  1. Exactly. Bryant isn't scaring anyone. It's sad if Bryant is the guy we're relying on to stretch the field.Looks like you have a Bromance with Kelly Not at all. But I do think Kelly is an average WR. Bryant is just bad. Bryant is definitely not the answer but Kelly has underachieved for a while now and I think he could use a game to sit back and contemplate his future in football and what he intends to do about it. It seems abundantly clear to me that, without trashing them in the media, OShea is sending a message to a few players who seem to have disappeared lately.
  2. I honestly thought Bryant was our best receiver last game. Kelly has had a serious case of alligator arms and disappearitis over the last few games. I have no real feelings on this move at all. Like TB said, half a dozen of one six of another. Neither guy deserves a spot in the lineup imo...but if you gotta go with one I guess it comes down to what have you done for me lately. Bryant had the better game last week and Kelly was awful. Not my favorite move but there is some logic to it. Perhaps, just perhaps, MOS is sending a message to some players.....perhaps, just perhaps, all the whining, sucking, and blowing we have been hearing about no consequences is not true at all.
  3. The logic is...we're screwed and need anyone who has thrown a football within the last 30 months. Does Taman have Bishop's number? There's another proven veteran. I seem to remember a strong arm. Mike Kelly was quite the QB evaluator even if he was a bit rough around the edges with the media. Tillman brought Bishop in. Yep....and Kelly brought him to Winnipeg afterwards. I think I would rather go with Bishop than Joseph but both choices are awful.
  4. Nowhere in particular. Just a receiver that I have liked for a long time that took a while to develop in this league. Obviously, he wasn't a running back but I just look at the way Grigsby runs with the ball after the catch and he reminds me of a young Jamell. The comparison could be to any good YAC receiver though. The point I was trying to make was that Grigsby could give us that big playYAC receiver that we just don't seem to have right now on a consistent basis IF he could make the transition to receiver. It would be interesting actually to see him and Cotton in a 2 back set with Grigsby in more of a receiver/RB hybrid role. With Watson being very good in blitz pickup this could be a formation that gives opposing DCs some headaches.
  5. Have you watched him play? He's a poor running back. Decent receiver though. I'd start Grisby ahead of Romby. I wouldn't go that far, however, I think the Bombers should seriously consider converting Grigsby to receiver over the offseason. He's average at best as a RB but he could be a dynamic receiver if he was able to make the transition. A young Jamel Richardson in the making. It would take some work and carries some risk but the payoff could be huge.
  6. I agree with gbill and think that Mulumba here next year is a very strong possibility. If Newman can recover and stay healthy we will have effectively added a couple of very talented NIs on defence. I would love to see Newman in at LBer or safety. Not sure how many people here saw him with the Riders but the kid was a good young player who looked like he was ready to be a good player in this league. As for Mulumba, he is exceptional against the run and very athletic. He is Vega with a better passport. Both of these guys would provide much better ratio flex to our team. Also, not mentioned is Bilikudi who is a little bit more of a long shot but also a possibility for next year. It's quite possible we could be adding 4-5 quality NIs to our roster by getting some former and new picks in and injured players back. That would go a looong way in getting our team to the next level.
  7. A very strong possibility despite all the protests you will hear from the Rider's head in the sand club.
  8. The Riders goose has not been cooked yet.....but it's been plucked, dressed, and is currently in the oven. I suppose there is a miniscule chance left though.....
  9. Hey Ripper, there was a LOT of talk last year and in the offseason coming from the Regina media that Taman was very comfortable letting Willy explore FA because they felt Sunseri had surpassed him on the DC. Therefore, I am not convinced that he would have kept Willy even if they had the opportunity to do so. Which, of course, they did. There was no reason for Willy to believe that a starting QB spot was open anywhere until Hamilton released Burris and started the domino effect that created a spot in Winnipeg. Taman had a full two months of offseason to make Willy a decent contract extension offer at a time that Willy really didn't have an inkling that he would get a chance to be a starter. Willy, himself, said he was never once asked about extending. Taman, also, has a history of rolling the dice with inexperienced backups....a history that can be proven by the 2007 Grey Cup. Dinwiddie made his first professional start in a Grey Cup and it almost certainly cost us the game as we were the better team.
  10. Diamond Ferri, after a whole season of inactivity? Good depth move but hardly a difference maker and unless he now plays QB...irrelevant. Taman's not picking off the CFL scrap heap...he's picking off players from the CFLPA pension fund list. You see this as improvement? I suppose there's a possibility that the locker room is in turmoil and needed an infusion of leadership because from an onfield perspective these moves make little sense.
