit shot at making the team.
  2. None of them are ridiculous and will be costly. I agree that there is likely reasons behind all of these non moves. However, at the end of the day they didn't get done. Just my perspective. Yes, I blame Mack for not re-signing Labatte as well. No one said it was easy to be a GM in the CFL.
  3. Top 3 1. Westerman 2 Firing Etch 3 Picard Worst 3 1. Releasing Vega and keeping Peach 2. Failure to re-sign Hajrallahu to extension 3. Passing on or failing to sign Rene Curran
  4. It's a story because it sounds like Walters made promises that weren't kept. No not necessarily true. Walters made promises, that much I believe. Whether they were kept or not is in the eye of the beholder. The TC days I attended, it looked to me that Yantz was getting reps in the offence. I don't doubt that Yantz felt he never got a chance. That does not mean he didn't get one though. One of the hardest things for any football player to come to grips with is finding out that they are not good enough. Imo, just because Yantz says he didn't get a fair chance doesn't make it so. Sounds more like a player lashing out after he finds out that his football dream is over.
  5. From a purely roster building for on-field talent perspective Lin-J may not be the absolute best player we could have acquired. He is a capable player though. From a team building/locker room perspective is where he adds a ton of value. Everything I have read about him says he is a dressing room "glue guy" that works hard, and is very well liked in the dressing rooms he has played in. Bringing in a capable veteran that will aid in the leadership department may not show up on the stat sheet, but it is exactly the type of acquisitions that can greatly aid a young team get confidence as it learns to win. The lack of these type of roster moves, is what cost Mack his job imo. I am glad that it appears Walters gets that building a team is more than just a straight acquisition of talent. You need the intangibles as well. Lin-J may not have much gas in the tank as a player, but he brings intangibles to a young team.
  6. I must say that I am not totally convinced that Durant is 100%. His throws were soft and wobbly in the first exhibition game and that was on short to short-intermediate routes. Last year he was a dud, even before the injury. If they hadn't had a running game their offence would have been non-existent all year with both Durant and Sunseri. Now they have a pass happy coordinator. I am going to go out on a limb and say that Durant has his worst QB rating of his career this year and a win/loss record that reflects that.
  7. With his salary, probably cut. Sounds pretty stupid doesn't it? Yet I've heard the same argument made about Moore.
  8. There is a heck of a lot more that goes into the decision making on broadcasting a game than having an available channel to do so. I agree, they should show the game. Does the NBA finals being over make much of a difference to TSN? Probably not a heck of a lot.
  9. Actually, I welcome it....so long as we are winning. I don't care if O'Shea regurgitates recycled quotes from Knute Rockne every time he opens his mouth. I don't feel the need to know if a Bomber player has athlete's foot in his daily pressers. I want my coach to keep a lid on things and just show me his plan on game day when everyone else will also have the opportunity to see it, and judge it at that time.
  10. What garbage. They could have made this announcement at least 17 hours ago. You are willing to let them off the hook that easily? This was something they should have let us know about in the pre-training camp press conference and should have been published in a pre-training camp brochure along with the names of the probable first cuts in camp. This week to week indecisiveness just gets my blood boiling. Why the secrecy? It's like they're still evaluating things during TC instead of having their minds made up already.
  11. I think he was being specific to on field performance, as opposed to the total package. We all know that the sum of their parts has equalled suckage for a long time now.
  12. Totally agree. I thought both Allen and Brown played among the best at their respective positions and their respective positions had openings. Tuinei was in tough fighting with a lot of quality guys for one position.
  13. Cotton is still number one. It's his job to lose, and despite his performance last night someone needed to step up and take the job away, Cotton gave them all an opportunity to step up and give the coaches something to think about. None of them did. Anderson likely cost Randle his job though.
  14. ....or maybe he is just injured more than the Bomber care to let on right now. Which seems more likely to you? Him being injured or him signing a contract then immediately changing his mind and requesting a trade.
  15. Both were very solid. Quite impressive really.
  16. Me neither. Hopefully they put a link up to it.
  17. It could be argued that game play is the greatest indicator for assessing a player. Therefore, you gotta play the new guys. You have two opportunities each offseason to evaluate players, and to evaluate how they fit within your system. Leaving them at home makes little sense. There are obviously a high number of positions on the Depth Chart that are still in play, therefore, the vets stay home. Pretty simple really. If we were the Stampeders, we might have the luxury of a veteran laden pre-season roster in game one. We are not. We need to swing the axe next week, leave the guys who we know are going to be here for the 2nd game at home and dress the rest and take the best of that bunch into game 2.
