  1. Are any of those sources people who play football and have been coached by Miles? Exactly. I have spoken to one of his former players and he did not have a bad word to say about Miles.
  2. Pretty much a bang on assessment.
  3. 175k for Glenn would be money well spent.
  4. Is it wrong that I actually have more faith in Marve in November then Glenn simply due to watching Glenn all these years? Lol Yes it's wrong and unrealistic. You asked. Show us proof that Glenn IS reliable in November. As soon as he sees his breath, he tanks. Never said he is reliable in November. However, he has on two occasions gotten his team into the Grey Cup. It's not a sterling resume but he does have playoff experience and has won playoff games. As a backup that's not a terrible thing.
  5. If this were 2011-12 I would agree with you. 2015 KG not so much. All I'm saying is a year ago a lot of guys were happy to pick up Burris LOL. KG at the right price (150-175k) wouldn't be so bad. Do you really think marve or portis is going to perform better than kg? Desperate times call for desperate measures. I was more than happy to have Glenn as a safety net last year but I would rather see Marve and Portis get the future reps if and when Willy gets injured, not Glenn. I would prefer that Marve and Portis get the reps as well....if they've earned them. Beat Glenn out. If he's as useless and awful as people here are suggesting it shouldn't be that hard to do.

  7. Exactly. If we're playing our back up in November it's a chip and a chair chance no matter who we put out there. Glenn gives us slightly better odds than Marve or Brohm would. That's the bottom line. No backup we are going to sign is not going to be a drop off. Signing the player that creates the least drop off and maximizes your odds of winning is kinda RosterBuilding 101.
  8. I could care less about Kevin Glenn either way, but if the price is right I can think of a lot dumber personnel moves than that. Bomber fans have had a blind hate on for him since he was here last. I can't think of a more viable short term insurance policy at QB. Not sure why anyone would object to having a veteran backup if we have the cash to do so.
  9. Doesn't matter. Once he comes to our city, it's magical hold will wrap around him and he will never leave to play elsewhere. Next contract we will probably get a discount out of sheer loyalty. Unless, of course, he does leave which means he is a player of suspect character and wasn't wanted back anyway. Oops...sorry for that...I thought I was posting at Riderfans.
  10. Glad we didn't get him. Last night, after initially being in favor of us pursuing, I thought about it for awhile and realized he really didn't have a very good year last year.
  11. Meh, I'd say moving from Foley and Kilgore (or whoever they had at MLB) to Emry and Hall is a big upgrade. Other than that, they've retained depth similar to what we've brought in because we didn't have it in the first place. Let's see how things keep unfolding, though. I would agree if they were getting the 2012 Emry. His play has seen a noticeable drop off since then. Last year, just my opinion, I thought he was among the weakest MLBers in the league. He gave Kuale a run for his money. Hall is a good DE that should help IF he doesn't show up looking like Hickman did last year. I somehow doubt it but you never know. At any rate, I see this as a wash. I don't think that Hall will be as good as Foley was last year, and I don't think Emry provides more than a small upgrade at MLB for the Riders if he plays like last year. I guess we will agree to disagree but I see it as at best a small upgrade for the Riders. Certainly not enough to offset their other losses they have sustained this offseason. See above. Bad job editing.
  12. If Glenn comes cheap he's a good insurance policy.
  13. Well we knew the Riders were going to sign players at one point because they can't scout and are quite a bit short of a full roster. Just glad most of the signing are there own fringe players and other teams castoffs. Glad they didn't use the money to improve their club. Hall (if he can re-adapt to the CFL game) replaces Foley so that's a wash, and Emry was about as good as Kilgore last year. Despite some trumpeting by Rider fans today, I fail to see the improvement. Imo, they have done nothing to make themselves a better club thus far this offseason.
  14. Great news for the Bombers!!
  15. I was hoping he would re-sign with them. I am now hopeful he plays.
  16. ****! Didn't realize he was even available. Wonder why the Bombers didn't pursue? We gave him a "no thank you" late in the season this year. His asking price was insane. It's funny now that I read reports that we were after him in the Regina media. If so, we could have had him already, Not just Regina media: Kirk Penton @PentonKirk #Roughriders sign defensive end Alex Hall. The #Bombers were hoping to snag him. #CFL I stand corrected. Odd, because last year during one of the games shortly after Hall's NFL release, Irving commented that the Bombers had been in touch with Hall about possibly coming back and were floored by his asking price. He wanted a salary equivalent to John Chick. (We have since learned that is 200k per year), so the Bombers backed away. Wonder what changed? Did Alex reduce his asking price significantly or did we just have more money to spend this year? Could be neither I suppose and the Riders gave him his ridiculous ask. I would love to hear what the Riders are paying him.

  18. The funny part is we really didn't spend that much for five players.
  19. My question to the detractors saying we overspent is simple. How much do you think we spent? Is 160k too much for an AllStar LT. I think most non-idiots would agree it isn't. Is 138k too much for a veteran rotational defense/ST Ace NI? I think the market has clearly shown that is the going rate? Do they think that the rest cost us much? I doubt they were very expensive at all. Where's the big splurge they are criticizing us for? Where is the big spend? I'm not seeing it. We took a 20k cap hit on Bryant over January, we took a 50-60k cap hit on Hurl over a complete ham and egger we would have lined up instead of him, and I doubt we took any cap hit at all on the rest of our signings...if we did they were negligible. Where's the big spend? I see spending...but I see smart spending. All together I see an extra cap hit of around 100k. That is a very reasonable number considering the improvements we made. Take the money we will save by dumping Morley now, and we have an even lower cap hit.
  20. I wonder if there is a trade to be made for Gaydosh? Draft pick perhaps? Combo of draft picks?
  21. We're getting to the point where we're probably at one or two more pieces then we call it a free agency. Like I said two days ago, I still feel we need to leave enough room on our roster to allow our scouting to pay dividends as well. We shouldn't be filling every hole in free agency. I'd like to see us get two of Curran, Peters and Sears. At most. Sounds about right.
  22. Terrible news on SVR. Gotta get Bryant now or the day is a bust.
  23. Just excellent news. He was one of the three guys on my wishlist.
  24. Sooo....you are saying there will be no draft news until May? Darn it....thought we had a real inside track going here.