  11. Are the Riders making moves to win or just making moves. I would be shocked if Joseph could win a game against anyone now. Sorry, but signing KJ does absolutely nothing to change anyone's opinion of the Rider's chances. There is an almost zero chance that the QB tandem of Sunseri/KJ can go into Commonwealth and then McMahon and win. Zero...zip....ain't gonna happen. Hate to inform you but this was going to be a longshot even with Durant. The Riders are simply not the same team they were last year.
  12. Hey D47, what part of last game has you convinced that Sunseri has turned the corner. The two quarters he absolutely stunk or the 4th quarter where he was able to move the ball when Calgary CLEARLY let their foot off the gas pedal. Sorry, but the 4th quarter had as much to do with Calgary mailing it in too early than it did with Sunseri suddenly getting it. Either way though it was a loss in which Sunseri played wildly inconsistent. Reminds me a lot of Joey Elliott, except Elliott wouldn't bottom out as badly. Don't see too many wins for the Riders or for Sunseri any time soon.
  13. LOL. Unless a person is player or a fly on the wall in the Bomber's dressing room they have absolutely no idea how or what MOS communicates to his players.....and that's the way it should be.
  14. Another possibility is that we didn't want him.
  15. Hey, even discount bologna has more mileage left than Sunseri. Doege will never have a nickname as good as Tino Sunshine. It wraps it all up in a nice package, including Rider fans delusional hope that the next great one was sitting there on the bench, waiting to save the day, probably being held back by that washed up bum, Durant. Guess the post count will go up now. Don't dare multiquote. Doege (pr: Dagg-ee) is not very conducive to a great nickname but it has potential for an amusing rhyme: Doege Doege Riderfans get your paper baggy

  17. Yes he was, and Taman signed him to a try out contract. I don't know if that try out ever occurred. I can't find much information about it. It doesn't matter anyway. The reason I mentioned it was simply that Taman has made some good moves in his career.. You can't find out anything about it because it never happened. There is no such thing as a try out contract in the offseason. We scouted him as he was on our neg list and Taman decided against bringing him to camp and released him from our neg list. He was scooped up by the Riders and the rest is history. This particular story does not really flatter Taman all that much. Unless, of course, the point you are trying to make is how he misjudged the talent level of Weston Dressler and allowed him to get away. Actually, the same argument could be made about Simon as well, who phoned the Bombers about a contract before going to BC and was told by Taman to seek employment elsewhere. Did Taman find these guys? Sure. Did he recognize their talent level and keep them? Nope. The fact he originally scouted him is kind of trumped by the fact they became all stars on other teams imo.
  18. Hey, even discount bologna has more mileage left than Sunseri.
  19. I could understand a sign a new RB thread, or a convert Grigsby to receiver thread, or something of the like....but start Volny? That's not an indictment of our current running game, that's panic.
  20. Start Volny? This is the 2nd thread I have come across in the last couple weeks suggesting this. Not sure if it is the same OP or not. I think desperation is setting into the minds of some of the fan base.
  21. I like Durant....HATE his team, therefore, I cannot support him in his goal for recovery this year. In a perfect world his elbow will remain wonky for the remainder of his contract or until the Riders decide he is not worth the money and show him the door. He is then picked up by an Eastern team willing to gamble on him, has a renaissance of sorts, and he goes on to have a long and prosperous career. Rider fans won't like this but this could actually become the reality.
  22. JFG has performed admirably for us this year. He is not as good as Watson though. A lot of people are saying that Watson is no good but that simply isn't accurate. He hasn't, admittedly, been lighting it up but he certainly isn't bad. I find it somewhat amusing that we rail on the production of Watson but give Kohlert a free pass on his lack of production. It makes no sense. Both receivers are doing the job we ask of them. They are not primary threats in our offence but did anyone expect them to be?
  23. Oh dear.....you've just doomed every chicken between Moosomin and Estevan. BTW, if the average IQ drops any lower in the province there is a possibility that Saskatchewan residents would automatically qualify for disability credits on their taxes.
  24. Ploen eh? His arm is probably better than Durant's will be this season.
  25. Wow. We are so flush with NI talent at the skill positions that we can trade them away. I never realized we had such an immense stockpile of first rate Nationals waiting in the wings. Seriously though, trading Watson would be immensely stupid right now. If we go into FA and pry Andy Fantuz or Durie or someone away or draft a stud like Demski then we can play around with the notion. Until then it is crazy talk by a frustrated fan base.