  18. The point is that when he looked good the book wasn't out on Printers yet and teams didn't play to just keep him in the pocket. Once he came back and people knew what he was about they took away his legs and he couldn't beat them with his arm. We simply don't know if Marve can do that yet. Being able to scramble and run is a good asset for a qb to have, but they still need to be able to pass from the pocket first and foremost. Agree to disagree. There's more than one way to be a good QB. If you're a Ricky Ray type, that's from the pocket. If you're a Flutie or Reilly type then it's from moving the pocket around and using your legs when needed. Printers had a great year, went to the NFL, wasn't the same when he came back. He turned out to be a one trick pony. His biggest problem wasn't throwing from the pocket, it was that he wasn't the brightest bulb in the box and his team wouldn't go the extra mile for him. Marve's had less than 60 minutes of playing time behind a horrid O line. Of course we don't know if he can pass from the pocket yet. Being a pocket passer is a good asset to have, but it's not the be all and end all of playing QB. You still fail to grasp the point. Flutie and Reilly could and also can pass from the pocket so keeping them there really doesn't limit how effective they can be. That's what makes them so dangerous, they can hurt you any which way you like. Same deal with Burris or Durant currently. Can you name a qb that was effective who wasn't able to pass from the pocket but could run? They usually have a good stretch and then get figured out. There is more than one way to be a qb, but a qb that can't pass from the spot where qbs spend most of their time is a guy that won't be any good. What in the less than a game of playing time behind a horrid O line makes you think that Marve's one dimensional and can't throw from the pocket? I think Marve will be more than capable of passing from the pocket. However, after watching both his performances and reviewing them a couple nights ago, it became pretty clear that he missed reads and had happy feet at times. When a QB never sets his feet on drop back, it is a pretty clear indicator he is not comfortable with one of two things....contact or his knowledge of the offence. Go back watch the film. It's there. The proof is in the pudding. No one is criticizing him for the play breakdowns where it was on the offensive line. However, one thing after reviewing his performances became abundantly clear, he went into scramble mode at times he was well protected in the pocket. I have no doubt that IF he can learn to set his feet, feel comfortable in the pocket, and make his reads that he could be a very good QB in this league. I, also, have no doubt that if he doesn't he will never have success. Scramble ability is a great asset for a QB to have but alone a QB can't have success. This isn't sandlot football. The more broken plays that happen, the more chance for turnover and the less chance for success. Might as well throw the playbook out the window if a QB is going to go sandlot every 2nd play.
  19. Yet Banks partner in all of this is some guy I've never heard of that had a cup of coffee in the CFL. Calls himself "the flea" or "the tick" or something like that. Banks is trying to make this a class action for players all the way back to the 60's. The 60's? They were only a couple years off from leather helmets for gods sake. I, also, find it pretty hard to fathom that Korey Banks...a player that only retired last year....suddenly found out that multiple concussion could have serious consequences. Either he was living under a rock, or missed the media blitz in Canada about concussions since Eric Lindros took his ball and went home. He would have to be the stupidest, or most ignorant guy on the planet to not know any of this stuff. Conspiracy to hide it from him? What....does he need it tattooed on his damn forehead? Since I was 4 years old, long before concussion protocol came around, I knew...and everyone I know knew that repeated blows to the head would eventually turn your brain to mush. End of rant. Sorry guys for the multiple posts but I can't stand the way everyone wants to run for lawyers and blame someone else for the choices they made in life.

  21. There is no judge in the world that will fold a league on a class action lawsuit. Asking for 200 million is more than the worth of all CFL teams combined. Banks and his buddy are idiots. Maybe there is a kernel of legitimacy to their claims but the dollar amount is completely ridiculous. Where does Kory Banks think the CFL is going to get 200m. IDIOT. I hope he never graces us with his presence on this side of the border again. Just an ass clown.
  22. Or at the very least wants to explore his options before re-upping. I think we will get a deal done with him. There just is no urgency to it right now.
  23. Is Tuinei falling down the depth chart? I don't know about falling down, more like getting pushed down.
  24. Can't take them unless we release them. By the time our season ends this guy will have viewed another 1000 guys. Unless, we have someone who is going to be a pending FA that they absolutely love, I'm not sure much will come from his visit. It will do more good for the Bombers than it will do harm. I admit I don't really know the finer points of a situation like this, but I'm curious as to why you think it will do good for the Bombers? Your post has made me calm down though so I have to thank you for that. Americans often don't want to give up on their NFL dream, and view signing in the CFL as the end of it. If Walters can say we had scouts from 30 of the 32 NFL teams at practises last year, then point to a guy like Ian Wild or Enoch Muamba, that can be all it takes for a reluctant neg-lister to look at the Bombers as his path to the NFL rather than away from it. GET OUT OF MY HEAD!! HOW ARE YOU DOING THIS. LOL
  25. Not going to get into the whole ratio and roster management angle of this. I will just say this. Wally can be a pretty classless guy when it comes to parting ways with veteran multi-year Lions.
